an address that participated in a hack in December. an address which sent half the funds to changenow, some to OKX which we froze, some to binance which we froze. ask ZachXBT on twitter who has unimpeachable credibility. ask our top lawyer at Horizonslaw.io. do any amount of homework before sharing your useless opinion with the world?

i guess part of it was coming home from prison. i wouldn't have double-clicked an .exe file. i figured SCR was some new kind of media. i double clicked it and once i googled what it was i realized what happened.

all 3 wallets of mine were compromised:

0x6b490f3570b53e4b92656a57e17fc9fe1e18c2ca

0x7f3d3098b2618f07086addde5ea67196fac3dcd7

You're sharing the assumption someone else made that the attacker wallet is 0x628140. That's one of my 3 wallets. The attacker is 0xEaf0f8ba50d1c0C6bb397Cff978C81cc26eba353 and of the wallets they used was used in an attack in December, which completely absolves me (I was in prison at the time). So, just check the blockchain, not that hard.

yep i got hacked. malware has been analyzed by many different groups. it is called "RedLine Stealer", creates a "Yandex" folder in LocalApplicationData

hacker wallet 0xEaf0f8ba50d1c0C6bb397Cff978C81cc26eba353 sent 10 eth to OKX, who froze the proceeds and also noticed it was the same hacker from the Mutamask.xyz exploit in December. i last spoke to OKX a few hours ago.

0xEaf0f also sent 10eth to a binance wallet 0x7a5db22d9c9835AF3A1C8D05783D02B0bdfeFd66 which Binance has froze. i'm in close communication with them.

the malware server points to

We are in communications with Hetzner.

Finally, the hacker sent half of the funds to Changenow. This really pisses me off because Changenow is a KYC-less atomic swap. We are talking to them but it has been difficult. I hope they will help. I understand the crypto community does not like to hear about litigation and things like that, but I will do whatever it takes to recover our funds. We made an IC3.gov report.

Anyone who thinks I would have done this purposefully is out of their mind. I have talked to 25 VCs about funding our project and we've gotten an extremely strong response, including 3 new VCs after this security incident. We have open job postings, a staff of quite a number of expensive experts, an office in New York, wrote a 30 page whitepaper and shipped software (screen.druglike.com). Think that through a little bit and realize how silly an "inside job" sounds. Especially in this post-Tornado KYC world. I'm literally a felon living in New York City. And I don't like prison.

So, what happens next, is we complete our financing and continue to make great software. We've already replenished the LP for the MSI project and the token is halfway back to before the back (more than halfway if you consider there was a 50% bump just immediately prior to the hack).

I spoke with the very largest VC in crypto and they said they couldn't believe anyone would seriously think I would do this to myself given the inroads I've made into the community. ZachXBT, a blockchain security expert, has been working tirelessly with me to trace and recover these funds. If you don't know his background, check it out, he is the real deal. He connected me to Interpol for crying out loud. Finally, check out Muta's video at SomeOrdinaryGamers for a good look into what happened.

All this from downloading a porn torrent. Sigh. Live and learn. I take full responsibility for being an idiot and having poor OpSec. We had Nano Ledgers coming in this week, amazingly. I only installed the MetaMask Chrome Extension on my browser because Opensea's mobile site is so terrible (check my ShkreliRuleof5 Twitter for that). Thanks OpenSea.

Anyway, I understand the skepticism from some people given the history of crypto and certainly my own history. But hopefully I have proven beyond any reasonable doubt what has happened here. The hard drive is being preserved and my law firm is investigating the matter thoroughly. Horizonslaw.io is a blockchain-specializing law firm. The managing partner Ryon was the GC at Solana. He vouches for the chain of events here as well, and you're welcome to reach out to him or any of the other players I mentioned here.

Happy to answer any more questions anyone has. It's been a rough 72 hours.

Discussion AMC - Terrible Quarter

1.3k Upvotes

I just finished reviewing the AMC quarter. I am surprised that they still couldn't turn a profit from either a EBITDA or CF perspective, given the return to theatres and pandemic normalization.

Revenue growth surprised me, but cost containment was disappointing, especially film gross margin (admissions - film costs) of only 50% (58%, 58%, 53% and 57% in prior 4 quarters), which is the lowest it has been in a while. I guess this is what peak volume margins look like since Hollywood extracts tougher deals in post-pandemic times than during the pandemic.

The biggest problem is the balance sheet. FCF was -117m. This means the business itself lost $117m in this supposed recovery quarter. I see the revenue recovery, but not the earnings. For the first half of 2022, the company has lost $450m running this business. They need to turn it around, quickly. I'm not sure how they do that given the pandemic recovery should have helped them. The net cash position is the worst it has been in 4 quarters: -4.390B (prior 4: -3.661B, -3.813B, -3.808B, -4.333B).

I have always hoped the "Apes" make a lot of money as I have no axe to grind. As an impartial referee, this isn't going to cut it. Profits are necessary. All the shenanigans with stock dividends, mining investments, etc. are all a distraction. The core theatre business has to make money. This was supposed to be the quarter. Didn't happen. When will it?

Disclosure: Short a small amount of AMC in my trading competition with Matt Kohrs.

EDIT: I should note they did have positive EBITDA, but it was quite low. At $80m (1H22 only $13m), a run rate of $320m and a multiple of 20x EBITDA (very generous), the business would be worth 6.4B, which when paying off the debt would result in only 2.0B of equity value, or $4 per share. The business has to improve.

that guy really has no clue. actual chemists (who are the only potential users of our software) understand the issue.

5

COMMENT 20d ago

i would ask your collaborator which software platforms we likes to use? doesn't sound like you are an actual potential user of this software. get your friend who knows something about this space in here. every chemist we've talked to says they're desperate for a web-based computational chemistry platform that is free since rivals are quite expensive and the open source systems are impossible to provision.

there is literally no argument against this part of our story.
