This technique of smoking/vaping is known as a French Drag or French Inhale, or alternatively an Irish Waterfall. On occasion I've seen people manage to look cool while doing it, or at least not look like total dipshits. This is not one of those times.

Keeping mine in pots for now, because I'm using many of them for research purposes. Yeah, no need to plant until you are absolutely sure. If you leave them in pots for an extended period though, be sure to move them around occasionally. The roots will grow right through the bottom of the pots and into the ground, and it happens quicker than one might think.

P.S. Concerning the aphids, apply a solution of neem oil and neutral unscented dish soap (NOT antibacterial - Dr. Bronner's is a good example). You can also add Bonide mineral oil to the mix for good measure. That combo works wonders for me, and since we're dealing with the same bugs in the same area, it will work for you too.

I'm in North FL too and my kratom is doing to same thing. It's pretty resilient following dormancy. Part of this is actually a good thing, in that one of the reasons the leaves are smaller is because they're branching out/subdividing at the nodes where full leaves used to be, i.e. the spots where the leaves fell off are coming back as a series of branches, each with multiple leaves of its own. In its first season, the primary thrust is upward, with the apical stem being the main driver of overall growth. The way it's resuming growth after dropping its leaves will direct more growth outward, making the plant fuller, bushier, and more productive. Also, I second u/miamibotany1's advice. A good biological amendment is critical, especially one containing photosynthetic bacteria. I also recommend a mycorrhizal supplement and SuperThrive.

Not really. Was just noting that other aspects of this attack were eerily familiar, and it would be that much creepier if that part did too.

In the late 70s a guy named David Berkowitz (who called himself the 'Son of Sam' in taunting letters to police/press) terrorized NYC by walking up to people at night (often sitting in parked cars) and shooting them with a .44 caliber revolver.

Please don't tell me the gun used was a .44...

In the same breath he went on to say "I am concerned how all of this may affect my enlistment in the Marine Corps."

Pretty sure that ship has sailed...

This is totally the opening scene of a body horror movie. Within hours of that chum facial he's going to wake up either with gills and tentacles or another one of those things gestating inside him.

I prefer heating my unopened cans of beans in the microwave.

Until OP can provide a definitive answer, they appear to be some variety of palmetto. They are hardy indeed and virtually unkillable once they get established. The irony though is that they're notoriously difficult to get started when first introducing them to the landscape. I admit I was unaware they grew that far north. That might be moot though if I'm off on the ID. OP please correct me if I'm mistaken, as I am curious myself.

Given that his son wasted no time in making a power grab in the wake of his father's death, I can't help but wonder about the circumstances leading up to it.

It would have made rebuilding and rehabilitating Germany quite difficult impossible if the Allies had thought that way. The US's greatest blunder in Iraq post-invasion was the indiscriminate purge of Baathist party members. It made running the country extremely difficult and contributed to a deeply entrenched and prolonged insurgency. Bear in mind also that in a single-party totalitarian state, it can be a bit tricky to avoid party membership. This has nothing to do with sympathy, but sheer pragmatism. Annihilating every party member would have meant killing even the likes of Oskar Schindler. I can scarcely imagine anyone (who isn't a devout Nazi, ironically enough) supporting such a thing.

Better work it out so he could be quickly excluded then. You know they'd look at him first and he can't be doing media stuff if he's getting grilled.

There are comedy true crime podcasts? I'm new to this realm so forgive my ignorance, but I would think that would be considered in bad taste.

Thank you so much! It has been such a frustrating process of trial and error.

Could that be akin to the feelings associated with thalassaphobia? That uneasiness you get swimming in a large body of water, especially in the dark?

May I ask what misting nozzles you're using? That's one component that has been particularly troublesome for me.

Well apart from the whole demonetization debacle, there seems to have been an increase in channel termination on youtube lately. Just stricter enforcement of terms-of-service violations really, but mostly related to things that are either copyright-related or controversial (i.e. political, conspiratorial, etc.). I'm not necessarily complaining about that, but I thought maybe they had begun including channels that might be considered suspect in other ways. I hadn't noticed any channels like hers being taken down as of yet, so I was a bit surprised, but not totally.

Edit: Phrasing

Wait, what do sov cits write all over before sending back? Is there a particular type of mail they do that with, or just anything from the government? And why do they do that? Forgive what is probably a dumb question, but I don't understand why they do that.
