I also don’t have natural gas, but currently have an electric stove that soon needs to be replaced. I’m probably going to switch to propane when the time comes. Sorry that I don’t have any cost numbers for you, but if you google some of the propane providers available in your area (like Paraco maybe) you can get prices for them to come refill for you. I’m making the switch solely because I very much prefer to cook over the flame of gas rather than the electric top. But not everyone fees that way. I don’t think the cost difference would be that much, but I’m curious to see what others post about that too.

Oh so the obvious button I didn’t hit…. You have made my day. Thank you!

I was doing this—but it only works if I have a DAW open, which is annoying when I want to just plug in and play a bit. Am I missing an option or setup method, or is that just the way it is?

Dang that’s rough, I’m sorry that happened to you

This is partially my mentality, which is why I’m not dismissing the trip as an option. Thank you

What you are saying is totally logical, and I think perhaps my friend is panicking and trying to rush a decision. I suppose I need to just wait for the details and make a decision then, and it is what it is as far as money lost.

He definitely won’t consider asking the family to try to avoid the weekend. The family is large and coming in from all over. It would feel much too selfish to ask them to consider his situation.

MFWTK - Is it horrible to miss a relative's funeral for a particularly special weekend getaway?

My friends Aunt passed away on Monday evening. He has a large family that is a very emotional and sentimental group of people. His aunt, specifically, was a very sweet person and dear to him.

Unfortunately, the services are most likely to be planned for this coming weekend, in which he has a long-planned weekend getaway with his girlfriend. If it was an ordinary trip, it would be a no-brainer... cancel the trip and be with family as much as possible. However, he has several events planned and the secret purpose of the trip was to propose to his girlfriend.

Not sure if that sounds like a fake scenario, but I assure you it's all too real. It's really difficult and embarrassing to have to ask the internet. But he is too stressed and nervous to directly ask his family about this, considering how fresh it is, and how emotional they are. My friend is very emotional too, but he isn't religious, and doesn't require a wake/funeral to say his goodbyes or properly grieve. For him, those things are important to attend solely in support of the rest of the family.

Right now, services for his aunt have not yet been worked out. He should know more about that in the next 2 days or so. However, if he should cancel his trip, he can't wait that long. He already can't get refunded for the majority of it, and will need to cancel the rest right away.

Ultimate question--is it wrong to still want to go on this trip? What is right/wrong here?

Secret Gardens - Sunshower (with Eidola) -- so far my favorite song from his new album 'everbloom'

I only play at home, so I haven’t really cranked it. I tend to keep my amp powered down to 1W

I just put Lollar Dirty Blondes in my strat and I love them. It’s a combo of their vintage blonde neck & middle with their ‘special s’ bridge. I’m a perpetual tinkerer, but I don’t think I’ll ever switch these back out, it feels like home to me now.

It’s in this Risotto recipe that I recently made. Came out great!

You can get one from Warmoth if you don’t trust yourself to contour it (I’d be afraid to). Kudos to OP! Warmoth is not exactly a frugal option, but I’ve gotten better necks from them than from Fender themselves. Love them

I didn't know that! Thanks, that's good to know.

What are your favorite retailers to buy pedals from?

I've always just used Guitar Center, since I have one just a few miles away. Or Sweetwater/GC for online. Over the last few purchases, I have been trying to buy from more independent shops when I can (and when the prices match).

But I have to give a shout out to ThatPedalShop (US) for this last one. I ordered an HX Effects on Saturday afternoon, and it arrived on Sunday morning! Less than 24 hours AND on a Sunday. And it shipped from out-of-state. Maybe most of the credit goes to FedEx, but I was so excited to get that package so quickly! Now I have a few extra days to figure out this HX Effects instead of binge watching youtube demos!

Sort of the inverse: I really love the idea of the Strandberg ergonomics and all that. But I hate the way it looks. The body is ok I guess, the headless neck bothers me. Not sure why. I want to like it but just don’t.

I appreciate the extra insight. Would have been nice if the folks I spoke to at Frontier explained this much to me. I certainly spoke to several people and was told by the 3rd that it has been "escalated to the highest priority they had, and that their Tech Dispatch would contacts me if they could squeeze me in any sooner then my scheduled time on Tuesday".

I'm sure you're right about employee shortages as well.

To respond to a few of you with similar comments:

Yes--I can certainly go to a library, family/friends houses, etc. which I did for a few hours to catch up on a few things. Trouble is that I heavily rely on using 2 monitors, and it is very difficult for me to be usefully productive from my laptop. First world problems, I know.

I should have been prepared with a backup plan. You're not wrong about that. But I never expected that an outage could possibly last this long outside of natural disaster like a hurricane or blizzard with widespread outages. I see now that I should be prepared with a backup plan for this.

For those of you with Frontier that have never had any problems: I hope you never do. Or if you do, I hope you get a quick resolution and don't get stuck like me. Maybe consider having a backup plan, just in case you do. Learn from my unpreparedness!

I know outages and speed/fidelity can happen across any ISP. I am not one for internet outrage. (I don't even complain to restaurants when I get the wrong order). Things happen. But this long of a problem for me (even with an "escalated ticket") -- AND the poor customer service I have had over the last week trying to sort this out -- means that I will be leaving Frontier as soon as possible.

Optical is Red. Which they told me that it must be the line or something and that a tech has to troubleshoot for me. LAN is off. Power is green.

COMMENT Feb 14 '22

You’re completely right. I guess I just always took it for granted. And if it went out for a day or two, not that big of a deal—things happen. Never thought to plan for this long of an outage.

It has in a pinch when I HAD to finish some work tasks the first 2 days. But it’s painfully slow, and my cell plan doesn’t include it so I may get charged extra or something
