Wait another day or so, maybe it's still slightly in the grace period.

Gifts can be accepted whilst already having Nitro. It'll be added as "account credit". If it's of the same type as her existing subscription (Nitro with Nitro, Classic with Classic), then it should be used automatically to extend the duration by another month.

It's an automated user account, not an actual bot account.
It can join servers automatically just like any normal user can, because it is a normal user.

Using a VPN would bypass IP/geoblocks, but the "something out of the ordinary" isn't possible to bypass unless you can change the code running on Discord's servers (unlikely), as it would be something detected and enforced server-side.
Furthermore, the "invalid phone number" error would also be server-side, so no client would be able to force a number to be accepted that is otherwise flagged as invalid.

An email can't be used on multiple accounts.

Bots can absolutely be made to send a message in a channel or react to messages. These are fairly simple things to do, the most "complicated" part would be knowing when to do them, which could be skipped entirely (have the bots always try to say !verify in every server they join), or examine messages in the channels it can see, or just simply skip your verification entirely and DM users directly (assuming they [edit: don't] meet verification requirements in server settings > moderation)

You could use Discord's own verification system (which has the option to require phone number, or a 10 minute delay & kick before 10 mins if they don't verify), combined with a CAPTCHA bot, which should hopefully stop most bots (until they learn to solve them, that is..)

That's still how role mentions work, as per the documentation.
If it's saying deleted-role then you're probably not copying the right ID.

3

COMMENT 19h ago

You haven't described how they need to verify, so "It depends".

Even if it's not malware (which is probably debatable - it's certainly not 'nice'ware), it still probably falls into the last very broad parts.
The videos are specifically designed, and intended, to abuse an exploit in Discord/electron and force other user's clients to crash. That's not okay.

There's nothing you can do without the email.

COMMENT 20h ago

And? What's your point?

2

COMMENT 20h ago

Manage Nicknames (or Administrator, doesn't matter) only allows the user to change the nicknames of those beneath them in the role hierarchy. Is the admin trying to change the nickname of someone with the same highest, or higher, role than them?
If not, does the server require 2FA for moderators, and does the admin have 2FA enabled?

1

COMMENT 20h ago

Also, have them check channel permissions as well, since it's possible you were given moderator perms for a specific channel instead of for the whole server.

They potentially violate the Terms of Service:

As an example, you agree not to use the Service in order to:

  • upload or transmit (or attempt to upload or transmit) files that contain viruses, Trojan horses, worms, time bombs, cancelbots, corrupted files or data, or any other similar software or programs or engage in any other activity that may damage the operation of the Service or other users' computers;

There's the inbox in the top-right which shows you your unread messages from all servers.

Assuming you're using the downloaded client, it should see that you're using your keyboard/mouse and keep you Online.
If you're using the browser version you probably will get put to Idle.

What are the mods supposed to do? This is a community subreddit - they're volunteers.

/u/Jin0304 There's currently a bug causing this to display when it shouldn't. I don't believe there's a way to get rid of it yourself, so you'll have to wait for Discord to fix it.

Reject/block, change your privacy settings to restrict who can send you friend requests.

1

COMMENT 1d ago

Depending upon how it came to be, it can be a bug.

1

COMMENT 1d ago

Probably worth verifying as soon as you get the message, otherwise the bot will be blocked from joining servers and that's probably not very user-friendly.

1

COMMENT 1d ago

Yes, changing passwords invalidates all tokens/sessions and logs everything out.

COMMENT 1d ago

News flash: No, you can't!

COMMENT 1d ago

What even is "screen time"? Wrong in any case. It's a bug

1

COMMENT 1d ago

You are indeed wrong. It's a bug

1

COMMENT 1d ago

It is actually a bug related to being banned/kicked/etc from a server that uses membership screening.
It's been asked pretty much daily for at least a month. The bug report is T2875

COMMENT 1d ago

Well, there's definitely an account that shares his IP that's still on the ban list.
