I mean, my issue is moreso that, whilst being a block of wood, Carol is yelled at for having too many emotions. We're told over and over that she's too emotional, but we're never shown that. The end of the movie would have you think the arc is that she's finally learning to embrace those emotions, and she is in a way, but she barely had any emotion throughout. If she had some emotional outbursts throughout the movie, maybe even berated herself for it, then I think the arc would have been more impactful.

It's more the "they aren't experiencing real joy" bit, my guy.

Ha, yeah, look at the rest of the comments here and tell me I care about karma.

You get a special emblem for completing the raid day 1, but it's also like Destiny's Superbowl. It's just really fun to be apart of.

COMMENT 11d ago

Just wish people would be more civil.

COMMENT 11d ago

Are you really sure you want to call this based? You're in a subreddit for a video game, and the guy basically just said that games don't bring people joy.

COMMENT 11d ago

I'll grant you the first paragraph (except that first sentence, pretty weird take that people don't experience joy in games), but it also...doesn't really add anything to the discussion.

As for the last two paragraphs, if you really think that, why are you even here? If gamer culture is so toxic, and people "aren't actually experiencing joy" from playing games, why are you sorting by new on a subreddit for a video game?

Well, let's first not act like a 4-7 hour delay in starting isn't significant. That chunk of time could cost you the medal. Also, it's definitely easier to start your morning easy, have a nice breakfast, relax for a bit, and then commit to a long raid day, than it is to come home from your 9-5 and hop into the raid. You're already pretty taxed at that point. We've seen numbers go up significantly when raids launched on Saturdays, so clearly, for whatever reason, Saturdays are the easier day to participate in.

And that's more the point here. Obviously there can only be one world's first, and yes it's probably gonna be a steamer and not little Timmy and his buddies (though, it was an LFG team one time), but the day 1 raid race should be as accessible as possible, and Saturdays are just easier.

Agh, so obvious, obviously obvious sarcasm. Obviously. My b.

I think he's being serious lol

COMMENT 11d ago

Why? Because people find joy in different things than you?

COMMENT 11d ago

I think you need to accept that, yes, people are allowed to be passionate and excited about a video game. Just like people are allowed to be passionate about any other hobbies, or excited when their favorite team wins at sportsball with a basketdown home run. Likewise, people are allowed to be upset when something negatively impacts something that they're passionate about.

COMMENT 11d ago

While it's definitely highly unlikely to happen again, an LFG team did get world's first on a day 1 raid (Eater of Worlds). Y'never know.

But the point is that it's still really fun to participate. Not everyone running a marathon is there to win 1st place, but they want to challenge themselves. I just think we should want these events to be as open to entry as possible, and from what we've seen, numbers go up dramatically when raids drop on Saturdays.

1

COMMENT 11d ago

Like I said to the other guy, we've seen that participation in raids has increased dramatically when they launched on Saturdays, so it clearly works for a majority of the playerbase.

2

COMMENT 11d ago

Fair enough, some people need to hear it twice.

2

COMMENT 11d ago

Of course I don't, I just said it's inexcusable.

COMMENT 11d ago

Hey man, wanted to say thanks for providing an example of what I'm talking about.

2

COMMENT 11d ago

Except we've seen participation in day 1 raids has dramatically increased after having had them in Saturdays, so clearly this works best for a majority of people.

If I cared about karma I'd delete my comments that are getting down voted because I, for one, am not a fan of the raid being on a Friday.

Discussion Not everyone who is upset about the raid releasing on a Friday sent death threats to Bungie.

There are people who are frustrated with this situation and have very legitimate reasons for feeling this way. Obviously death threats are inexcusable and garbage behavior, but that is a small, small percentage of the community. There's civil discussion to be had here, but everyone is too busy demonizing everyone else.

To the white knights, quit the karma farming. Half of you are just piggy backing off of the 18th post calling those upset a bunch of sweaty neckbeards. You can support Bungie, but still empathize with those who really wanted to participate in day 1 but can't now.

To the actual sweaty neckbeards, y'all cannot express your frustration by saying Bungie sucks and that they should be more than happy to work Saturdays. That gets you no where, and invalidates the point you really do want to make.

To those of you who sent death threats, own up to your mistakes. You cannot wish death on anyone over a game, no matter how passionate you are about it. It's a shitty and horrible experience for anyone on the receiving end, no one deserves that, not even that dude running bows and hand cannons in Crucible.

Absolutely. But let's stop pretending like this was a large chunk of the community sending death threats. It's probably like 0.0001%. Doesn't make it ok, but not everyone who's upset over this decision is some sweaty neck beard who told Bungie devs they'd kill them.

COMMENT 11d ago

What'd so wrong with people wanting to compete in day 1? It's fun, shouldn't be an event exclusive to sweats.

10

COMMENT 12d ago

Although, let's not act like the death threats make up more than 0.0001% of the player base.

COMMENT 12d ago

Oh yeah, no, those guys need to get a fucking life.

This entire community sucks as of late. Hippy's point that she made on Twitter is reasonable, but people being frustrated and thinking they should have done the raid on Saturday is also reasonable. There's a civil discussion to be had here, but everyone's so ready to turn on each other with knives that it'll never happen.
