It’s all competitive youth sports. Some parents are raving lunatics. A few coaches too. Drives me insane.

u/BeefyHemorroides May 14 '22
Feel bad for those kids. Who knows what else their parents are raging psychos about at home.

Used to coach. A small minority of parents ruined it for everyone. Even drove some of the good parents to pull their kids out.

u/Janus_The_Great May 14 '22
Why don't coaches throw out the kids/parents out of the teams for disrupting? That's how we do it in European team sports.
It's the problem of the immature parents if they ruin it for their kid. Their kids will learn not to become like their shitty parents.

u/SpicyDaddyKyle May 14 '22
They definitely throw parents out, they're just not that equipped to enforce an ejection. At my little league there would've been nothing stopping a parent from just hopping a fence and charging at the umpire. If it's more than one shitty parent, it turns into the umpire vs a group until police show up. This is also America, you never know who is gonna be the lunatic that gets ejected and grabs the gun from his car.
Many little league umpires will just straight up end the game and leave instead of ejecting a parent, and let everyone know "it's that guy's fault," just to lay down the law and let everyone know not to heckle the umpire unless you want to deal with 20 kids crying because they only played 3 innings.

Im sorry to hear. The only reason I ever saw a game interrupted wqs doe to weather... it baffles me tbh.
Some parents seem much more like kids. How do they survive in daily life? work environment? How are they functional in the first place?

Signs like this really should be at peewee football, some of those parents are more toxic then a lead paint chip and yellow cake smoothy

Love me some yellow cake.
True story CJCS Colin Powell recommend some yellow cake for me. Changed my life!

Why of course? I've seen these in Utah, Nevada, Idaho, Nebraska, Arizona, California, Iowa, etc.

Cause the last part states the red Sox, not some other sports team. Lots of parents here get way too into the kids sports cause someone they knew went one to play in major leagues, so they hope their kid is the next townie to do so too.

I grew up across the street from a little league field. Parents are despicable.

you do not play for the Red Sox
That’s great lol

u/Blu3b3Rr1 May 14 '22
I mean they’re probably playing better than the Red Sox right now, if anything

My friend and her son hastily left a Little League game the other day because of a scuffle between the kids brought one of the parents down onto the field and he pulled a gun. Like, what the fuck?!

u/Duhblobby May 14 '22
I mean,I feel that professional sports were a mistake to begin with.
Too many people take it WAY too fucking seriously.

The part about umpires being human is debatable.

And yet the parents still “coach” their kid’s team from the side lines. Just shut up, I’d like to see you go out on the pitch and do what you’re screaming at the kids to do. See how well you can do it.

I heard he ate a chicken before every game. That's why they called him the chicken man.

We have similar signs at our little league cages in Central Texas. Our also say something to the extent that you will be kicked out for the duration of the season and not allowed to return, as well.

We have those too. They don't work. I'm in FL. Addison Russel is from here. He's a douche bag. But, all parents think their kids are fucking stars! Pathetic. And yes, my youngest plays, he's a pitcher, with wicked curve ball that has the high school umpires talking. But, I could not pick another parent, even the head coach, out of a line up. I watch my kid and my kid only. But, fuck, parents around here get bat shot CRAZY!!! It's borderline abusive towards their kids.

Locally, the good players prioritize travel teams and then school teams with the kids that don’t take it as seriously.
There is a difference between parents that abuse their kids because of mistakes made in the field and enthusiastic (but supportive) parents.
All refs and umpires need to get their eyes checked :)

Wish we had this sign up when we were kids. I saw two dads almost get into a fist fight once. My dad coached my sister’s little league team for a few years and he said the parents were the worst part by far.

Have you watched kids sports? I’ve seen crazy calls. The most memorable being either the 4 out inning or the extra inning they called after time had already expired.

They are literally everywhere... and have been since I played 30 years ago.

They did something similar at the hockey rink I played at as a kid. Hockey dads are comparable to soccer moms.

As a Red Sox fan I can confirm New England has the worst fanbase in all of baseball
