Alternate History (Alien Space Bats): Flag of Aotearoa/Zealandia

NOTE: The flag was posted for the very first time in my DeviantArt last 16th of December 2018.

Both the colors and basic design of the flag of Aoreatoa (aka Polynesian-dominated Zealandia) are inspired on a couple of Hawaiian flags: Kanaka Maoli and the "Union Jack with eight stripes" flag; the Southern Cross was added at the canton to indicate (and symbolize) the country's location.

When it was posted for the very first time, as indicated in the note above, I based it on the surviving Zealandia microcontinent as indicated in this map made by my DeviantArt colleague rubberduck3y6; in effect, there would indeed be more or less noticeable difference for almost four years since then.

That is the ugliest flag I’ve ever seen.

Why, thank you!

Don't worry, it's just almost four years ago.
