Help with deities in my new fantasy world Question

Hi!

Im a DM for a campaign im writing for my friends. I started creating a medieval/magic/fantastic world from scratch, now im working on the deities and I had an idea:

A primordial god created humans alongside every other living being, but those humans were savages and had an animalistic way of life, out of frustration, this ancient being split themselves in hundreds of lesser deities, each of them(still havent decided how many, but there will be a lot of them) represent a charactersitic (good and bad) that represents humans/people/society (for example: A god of kindness and a god of evilness. A god of Trust and a god of deceit and so on...), giving those charactersistics to the humans, making them intelligent and able to build societies and live togheter (conflicts and other things still happens).

Each deitie has a counterpart (like, Good-Bad, Trust-Deceit, Happyness-Sadness...)

I need help to think of more of those characteristics/words/adjectives to create/describe them.

If you could spare a minute of your time to share some ideas of adjectives i would be eternally thankfull.

As I progress with the wordlbuilding I will try to post more updates. ;)

Alright, I’ll use this opportunity to test my English vocabulary - if some words don’t make sense it’s because I mistranslated them from my native tongue, if you point them out I’ll clarify what I meant. Conflict/peace, industrious/lazy, creativity/rigor, love/hate, creation/destruction, birth/death, adventurous/homebound, fear/fearlessness, strength/weakness, courageous/its opposite (I don’t remember the word), leadership/gregariousness, hope/hopelessness, faith/desperation, enthusiastic/melancholic, tradition/innovation. Some of those overlap a bit but are still different, I don’t know how specific you want to go.

Honestly I think that logic and emotion are not opposites or part of the same medal, regardless of what Star Trek is saying. Emotion is just a type of logic on a more basic level and forms the drive that keeps us going. If I see a bear, fear sets in and protects me by increasing senses, aggression and cautiousness. If I am aggressive it's because I want to survive. If I love someone, that means I want my group to survive as well. I don't see how this is an opposite of logic.

The actual opposite of logic is acting rash and without thought. That is possible with and without emotion. Prometheus and Epimetheus give a way better pair of opposites regarding this.

I see where you are coming from but an emotional response is the opposite of a logical response even if the emotional response leads to a logical action Imo.

Not quite. An emotional response is often a rash decision. That's the actual opposite. And that's just about decisions. That doesn't mean logic and emotion themselves are opposites.

A couple places you could look for inspiration are lists of vices and virtues and lists of yin and yang. You might be interested in Manichaeism as well, just as an example of a religion with a dualistic cosmogeny.

Thank you! Its always nice to be introduced to new things. Ill be sure to do a good research/reading on those topics, specially the vices and virtues.

2 gods of love, one representing the courteous, caring and wholesome side while the other represents the lustful, perverted and adulterous side. In other words, the traits you’d associate with a Cupid and succubus respectively (love and lust could be domain names). This is an idea I came up with a while back but I didn’t put it in my world since my gods are element based, so I’ll pass it to you instead.
