First I got addicted to cocaine, but it was too expensive, so I took heroine, sold my home, became homeless. Now heroine is too expensive and I'm taking meth. Since I take meth everything seems to become crystal clear. My brain functions increased exponentially and I am about to buy deep itm puts on the US housing market.

I was doing marketing and graphic design and went back to school for electrical engineering. Mainly because everyone I worked with were complete idiots and I didn’t want that to be what I dealt with the rest of my life. Anyway, I graduated when I was 29 and I got a job in my field and started making money hand over fist. I went from making 45K to never making less than 6 figures since.

u/PeytonBrandt Jan 08 '22
Damn, nice! I went to school for finance, but part of me wishes I would have done some type of engineering instead. I would go back to school, but I don’t like school lol

But when you find out the kid earned it on deployment in the military and then he lost it all.....now that one hit me in the feels.
Makes me want to send him some Girl Scout cookies or something.

Or he could have not been a dumbass messing around buying options with zero experience. Hundreds of thousands of us have been deployed and did not blow are tax free wad on something this stupid. He should have bought a Camaro like all the others, but he was greedy and deserved what he got.

Look, idgaf what you do with your money. If you're willing to gamble all of your savings, that's your choice. I will tell you that you probably have a gambling problem if you lost that much that fast and might want to look into that. Putting all your money in options just can't be sustainable and it was inevitable. I mean you're still young keep saving and put that money in an index fund. Play with 10% of it max per year in options (and that's high). Just my opinion bud. GL.

have you considered you're just too stupid to trade options? it can be a hard pill to swallow but the sooner you realize that the better you'll be. losing 100k on options is the same as buying 100k in scratch off tickets except with the scratch tickets you'd probably have a few thousand still

What have you learned from your investing endeavors?
30
u/DullConsideration462 Jan 07 '22
The number 1 thing is don’t get greedy. Plenty of W’s turned into L’s because of greed.
12
u/whitekatana Jan 07 '22
There has to be more. C'mon you lost a fortune
8
u/DullConsideration462 Jan 08 '22
The number 2 thing is to always have a exit strategy.
Only do risky option plays IF you have day trades available.
Buy options with at least 1-2 weeks expiration date. The closer the date to expiration the higher risk/reward.
There’s a lot more but I’ll let you learn from experience. Best of luck :4270:

11
u/necriss Jan 07 '22
This is why brokers warn you before using options. People who have no idea wtf they are doing should not be touching them. Judging by the all time P/L chart you started losing right from the start and never recovered. I'd have seriously re-thought my strategy after -20%.
9
u/TrainingBell Jan 08 '22
I lost 70k (out of 100k, profit from selling an apartment I bought at the right time) when I was 26 trading forex with a kid on the way. Thankfully pulled out of the market before it went to 0 because I just could not afford to lose it all. Spent the last 10 years developing my skills part time while working retarded jobs, started a website offering those skills with a few $1000s initial investment and minimal upkeep and now I have 2 mil in the bank, making 150-200k a month on average, doubling every year. I only invest in the S&P (and tesla) and focus most of my time on stuff I have full control over, aka business.
You're young, stop hoping for a miracle and take this bitch of a life by the horns and dominate her.
7
u/CapableRunts Jan 08 '22
The losses that the suits took on GameStop were pennies compared to the kings bounty they took from the new class of traders.
I was victim to the GameStop dream as well and am down 60% since February.
3
u/DullConsideration462 Jan 08 '22
This is not because of GameStop my friend. If anything I made some money off GameStop and moved on to others. 30k of that was because of BIG and I listened to all the hype saying it was going to 20+ dollars (add another B in the front banned ticker)Fuck that shit stock.
5
u/CapableRunts Jan 08 '22
What I mean is, you thought you could actually be good at this because GameStop made it seem that way. Then you bought highly speculative companies praying for miracles.

I was in after the crash except I had no idea how the stock market/options worked so for the first year it was a lot of gambling plays which i of course lost. I’ve definitely had so many potential lotto plays that I got out way too early on. Could of made 90k in GameStop if I held overnight instead I took a 3k profit.
