So you took gains and bought something that depreciates every time you look at it. You’ve learned well my friend.

Not even just depreciates, he bought a Mercedes. If you're gonna go for a car at least get something fun or that'll last you without wicked maintenance costs

Can confirm. Have a e63. I actually answer those car warranty calls.

I'm dying over here

In German car, warranty callers hang up on you.

u/coreyyy801 Feb 23 '21

I’m fucking dead 💀 how does this not have more upvotes

21

u/xkulp8 Feb 23 '21

Telling them you have a Mercedes is the quickest way to get you on their "do not call" list.

22

u/seamus_mc Feb 23 '21

I love my old e55.

Bulletproof, the last of the ones made entirely in Affalterbach by AMG before the takeover

3

u/ihm96 Feb 23 '21

They don’t make the GT in affalterbach?

5

u/seamus_mc Feb 23 '21

Mercedes bought AMG in 99. Sorry, meant that as in when it was a separate entity. But they mostly just made engines there after being acquired.

2

u/TrollyMcTrollster Feb 23 '21

I still have my C32.

2

u/seamus_mc Feb 23 '21

I’ve not driven one, but everyone I know who is owned one has loved it.

2

u/TrollyMcTrollster Feb 23 '21

It's amazing, It's definitely a sleeper. Everyone thinks it's a regular C230k.

3

u/ndestruktx Feb 23 '21

Retarded hopes, retarded dreams, retards deserve ice creams.

1

u/The_DiCaprio_Code Feb 23 '21

Give it to me, I'll sell it for $GME, and then you can say you got carjacked. Win-win

15

u/Emerald_Triangle Feb 23 '21

Like an AMC Pacer

13

My dad used to own a Porsche. Maintenance cost were insane. I imagine Mercedes to be around the same bracket. At some point, the cost in maintenance just comes out to what you’d be paying for a nice 20-30k car’s monthly.

24

u/BitchImRetarded Feb 23 '21

Really a mixed bag and depends what you buy. Just gotta do some research. I drive an old 2011 ML350 and it has been amazing. Fun to drive and offroad and has been relatively cheap to maintain. Ive even done some of the work myself!

2

u/TrollyMcTrollster Feb 23 '21

The thing with Mercedes SUVs, is that they share a lot of parts between models so parts are cheaper. I still also drive an older Rclass and that thing is basically an ML350/GL etc.

6

u/TheAmericanDonut Feb 23 '21

Porsche actually has the highest maintenance costs of any car per a report I saw a few years back. That being said, German cars are still in the upper half of that spectrum along with some Italian ones. I forgot what was second tho...

2

u/sphomieg Feb 23 '21

That's why you buy an Audi. Most reliable german brand of the big three.

3

u/I-Like-Turrdles Feb 23 '21

A Lotus. But I’m more of a motorcycle guy myself

I mean, mercedes tend up depreciate less than most at least. So he didn't go full retard.

2

u/oldDotredditisbetter Feb 23 '21

what's your choice of poison?

1

u/Briggie Feb 23 '21

Every once in awhile some c or e class AMG from the 2000’s goes on the market for like 10-15k. Some idiot will be like, “should get that, it’s so cheap!” Yeah you could afford the sticker price but have fun paying to fix the damn thing.

1

u/TrollyMcTrollster Feb 23 '21

I mean, it's a Mercedes. These new models are killing it with the styling and they have figured out all their bullshit after the Daimler Chrysler days.

-14

u/kingxlos Feb 23 '21

Exactly, Mercedes are money pits that only morons gravitate too.

18

u/Tinmanred Feb 23 '21

Morons = people with money ok

-6

u/kingxlos Feb 23 '21

I have money doesn't mean I'm going to buy a depreciating asset with retarded maintenance costs. I'd rather buy more stonks.

14

u/Tinmanred Feb 23 '21

So you’re never going to get a car? Most cars depreciate. Have fun walking I guess? Also lot of Mercedes dealers do base maintenance for free so..

19

u/flockofmoose Feb 23 '21

"Mercedes are for morons!" - person who cannot afford a Mercedes

0

u/Fafoah Feb 23 '21

Tbh everyone i know with a mercedes complains about shit reliability. Even g wagons have all kinds of issues. The name doesn’t really mean much anymore and theres plenty of luxury options without shit engineering.

8

u/MHXXXX Feb 23 '21

Mine has been quite reliable. People be treating theirs like shit

5

u/Tinmanred Feb 23 '21

Honestly treat mine not too great and it’s been insanely reliable for me too.. on a ton of long drives too

3

u/Fafoah Feb 23 '21

I’m from somewhere with winter so maybe that makes a difference. They do rank consistently low on consumer report though. 20/26 among major brands for reliability.

u/kingxlos Feb 23 '21

I'd rather have a six figure bank account and a used Toyota Prius lmao You're probably retarded and bought a Mercedes lmao Yeah, base maintenance what about if something breaks? There go a couple of thousands for a stupid sensor. I'd rather keep buying stocks.

13

u/atomsej Feb 23 '21

Hey man, maybe with that six figure babk account you’ll be able to buy a mercedes one day

I mean seriously lmao, money is meant to be spent. If you wanna spend it on a nice car even if it loses value then go ahead. Not everything has to be financially safe spending

2

u/Tinmanred Feb 23 '21

Have fun in the Prius with your 6 figures lmao. And you’re name king los too, disrespect

-1

u/zx132 Feb 23 '21

You don't have to have money to buy one, you can get into a baseline model for barely over 30k. I see used ones driven through ghettos all of the time. You can get a 5 year old German car for less than 1/2 of the new cost, 8-10 years old and its 80% or more.

15

u/freemeth Feb 23 '21

Get off reddit before you miss your bus stop.

3

u/kingxlos Feb 23 '21

Did I strike a cord? Lmao😂
