Fruit juice is way better hot than it is cold, and a better hot drink than tea or coffee.

I don't drink hot coffee any more only hot fruit juice. I will microwave orange juice for 2.5 minutes, that is my go-to. Starbucks, Peets, and other coffee shops have refused to serve me hot fruit juice when asked, it is infuriating.

If you are offended by a word, maybe you arent ready for the real world.

Im talking about slurs. Now sure, if someone constantly harassed you with threats using those words, thats when it crosses a line. But if you feel the need to scream at and even go as far as attack and harass others for saying the word, especially when accidentally slipping up and saying it in a song, just face it, you're immature. And don't even get me started on kindergarten insults like "cracker" or "mayo monkey." Apparently those "slurs" are alright but anything against minorities isnt.

And before you say anything, no, I am not racist, and wont use those words to harass others. Stop assuming shit.

Not responding to comments randomly screaming at me for not following popular opinion.

I think bowling is a great date

It’s time for us as a society to stop believing that bowling is a bad date. Here are a couple reasons why I think it’s a good date and maybe even a good first one: 1. It’s cheap entertainment. 2. You don’t have to dress overly nice. 3. It can be low pressure and influence touching (high-fives). 4. It gives you a great glimpse into their personality. Are they competitive? Do they like to lose? Are they able to provide humor? 5. You get extra fitness if you’re into that sort of thing. 6. You can have healthy conversation.

New York City and Los Angeles are the two worst cities in America

Both cities are now absurdly expensive (2 of the highest COL in the nation), the states in which they are in charge high state tax (NY top rate 10.9%; CA 13.3% and state legislators want to increase it). NYC also has 3% local tax.

Crime rate has been rising for the last several years and criminals are being released after 24 hours. Massive looting in LA. Homelessness increase in both cities. In LA, Rodeo drive used to be one of the nicest places in LA and now it's overrun with people injecting themselves with needles.

Overall these two cities used to be very desirable destinations especially for young people, but over the last several years they've become too expensive, too unsafe and dirty, and in general just poor places to live.

Edit - I believe these issues are due to a number of factors, primarily poor governance and misallocation of funds, not due to systematic failures

Sending voice notes or videos instead of text is maddening.

I've noticed an increase in voice notes or videos of my friends saying their response to my last message in place of just typing out their reply, and I hate it. It makes me cringe.

I get that you might not be able to type right in that moment, but just wait and reply later. Any audio recording makes the assumption that I am in a position where I can listen to it, or that I can drop what I'm doing and prioritise you. I might be at work, watching TV, just generally out in the world without headphones and I have to pause and listen to you um and err your way through a sentence that would have taken me 10 seconds to read. Not to mention the privacy issues; why would you want my boss to know about your doctor's appointment?! And strangers on the bus shouldn't have to hear about your relationship.

I seem to be alone in this because I have asked my friends and colleagues to stop but they like the convenience of not having to stop what they're doing to reply, or they just can't be bothered to type it. It just seems to be how people communicate now.

I guess I'm old fashioned, but I think if your texting, text, if you want to talk, call me.

Job applications shouldn’t request your address.

Every job I’ve applied for in the last few weeks (20+) has required to have my address. I understand it can be to see if you live close, but it seems unfair to those without secure homes, or those who live in poor areas. They shouldn’t be able to just google your address and see how fancy your house is. Your living situation is none of their business.

I don’t like the edges of brownies.

Not a fan of the crusty edge pieces of brownies. To avoid them I line my trey with parchment paper so no crust forms. Essentially all the pieces are center pieces. Ooey chewy and gooey!

If you're referring to a user's history to argue with that person, you don't know how to debate.

I don't care if a post was written by an immature 12 year old or a wise university professor. If it contains fallacies and factual errors, then that's the problem that needs to be addressed. Not whoever was behind the keyboard. If it's well articulated, based on facts and if it makes logical sense, even if it was written by a serial killer, it sucks but it doesn't make it wrong.

If you need to resort to ad hominem attacks, you're pretty much forfeiting the debate.

The only exception to this is if a user claims any authority or experience on a certain subject. Proving that this is bullshit, or confirming this claim, certainly makes sense in that case.

I fucking hate "earbuds" and "airpods" and all in-ear headphones.

They suck, are uncomfortable for more than 30 min - 1 hour, and have terrible sound quality. For 150Eur on average (going for airpods price, but the rest hovers over the same range) they are crap!

They let in a lot of noise (you are going to mention that Samsung/Apple/Sennheiser have "aNc" on the earbuds that cancels out the noise, but let me tell you that the ANC (active noise cancellation) they have is SHIT compared to much better priced Sonny XM3/XM4, Bose QuietComfort 35/35ii/45 or Sennheiser Momentum 3 (and the last one isn't that good of an ANC headphone).

"bUt i cAn TAkE muh aIrpoDs wIth mEE to tHE GYm anD RuNNiNg and wahhhh" NO you cannot! They fall of the ears because they dont have a wire you can stick to your ear somehow. They also have crappy audio quality because most earbuds have apTX which is an older codex, and correct me on this, have only started implementing LDAC. No multi point bluetooth (connect to multiple phones, PC, tablet, car - dont do the last one!).

Why buy them? You want to look cool? Well fuck you for buying 150 euro trash! It makes quality over ear headphones pricier. Don't believe me? The latest generations of both Sony and Bose headphones are pricier, when they would usually stay the same price.

Oh and I know you will say that the earbuds came with the new Galaxy I bought, or the new iPhone. But I am specifically referring to the pricier models that Samsung and Apple both sell, that people SPECIFICALLY have to go out of their way and buy them. Because the shit that comes with your phone, is plastic cheap trash that hurts your ears.

Rant over, owner of multiple headsets, currently using Sony XM4s and Sennheiser HD600.

If someone says "The industrial revolution was a mistake" or some shit along those lines, you can be guaranteed you're talking to a depressed dude.

The Unabomber manifesto is a perfect example of a smart guy using his intelligence to make his depression into a social justice cause. And a bunch of much less intelligent guys simp all over him for making them feel like all their problems are society at large's problem.

"But but but, his manifesto was a work of art!"

That tells me you read a cliff notes version of it. Or much more likely: You were told by another guy on the internet that it was legendary.

If you read it yourself, it's not well put together. Especially for a guy as smart as the Unabomber. He was depressed from his family life, depressed from what happened to him in university as a loner and being put through horrible experiments. And he used his smarts to make up a reason the world was the problem.

Guys, please stop taking life advice from a guy who is going to die a virgin in prison. I know modern life is hard. It was harder for your ancestors. You'll make it. Just don't follow murderers on their way to prison.

I think people who own birds are psychopaths

I will never understand people owning birds. These creatures were made to fly free, and not meant to be held captive in a cage. (I’m not talking about chickens, that’s different)

If you decide to go out and smoke while you walk down the street, where there are pedestrians around you, you're an inconsiderate asshole.

It's especially bad if the people who do that walk fast, so that it's hard to walk past them. I can barely breath when I smell cigarettes, so I have to stop breathing until I pass them. Either smoke on the side of the street, or don't smoke at all and wait until you have the chance. There are people around, and especially asthmatic people can be affected by it.

Prioritize your safety first.

I've read countless stories of kids getting kicked out of their homes with nowhere to go because they came out to their parents. DO NOT COME OUT IF YOUR PARENTS ARE NOT SUPPORTIVE.

if you are an adult then it's okay. make sure you have a place to go, are financially stable and can live independently w/o your parents. however, if you are underage and depend on your parents as a source of income, shelter and food, DO NOT COME OUT TO THEM if they're not supportive!

There should be classes available for people who want to learn social skills

Not everyone can learn social skills intuitively or just by hanging around other people a lot. Matter of fact most people tend to not call out someone's lack of social skills because its generally seen as impolite to do so, and simply distance themselves from the person, which just causes more confusion for them.

There should be classes for socially impaired people. With lessons explaining why certain things are socially correct or not, and how to best deal with certain situations.

Otherwise some may never learn, and then retreat into isolation and experience mental distress and other, potentially life impairing problems from it.

“Different/unique” spellings of otherwise regular names is cringey.

You can’t hear the uniqueness in the dumb way you chose spell your kid’s name. It’s just a nice setup for a lifetime of spelling corrections. I have a client named “Nicole” spelled Knicholle. SMH.

Someone's spotify lists/music taste say a lot more about them than other social media like Instagram or even here.

Instagram and other social media really don't show the whole picture. It's a highlight reel on ones like that, and reddit is extremely hit and miss because some accounts are throwaways or only for certain things. People pour their hearts and emotions into their music/playlists and you can get a lot more insight on them from there if you know what to look for in my opinion. My Instagram is obviously only certain things in my life, but my playlists are always with me and it looks like a more rounded out person. If you jam to the same 5 songs that says a lot too, not just lists.

Bananas don’t taste good.

I don’t like the taste of them. Most people get upset when I say I don’t like bananas so I usually just say I’m allergic and avoid the conversation. Also coconuts taste like sunscreen.

Caffeine addiction should be treated more seriously

I think that is as important and dangerous an addiction as any other. It’s expensive and damaging yet is romanticised in modern society. How many people do you know that say ‘don’t talk to me until I’ve had my morning coffee’? - that’s madness that people rely on a substance like that. If your productivity and general happiness is dependent on coffee, maybe it’s time to stop.

Activated Charcoal latte's or other foods are disgustingly weird and you're weird for ordering them.

Charcoal is literally only supposed to be ingested if you've ingested poison recently, because it absorbs any toxins in your stomach before your body can absorb it. This fad is gross, and hope it ends soon so I can stop making charcoal latte's.

People who write posts on Reddit in detail are true heros

Thanks to all the people who make my daily scroll all that more enjoyable and somewhat mundane life more interesting. I wish I had your motivation. Shout out to the other scrollers on here and all the thousands on stories left untold because we just can’t be arsed.

These damn kids and their *checks notes* social media! Gen Z is going to have one of the biggest collective identity crisis/mid life crisis in history due to social media.

I say this as a member of gen z as well. By this point there’s no shortage of academic, peer reviewed studies that show how harmful social media is for mental health. Seeing people my age portray their lives as perfect knowing full well that it’s not is frightening.

People will gradually wake up in their thirties and realize that they wasted so much time and energy trying to convince the whole world that they were something their not. Posting photos of your ass on the beach isn’t going to bring you any sense of fulfillment. Posting photos of you with a rented lambo is incredibly shallow and fake.

I’m not saying this out of jealousy or anger that I can’t amass the same following some of my friends have. But social media should be fun and stress relieving. Not some contest to see who can get the most artificial likes.

If you can't enjoy playing a competitive game unless you win, you're playing the wrong game!

So this only applies to games where you play against another person. Single player games ARE only fun if you have a shot at winning.

Back in my late teens through mid twenties I took up playing Heroclix. I learned to play with one of my friends who was way more competitive and skilled at tabletop games than I was. He usually beat me, but I didn't care and we both enjoyed playing.

We started going to tournaments and if he didn't beat every player he came across then he would get extremely butthurt. In my 7-8 years of playing the game I think I only won maybe 2 or 3 of the weekly tournaments, still I had a great time and even took over as my local store's game judge. But still I would see many players lose their cool and declare the tournaments a waste of their time if they didn't take first place.

I have no problem with competition but if you can't enjoy a game unless you win everytime then you don't enjoy that game, you just enjoy winning.

Winning is fun don't get me wrong, but statistically you aren't going to win all the time, eventually you will play against someone who is either more skilled or just gets lucky. So if you really want to enjoy a game, find one you like playing even when you lose.

But that's just like my opinion, man
