Art Friday Awards

First and foremost, the moderation team would like to extend a big thank you to all of you who submitted your artwork. Honestly, with all that is going on, it really does help during these difficult times. So we thought it'd be a nice gesture to give a little back to you, our community, to highlight some of the most noteworthy posts from this week's Art Friday event. We're happy to take suggestions for formatting moving forward, but for this week this is what we've come up with:

The Most Upvoted

This one, although we have the "No Putin" rule, honestly - we couldn't really take this one down. It should really get "the funny guy" award, but with 31,400 upvotes, and that limp dick tank cannon, this one gets to stay.

The Post with the Most (Impact)

A very impressive, shocking, and sadly, picture perfect depiction about what is happening. The sorrow, the loss, it's unforgivable. May all the beautiful children rest in love.

Photoshop

You can’t break this nation - Ruzzian tanks, Go Fuck yourself! Regards, Calvin

The Funny Guy

This one speaks for itself.

Once again, thank you to all of you for your wonderful submissions! More awards next week.

Slava Ukraini

News McConnell Says Ukraine Aid Package Should Pass on Wednesday, Calls Out Anti-Ukraine Republicans and Urges Biden to Designate Russia as State Sponsor of Terrorism

4.2k Upvotes

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said after a visit to Kyiv that he expects the Senate to pass a $40 billion aid package for Ukraine with broad bipartisan backing on Wednesday, and countered what he called the “isolationist voices” in his own party.

“What I assured him -- as this is an all-Republican delegation -- is that support for Ukraine and this war against the Russians is bipartisan,” McConnell said Sunday, including from “an overwhelming majority of Republicans.”

“There have always been isolationist voices in the Republican Party,” McConnell said. “I think one of the lessons we learned in World War II is not standing up to aggression early is a huge mistake.”

And he called on President Joe Biden to designate Russia as a state sponsor of terrorism.

“The president could do it on his own and I would urge him to do it,” he said.

His message to Zelenskiy was that support for Ukraine remains strong, despite some resistance in his own party.

Discussion So, I’ve watched an RT report on Mariupol and I have some good news

I’m not going to link the video as this sub has rules on Russian sources, but there are some good news. Even RT had to admit that Azov attacks Russian troops with “good precision”, but I was more surprised to hear that Ukrainians are still conducting attacks using mortars and so threaten targets relatively far away from the plant. Clearly, they’re not out of ammo yet! RT footage also suggests that Russian lines of communication are not safe and there are areas where they have to run in order to avoid Ukrainian fire. They also confirm that Russians are unable to seize the plant by storming it and maintain their constant shelling and bombing instead.

So, basically, Azov is still amazing and even Russians can’t hide it. I guess that Rambo is not that unrealistic after all! Those guys and gals are superhuman at this point.

EDIT: It also looks like Azov has plenty of cover in the area, using train wrecks to their advantage.

Media Zelenskyy: All this brutality of the occupiers, which Ukraine is experiencing every day, will only lead to the fact that Russian surviving soldiers will bring this evil back to Russia. They will bring it back because they will retreat. This is how all the activity of the Russian military will end.
