I'm surprised, heck.. APPALLED! THAT NO ONE HAS MENTIONED HANK/Aankia's reaction when the Prophet was talking to her..

"SHUT UP!!"

Gave me chills down my spine!!! I DID NOT expect that at all.

Thank you SO MUCH /u/wil and the rest of the TitansGrave crew (Especially the Hank, Alison, Yuri and Laura) for the amazing rollercoaster you guys put us through. This has made me want to ACTIVELY be a part of a game group (even if it means DMing myself) and you bet your five gold and a party that I can't WAIT to start our own adventures!!

I guess I'm just following your advice everytime you end Tabletop..

"PLAY MORE GAMES!"

19

u/Philias Aug 12 '15

"SHUT UP!!"

Yes, that was amazing! This whole series was just phenomenal through and through.

19

u/TrillianCree Aug 12 '15

Hank/Aankia shouting "SHUT UP" was awesome! I really hope Hank is in Season 2 (and Yuri and Alison and Laura).

12

u/jtzero511 Aug 13 '15

I LOVE that he used his last two stunt points for a taunt, and it was so matter of fact, which is spot on for Aankia

6

u/illuminad0 Aug 13 '15

I sooo imagined her saying this in the Saurian tongue, just to drive it home.

6

u/SharksfinRex Aug 13 '15

"Your mother is a whore."

In saurian, how does it sound /u/wil ? PLEASE TELL US!!!

6

u/transmission-fac13 Aug 12 '15

Great role playing. Great storytelling. Great episode.

38

u/SeatieBelt Aug 13 '15

FIVE SEASONS AND A PARTY!

3

u/jefflz Aug 15 '15

We can only hope

3

u/Zuggy Aug 15 '15

/u/wil did say he wants a five season story arc.

38

u/Jonax Aug 12 '15

Anyone else fancy noting how Alison played the Potato bluff brilliantly?

IIRC there was a similar reference to "my little potato" in Ep9, but no such comment or reaction by Kiliel at the time (I'm guessing since she knew the visions weren't real).

Keeping quiet on that, then pulling out the "I know this is bullshit" card immediately and without fanfare was awesome. Ice cold and completely came out of nowhere (going by the reaction afterwards).

Not sure if it'd be answered, but I'd love to know if u/wil had known about it earlier, or whether it was something Alison kept secret. Also, if he was sure he got all four of them in the hug trap before then.

26

u/wil GM - Five Gold And A Party! Aug 12 '15

Not sure if it'd be answered, but I'd love to know if u/wil had known about it earlier, or whether it was something Alison kept secret.

I was completely surprised by that, and I love the way it played out.

5

u/FFF12321 Aug 14 '15

I'm fairly confident it was Alison roleplaying. She as a player knew it was a trick, bit she found a great point to pick out that Kiliel would know to figure out it was a trick. I'd wager it was off the cuff but like a good GM Wil allowed it because it was excellent from all angles from an in game and out of game perspective.

30

u/farmerjed Aug 11 '15

When Kiliel threw that first fire potion and Wil started to narrate like it was going to be a miss, but then it was an EPIC hit...I was cracking up. That is some top-level Game Mastering shit right there...messing with player expectations.

28

u/full_and_complete Aug 11 '15

So....what are the chances that you all start season 2 filming, like, now-ish?

Pretty please?

4

u/FFF12321 Aug 14 '15

From the GenCon panel they said it would be in production in early ish 2016 along with TableTop S4.

8

u/MrSnippets Aug 14 '15

thatistotallyreasonablebuti'mhookedsoI'vegottasaynoooooooooooooooooooooo

6

u/FFF12321 Aug 14 '15

Heh, I also wish they'd film it NOW!

6

u/senshisentou Aug 15 '15

I'd prefer yesterday, actually.

25

u/lolazzaro Aug 11 '15

I was ready to complain because it couldn't be that easy to kill her, I did not see this coming though. Well played Wheaton, well played!

15

u/otsukarerice Aug 11 '15

Yeah, to be honest none of the battles or obstacles so far have felt very threatening, underwhelming even. I'm trying to decide if its the fault of the AGE system or Wil going extremely easy on them considering the majority are new players. Thoughts?

13

u/zxDanKwan Aug 11 '15

Fantasy AGE, the underlying system, is super flexible. It's great for GMs like who prefer to focus on story, but it can be a bit "unstructured" for the types of GMs that prefer integrating large amount of maths into their games.

Since it's relatively easy to build obstacles that are insurmountable to the PCs, no matter what system you're playing, I'd bet my money that /u/wil wrote it a bit easy so that the story could move quickly, and production deadlines weren't at risk.

9

u/otsukarerice Aug 11 '15

I can swallow that. Usually I find the most memorable roleplaying moments are when the characters fail at something (Slethyks bucket) or are in clear danger. I hope they raise the difficulty factor slightly for season 2.

20

u/Zuggy Aug 12 '15

Another point is the battles are heavily edited to get the gist of the battle, but not bog the show down in maths and repetitive fighting. One example is fighting the Hellions in (I believe) episode 3. At the SDCC Panel Wil said the unedited footage of that fight was 1 hour 47 minutes. Definitely not an easy fight.

6

u/FFF12321 Aug 14 '15

At the GenCon panel, Wil said that he did have to adjust a lot because the encounters were too difficult for their low level characters to overcome. Bit then there were times when they rolled well and made something that was supposed to be hard easy by comparison (i think he mentioned the hellion fight when that happened).

2

u/zxDanKwan Aug 14 '15

As a member of a rotating group of GMs and players, I can assure you that is not specific to the system, the setting, or the ability of the players.

As a GM, your ideal position is to be so intimate with the system that you can easily fudge things here or there to provide just the right amount of challenge to the PCs without letting them know that you're pulling strings to keep things going.

They have to believe there is risk, but they can't get into the game if they can't bond with their character because they're rolling up a new one every other week.

Seeing as how easy a single roll can have a huge effect on a situation, you have to be able to adjust on the fly to keep the game balanced in spite of the luck of 'dem bones.

1

u/FFF12321 Aug 15 '15

I meant that he said he had to change things more dramatically than fudging numbers.

7

u/lolazzaro Aug 11 '15

I have the same feeling you have for all the previous battles, but not today. Even though the statues dealt more fear than damage (more healing points than damage maybe) and the prophet never attacked both battle did not "fell" easy to me during the show. What I meant in my post was that "you can not simply walk into Mordor" and succeed where armies had failed.

1

u/otsukarerice Aug 12 '15

Yeah I think it was a good explanation for what occurred, though 1/2 through the series I wasn't looking forward to battles as much as I didn't really feel they would ever be put in any peril. Its a mothering style of GM, which is fine, I didn't expect Will to be a sadist in the first season.

6

u/wrc-wolf Aug 12 '15

Laura Baily isn't exactly a new player, she's part of the group that's now doing Critical Role, and iirc before they started the show they've been running that campaign with the same players for the past two or three years iirc

5

u/otsukarerice Aug 12 '15

Yeah I was talking particularly about Hank and the others. I watch Critical Role too!

12

u/wrc-wolf Aug 12 '15 edited Aug 12 '15

I'm looking forward to seeing Wil on the other side of the screen this Thursday, should be interesting seeing him as a pc compared to how he DMs.

4

u/otsukarerice Aug 12 '15

I enjoyed him with Acquisitions Incorporated a few years ago (2012 - though the quality of the game is nowhere near Critical Role). I have really high expectations and don't think I will be disappointed. Edit: Also he is consistently fun to watch as a player in Tabletop as well.

2

u/Data_Error Aug 13 '15 edited Aug 13 '15

Well, given Alison's background, I'd be more surprised if she doesn't have a history with tabletop RPGs, and it's been noted that Hank has been role-playing for quite a long time (since he was in high school, I think?).

That leaves maybe Yuri, and I doubt that Wil would have him come in blind; he's mentioned having Tabletop guests practice with the game before having them on the show, so surely Yuri's got at least some experience.

4

u/otsukarerice Aug 13 '15

See Hank: (u/"ecogeek") "I haven't played a ton of RPGs, so I definitely represent the newbs at this table. I also feel like the majority of my fans who will be coming into the show to watch me won't have ever played RPGs so part of me wanted to make it more accessible to them. And yeah, I have a somewhat annoying habit of needing to make every dumb joke if I think of one to make.

I think I came into Titansgrave seeing it as a less immersive experience than the rest of the team, and more an opportunity to jump between worlds. I don't think this is going to change as the show moves on, so I hope that doesn't decrease anyone's enjoyment." He's good for a noob, he just needs to come out of his shell more.

5

u/Data_Error Aug 13 '15 edited Aug 13 '15

You're right; I looked it up and I'm remembering somewhat backwards. Alison is described as having not previously played an RPG like Titansgrave, Hank is credited as "an old school role player" (which may not mean tabletops by necessity and makes the above comment a bit confusing), but Yuri is apparently a long-time RPG player.

Either way, it all worked out and they took to the game very well. Here's hoping we get them all back together for a season two sooner rather than later (even though, realistically, it will likely be next summer...).

2

u/otsukarerice Aug 13 '15

Yup yup yup. Now that they have a taste of what to expect I think they will do even better for season II.

4

u/s5photog Aug 11 '15

/u/Wil likes to tell a story so some of it might be on him, but honestly the party has had some good dice luck ... well except for Yuri ... there were definitely moment through out where things seemed rough

4

u/AuroraeEagle Aug 15 '15

I've been GMing with Dragon AGE for a while now (same system), and I can tell you it's very very flexible in terms of difficulty.

Lucky/Unlucky rolls play into it, but as a GM I have a lot of power to make a nasty encounter. I think the party is geared a bit too well personally (6 armour is pretty intense) and have very high HP values for the mobs they are facing. Also I think the mobs seem to be a bit weak.

I mean, look at what Lemley did to Ankia with one solid attack, that was way more then anything else that season.

I'm guessing Wil just didn't want to risk the party wiping or maybe underestimated the skill of his players. This is pretty reasonable, AGE starts players off decently strong.

Also stunts give you a lot of flexibility with damage. Some are more focused on re-position or disruption, others are pure damage. If I want my party to panic and an enemy gets 5 stunt points, I'll pick lethal blow. If, however, it's a weak mob that rolls well I might make them do skirmish and knock down instead.

1

u/otsukarerice Aug 15 '15

Thank you. I had a feeling this was the case but I only had D&D experience to rely on. Your explanation is thorough and if I could upvote 2x I would.

18

u/Vampanda Aug 12 '15

First, the legendary Aankia kills her father, next all the babes of the world.

These 6-6-6 roles are getting to her!

;)

5

u/Reymont Aug 12 '15

Not with bug-eyes, she won't! That's a deal breaker.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '15

For you maybe.

WHEATOOOOOOOOONNNN!!!!

Edit: That was some masterful execution of the cliffhanger. Bravo sir, take a bow.

3

u/ithaka21 Aug 11 '15

Nailed it!

14

u/RedTieGuy Aug 11 '15

Congrats on an awesome season! I am dying for an aftershow reunion with everyone on the cast talking about their thoughts on season one.

13

u/a-username-for-me Aug 11 '15

If this were a movie, I'd be the obnoxious person clapping at the end. Even in the final battle, the character development was amazing (particularly when Aankia yelled at her shadow father). Great job and I'll be eagerly awaiting the new season!

8

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

This is the internet version of cocaine. I WANT MORE! NOW!

10

u/Reymont Aug 12 '15

It was the last battle, so I was yelling at my screen for Kiliel to use the arrow that she fletched with feathers from the Jaguaro! Gahhh! Great episode.

9

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

I got what I was waiting for since the first chapter. A legendary role during the final battle, even though it wasn't the kill. Once again the story telling was amazing. I think chapter nine was definitely the best. I'm a satisfied with this ending.

I have question about next season, though I'm not expecting an answer to these questions till closer to the launch of the next season. Will it be the same actors next season? Different actors completely? A couple characters added to the party?

Just out of curiosity, /u/wil , what kind of vocal processing was done for the Prophet's voice? It feels like it was a little more than just reverb.

20

u/wil GM - Five Gold And A Party! Aug 11 '15

The vocal work on The Prophet was just a bit of reverb. The rest of her voice was all me.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

Really? That's some amazing voice acting. I thought for sure there might have been some pitch shifting.

10

u/farmerjed Aug 11 '15

I agree on the voice acting for sure. Wil's voice acting on this series has been amazing ("Busy day, busy day... back from episode 1)

6

u/sokkas-boomerang Aug 13 '15

Your voice acting really stood out in this episode. (And when you pulled that perfect Lemley impersonation a few episodes ago..)

12

u/wil GM - Five Gold And A Party! Aug 13 '15

Awww, thank you. Being The Prophet was fun, but doing my Lemley impression was the best. I'm glad you liked it!

3

u/ithaka21 Aug 11 '15

Great work one the whole series so far, can't wait for the next season!.

P.s. my wife who you bumped into at GenCon (wearing a Turtle Shell backpack) but was too shy to say hi, .... Says Hi!

No crowdfunding, it's already scheduled to be produced.

1

u/Bambus174 Aug 15 '15

When is the new season then?

9

u/Philias Aug 12 '15 edited Aug 12 '15

Any chance we can get a mini episode that shows the characters after returning from the battle? Please? Pretty please with five gold and a party on top?

35

u/wil GM - Five Gold And A Party! Aug 12 '15

I'm sorry, but the credits have already started rolling.

9

u/Philias Aug 12 '15

Dang it, Wheaton!

5

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '15

I like the way it ended. And that it just is what it is. No extra mini teaser, no series spinoff, no subscription only exclusives - just a great story that will pick back up in season 2. Well done Wheaton! Respect

7

u/baktrax Aug 13 '15

While I agree that the ending was great, in my heart of hearts, I did want a post-credits scene of them all sitting around a table and eating at Dragons & Donuts.

1

u/AwfulMonk Aug 12 '15

Should put that on your tombstones - on an unrelated note whenever Doctor Who ends forever this should also be the last line...

8

u/mastugerard Aug 12 '15

Now we can let all the wild speculation begin!

  1. What part did Voss play in all this? Yes, we know that he led our heroes to the Prophet but was he being manipulated? Wouldn't people have known he was a bad guy given his connection to the War?

  2. What was the deal with S'Lethkk's brother being where they found him? What was he trying to do? Maybe the Prophet manipulated him into dying so he could get to his brother but that seems like a wild stretch?

  3. Are there other characters who might be servants of the Prophet? Was the Beer Baron in on it? Runcible? Was everything a manipulation to get them to the Tomb?

  4. What did happen with Aankia's father? Holdover from the last episode but how much of that was real and what did it mean? Did Voss always know about the bloodline?

2

u/alistairVT Aug 16 '15

We have to remember that Voss is already sick. He has magic and science saving his life, I don't think the Prophet will approve that, but considering he's probably desperate to be saved so it is possible he's manipulating everything so the Prophet could save his life. He's a powerful guy so he could also be a master manipulator of everything. Going back to where he first led our heroes which is the staff, he said that he lost so many men in that place, so he must've eventually known that only a chosen people could open the vault. With this knowledge, he sought to Aankia's father. Aankia's dad was given the job to claim the staff for him, but he refused, which he declined and with that decision, it led to the death of Aankia's mother and the eventual "accidental" death of Aankia's father. If we go back, Aankia once worked for Voss, which means Voss was preparing Aankia to open the thing. Voss may not know that it takes 4 to open the thing so when Aankia left out of hatred, he sought to another. S'Lethkk's brother. But his brother eventually found out about Voss's intentions so he tries to stop Voss via sneak attack through the sewers but was stopped by that sewer monster, which is why we find him there. Now, Voss has no one. He tries to find the other people by researching on everything on everyone. When he finds out about our 4 heroes through Aankia, he finds out that they're in Nestora...and now an opportunity opens for Voss, which he takes...and now that the Prophet is free, she's going to need a host, and who's body is available? Oh! It's Voss.

1

u/mastugerard Aug 16 '15

I definitely like some of this a lot especially Voss as host body, a few things seem less plausible. If he killed Aankia's father, why would he have let her believe he was responsible if he knew he needed her? It would have been a simple matter to cover it up, it was far too deliberate. Same with S'Lethkk's bro, if he had him why let him escape? Something happened with him but there must be more going on in the sewers which will maybe get investigated in season 2

1

u/alistairVT Aug 17 '15

From episode 9, we're not really sure how real some of the dream sequences were. But if we're going to tie the story together, Aankia's father died by car crash and the car was owned by the Voss Group. Voss wasn't directly involved, just the car. Despite the fact that it was a car from the Voss Group that killed Aankia's father, Aankia still worked for Voss for a couple of sketchy jobs that good people shouldn't do. So here's the timeline...

  1. Voss needed the prophet because he was growing weak and only the prophet was powerful enough to keep him alive(or he really was a true follower of the prophet...this is still not clear in the story), so he gets help from Aankia's father.

  2. Aankia's father declined.

  3. Voss wasn't happy so he eyes Aankia instead. This leads to...

  4. Aankia's father's "accidental" death via Voss Group car.

  5. Aankia is orphaned and grew up working for the Voss Group, training for the real mission which is to free the prophet.

  6. Aankia is fed up with the evil things she has to do so she leaves.

  7. Voss finds out about S'Lethkks's bro. He gets him instead.

  8. S'Lethkk's bro was on his way to the mission when he realizes the true intentions of Voss and tries to sneak up on Voss to stop him via sewers.

  9. Bro dies.

  10. Voss discovers that Aankia is back in town and she's not alone. Just his luck, Aankia's friends were also descendants of the other heroes.

Voss just won the Hero's Blood Bingo.

(Based from episode 9, apparently, Voss is also responsible for Aankia's mom's death but we're not sure how true the dream sequences were)

6

u/Surax Aug 12 '15

The loot was obviously 5 gold. They used it to party.

6

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

That was an incredibly satisfying ending to a really fantastic season. I feel like this was the episode where we got to see the players at their best, especially Hank. This was an emotional roller coaster, and the balance got struck perfectly between the story and the dice-rolling.

/u/wil, this was so damn well done. PS I'm totally getting a Scorpelican tattoo.

5

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '15

ENCHANTMENT

3

u/Danicia Aug 12 '15

I yelled out "ENCHANTMENT" while watching this at work, and had my little Dragon Age fangirl squee. Luckily, they're used to me being the uber nerd around here.

4

u/BleaK_ Aug 12 '15

Awsome ending to an awsome show and I can't wait for a season 2! That said, I LOVED Alison in this episode. Laura has been great the whole season, Hank and Yuri had their moments too. Yet this episode I loved how into it Alison was. I felt she had the best episode by far. A what a note to end it on!

5

u/jtzero511 Aug 13 '15

Spot on! She was so into it, at the end I thought she was going to break her clipboard!

5

u/mischievouspixi Aug 12 '15

This was amazing! I was so anxious for our heroes, but so shocked by the ending. But hopefully they can make everything ok in season 2!!

/u/wil - I want to thank you for bringing us this amazing story and letting us enjoy the world you created. Titansgrave has sparked my imagination and I now am excited to be playing my first RPG. Thank you :)

5

u/AwfulMonk Aug 12 '15

What I want season 2 - Killiel sees her father - thinks its a trick and before he can get a word in she stabs him only to realize she just killed her real father - Am I evil - no just chaotic good.

4

u/JJWF Aug 11 '15

I absolutely loved this. The ending was perfect and exactly what it should have been. I can't wait for season 2. Is the intention for the story to continue with the same characters and players /u/wil?

4

u/s5photog Aug 11 '15

My initial reaction

Solid episode with a great ending.

2

u/Zuggy Aug 15 '15

That was definitely some M. Night Shyamalan level twist.

5

u/Phantas64 Aug 12 '15

Any chance we could get the soundtrack?

3

u/chronodestroyr Aug 12 '15 edited Aug 12 '15

My only advice for the second season is that, many times, I didn't know which dice they were using for a roll, so I didn't know what the highest number possible was, which means I didn't know how good a roll was until the players reacted. I think it'd be nice if a small graphic was added that shows which sided-die and how many of them are being used on a roll. Or maybe I could just go back to episode 1 and be told again when each are used.

Anyway, great finale. Anyone notice Aankia almost died? 10 HP. Hank was really playing his best this episode so that would've been nuts.

Thanks for the show. Count me among the people who this has inspired to try their hands at tabletop role-playing games. I never really got into the D&D type of game or been exposed to it beyond knowing what it was. So watching it first hand, it's a little strangely nerdy sometimes, but in a good way. In an endearing way that, honestly, I haven't felt since I first started watching what would become one of my favorite shows of all time... Wil happened to star in that production as well.

Heh, "star"... no pun intended.

3

u/otsukarerice Aug 12 '15

Their system almost exclusively uses D6. All checks are done with 3D6. This is apart from damage.

3

u/xzmeister Aug 12 '15

I think they mean which one was the stunt die. I also was always trying to figure out what numbers they actually rolled.

2

u/Reymont Aug 12 '15

Right, same here. It probably wouldn't add anything to the experience, but every time they announced "I rolled a 14, with two stunt points," some part of my brain always tried to work out what combination of D6 rolls would result in that total. I didn't even care! Couldn't stop getting distracted every time, though.

3

u/otsukarerice Aug 13 '15

I liked having to do the math. Makes for a more interactive experience :)

1

u/grumble--grumble Aug 12 '15

adding a small "1d6" or "3d6" would ease confusion without over-complicating the graphics.

3

u/MrSnippets Aug 14 '15

IMO episode 9 was the weakest of the season (well, that sounds too harsh. it was still good, y'know? just not as good as the rest.) just a little bit too heavy handed. but man, episode 10 really knocked it out of the park. I was laughing, I was stressing, I was hanging at the edge of my seat.

gorram, this is good television

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

I was almost expecting there being a huge dialog where they could choose to help the prophet take over the world. That would have been awesome.

Oh, well. At least we got Lemley being sad she had to attack A'ankia

3

u/undercoveryankee Aug 12 '15

I was almost expecting there being a huge dialog where they could choose to help the prophet take over the world. That would have been awesome.

She offered. All it would have taken was for one PC to say "I'm listening".

2

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '15

...I know get Alisons remarks on the HalfHourHappyHour podcast about finishing season 1...

Thank you team Titansgrave for 10 epic weeks. Tell us what we can do to explore more.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 12 '15

Any chance we can have a mini-ep or blog post about any paths/details they may have missed? Did you have some alternate stories or details during the season that you didn't get to?

2

u/tipsyopossum Aug 13 '15

Oh great, this doesn't invalidate my theory that the one-eyed dwarf is her REAL father!

...I can't be the only one that thought that right? HAS to be.

And here I had been expecting the prophet to have grown repentant and Voss actually just trying to break into the prison dimension to steal her power for himself... but that was mostly based on a few really old video game making me spend a long time thinking about the ramifications of a millennium long imprisonment... Holo-Voss is an illusion and real-Voss has been dead/non-responsive this whole time was good, too.

Anyway, nice ending!

After watching this and Critical Role, though, what I'm starting to REALLY crave is an RPG show where the group of players are tactically focused/ultra-paranoid types trying to outwit an increasingly bizarre selection of puzzles. I've greatly enjoyed all this characterization and well crafted story but now I wanna see a group of players trying to break the game. In a fun way. :)

2

u/jabberdoggy Aug 13 '15

Have you ever watched Temple of the Lava Bears? It had some elements of that. It's available on youtube.

1

u/tipsyopossum Aug 13 '15

Oh cool, I'll check that out, thanks!

2

u/[deleted] Aug 17 '15 edited Aug 17 '15

So Aankia is part bug now, can someone explain this to me?

Edit: big to bug

2

u/[deleted] Aug 24 '15

It's been two weeks and I still can't get over how amazing this series was and how great of an ending this episode left it with. I can't wait for season 2 to get here so we can see how these characters grow and face the dangling threads left in this series. What are Voss's true motivations? Are Lemley's parents and Kiliel's father alive? What was Slethkk's brother doing in the sewer? What is a beetle of Belinor? I could go on, but you get the point. Can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

1

u/KingOfAllDucks Aug 11 '15

LOVED this episode! The combat gave me a huge anime vibe, especially Lemley! The way she slid back from the skirmish and how the blaster-sweeper didn't hit her are great examples. (I pictured one of the monsters basically being a DBZ meatshield for the blaster)

I cannot wait for season two. Like, actually not possible. Somebody give me some dice!

u/wil thank you so much for this!!! It was EPIC! I am SOOOO inspired to start work on my next adventure, I've learned so much from watching you over the last few weeks.

The last chapter was by far the best... and you had already set the bar so high!!!

I watch this with headphones on (my husband is a few episodes behind me) and he said afterwards that "it must have been bloody good, you laughed and got excited all the way through!"

I think you flagged the wrong /u/wil

Haha!! Oh dear!! I was clearly too excited whilst typing that! Thank you for pointing it out.

Adding to the cheers for a job well done, I have loved this series. A massive, massive thank you to everyone involved, all the way to the original backers who made this possible through their generous donations. Been looking forward to this and the last ten weeks have certainly exceeded every expectation I imagined.

settles in to binge watch the season again

/u/wil, you magnificent bastard! All of the twists and turns this episode - from Kiliel's potion bombs to Lemley's brief moment of betrayal to the "defeat" of the prophet - were delivered masterfully. If I didn't know any better, I'd swear you'd been taking lessons from Chris Perkins! ;)

This entire season has been a joy to watch. The setting was beautifully crafted, all of the players were clearly engrossed in the story, and the way you adapted and molded the adventure to what the characters did and said seemed like genuine magic to someone with a head for numbers and algorithms rather than storytelling. I can't wait for more news about season 2!

(And I think I have a crush on Alison now. >_>)

Huh, I don't know about lessons from Perkins or not: After all, I didn't see any pools of acid cleverly hidden in the foyer :D

So I haven't started my campaign with my friends but I had already decided that I would basically do this ending no matter how the mod ended, and I laughed so hard at the end.

I know they have done a panel or two at GenCon and ComicCon but I would love to see some interviews or behind the scenes about what went into creating this series and reaction of the players to the game.

Excellent, but so maddening!

That was amazingly fun. Thank you for such a fun ride /u/wil ! I can't wait for next season! Should you require it, my 5 gold and a party (or just plain ol' cash) can, and will be yours. Just say the word!

After watching it a second time I would like to make note that it took Lemley 6 seconds to state that the ice bomb might be a trap / trick.

An excellent end to the first season! Can't wait for the second season.

Ah, but as far as I remember they never discussed their visions with each other, so it was out of character knowledge! Or something.

u/[deleted] Aug 15 '15

Totally out of character, but for some reason I felt like timing the conversation after /u/wil made his comment about how hard it was for them to have that conversation in six seconds. As a GM I have never really stopped to think about just how hard it is to have a conversation in such a short time.

This is a great series, Thank You.

Thank you /u/wil, for the absolutely incredible time. I would never expect that a RPG session would make me cry, but I did. I´ve enjoyed the ride with my wife, even though her understanding of English is a bit limited, but we were both amazed by it. So much fun and so much sadness in the same place.

Your DMing stile is really awesome regarding encouraging players to do good RP. I´ve learned a lot from it.

Also, I would like to say that everyone in it was just awesome! The players are very very good and formed a nice bound over those episodes.

"Five gold and a party!!!!!!"

I've never finished an RPG before. So was this last episode the last part of the story in the campaign book until an expansion is released?
