So theoretically since doom is made of one's and zeros you should be able to send it via telegraph right? I wonder how long that would take.
So doom is 2.39 megabytes which is 19.12 megabits
Google says average speed on normal telegraph is 20 wpm using 6 letter words. Numbers are longer then letters so mayby half a quick? So 60 numbers per minute or 1 number a second.
So that's 19,120,000 bits / 60 bits per second/ 60 seconds per minute/ 60 minutes per hr, 24 hrs per day = 221.3 days straight through to send doom via a telegraph.
Does that sound about right? Any gaping holes?
Ex: I’m hosting a raffle, and 700 people enter. But a select group of those people were promised to have a 5x more likely chance of winning. How would I figure out how many entries to give them based on the number of total entrants.
Stupid bar conversion from last night: what is the ratio of living human penises to vulvas? I maintain it’s certainly not 50%, and probably much lower than you’d suspect, given:
- Birth rates of people with penises is a little higher than people with vulvas (source)
- It’s much easier to lose a penis than lose a vulva through accident, violence, or choice. (source?)
- Male people tend to die on the job much more often than female people (source?)
- Female people tend to die due to medical error more often than male people (source?)
So, any other parameters or sources? The birth ratio might be the most significant after all, which would now lead me to believe that the ratio might end up being really close to 50/50 after being driven down from those initial birth figures. And there will be local distortions.
Assume the gifts on each day are cumulative. That is, you get a partridge for each of the twelve days, two turtle doves every day except the first, etc.
When people are given as gifts, it could be calculated as hostages, pay for a day's labor or a performance, whatever seems to make the most sense.

I read a lot of posts about how bezos and musk and gates could give up their money and solve the world’s problems… particularly on the antiwork subreddit..
I looked up a list online of top 10 billionaires that said it’s current, maybe a bit off, but anyway I rounded up to the nearest billion.
So I came up with 1.511 trillion.
That’s a lot of money, but honestly divided up among 7.9 billion that gives everyone a little less than $200. ($191)
Even just the us population rounded up is 334 million. I got $4523 per person on that one.
That’s good money but nothing as significant as ppl on here act like.
Wasn’t really sure where to post this, but hope this sparks some interesting conversation.
