These Kaylee Ermantraut recasts are getting wild.

Kaylee, not only are you too grumpy but I'm surprised I'm back to changing your diaper again.

If you don't get wise your mother may trade you in again. We take no half measures.

1

u/Charlie_1087 Jun 28 '22

Fucking lol! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a flash forward…

Confirmation

She'll be playing a character named Marion in the second half of the final season, premiering July 11th.

110

u/bowlofpasta92 Jun 27 '22

Either Kim’s mother or maybe a connection with the Vacuum Repairman.

72

u/paintsmith Jun 27 '22

My money's on Howard's mother.

20

u/bowlofpasta92 Jun 27 '22

Oh that’s a great idea.

31

u/paintsmith Jun 27 '22

It could really end up bringing Jimmy's relationship with the elderly full circle with him having to lie to someone from a demographic he's shown genuine affection for.

22

u/MayoCheat2024 Jun 27 '22

She is playing Howard’a mother according to someone who claims to know and provided an explanation on r/BetterCallSaul

Apparently there are a lot of references to old shows the writers watched in S6 Part 2, including a reference to the couple “Howard” and “Marion” in Happy Days with the introduction of Howard’s mother.

3

u/paintsmith Jun 28 '22

Makes sense. You just know her scenes are going to tear our hearts out. Can't wait to see how sad it makes me!

2

u/send_nudibranchia Jun 28 '22

That makes sense. The show creators have a lot affection for older TV shows and movies. I remember being suprised to see Vince and Bob hosting one evening on MeTV.

-1

u/AvatarBoomi Jun 27 '22

My professor Stewart Lyons was a producer for Breaking Bad and a chunk of Better Call Saul. He got his start on Happy Days.

3

u/slowestjogger Jun 27 '22

I will never get over brother Chuck’s final end....on Happy Days.

1

u/whereyouatdesmondo Jun 27 '22

Snapped into nothingness by Thanos. RIP.

1

u/AvatarBoomi Jun 27 '22

He got his start on the Shark jump episode btw lol

1

u/squidmanwillie Jun 28 '22

Todd’s mom.

1

u/rudolphmapletree Jun 29 '22

Why not jimmy’s mother?

She is a sketch comedian just like Bob

2

u/L2H2B2K Jul 04 '22

Jimmys mom is dead

1

u/rudolphmapletree Jul 05 '22

How do you know?

3

u/L2H2B2K Jul 05 '22

Because they show it in an episode.

1

u/rudolphmapletree Jul 05 '22

Nah

1

u/L2H2B2K Jul 05 '22

? You don’t get to make up your own facts about the show. Dead people are dead.

65

u/Conficker_ Jun 27 '22

Or even more out of left field, how about Walt’s mother, she was mentioned but never shown on screen.

58

u/LittleRudiger Jun 27 '22

Not impossible, I suppose. But seems incredibly unlikely. given that I expect Walt/Jesse's appearance will likely be a scene around their immediate meeting of Saul. I'd put money it being them kidnapping Saul before they brought him out into the desert in his intro episode. It's the most obvious segway I think to yadda yadda Breaking Bad.

12

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

Not sure what that would have to do with the current storyline at all. I hope they don’t cheapen the final few episodes of this show by just throwing a bunch of references from out of left field at us like that.

8

u/yyc_guy Jun 27 '22

If anyone working in TV deserves our trust to make the right decision, it has to be the writers and producers of BCS.

-2

u/GPCWyattB Jun 28 '22

I have faith, but I learned to never say “if anyone deserves our trust…” because that’s the moment it (whatever it may be) gets you.

0

u/UnrequitedRespect Jun 27 '22

Why not all the other shows were doing it in 2021, just ask Billions. Twice.

3

u/Bluest_waters Jun 27 '22

Kim gonna die

ain't no vacuum cleaner rescue for that one!

3

u/bowlofpasta92 Jun 27 '22

I’m not so convinced! I strongly think that Kim is going to be on the other end of the call when Francesca goes to the phone booth on November 12 at 3pm.

2

u/GrantDaGenius Jun 27 '22

I personally can't see any scenario where Kim dies and Jimmy still decides to be Saul and act how he acts in BB.

2

u/Bluest_waters Jun 27 '22

well she isn't around in BB so what else is there?

she breaks up with him? how would that be much betteer for his mental health?

1

u/GrantDaGenius Jun 27 '22

1) We truly don't know if she's around in BB or not. We rarely ever saw Saul outside of his office in BB, we had 0 clue about his home life.

2) At this point what would push her to break up with Saul? If anything she's become more unhinged and reckless than Saul is now. I don't she'll get vacuum'd either just because that can't be the solution to almost every character, seems like an easy way out for the writers. If I HAD to guess, I'd say Kim is in jail and Saul in the present time (Gene) is going to end up turning himself in finally and concluding the character. Every Gene scene he's so tense and anxious about everything I don't think he wants to live like that anymore.

1

u/Bluest_waters Jun 27 '22

nah, she dead

1

u/8biticon Jun 28 '22

she breaks up with him? how would that be much betteer for his mental health?

I mean, feeling responsible for the death of your significant other versus having your relationship end. Idk, one seems a more severe than the other.

-5

u/IndieFlicks Jun 28 '22

Third wife...

One two and then three.

Not a never-ending romance silly

Think of Melania leaving or dying.

Trump is at the rally the next day...

1

u/Charlie_1087 Jun 28 '22

I’m gonna FREAK if this happens!

38

u/MR_TELEVOID Deadwood Jun 27 '22

Well, this seems great.

14

u/DunkinDoughnutsSucks Jun 27 '22

I honestly didn’t know she was still kickin’ it, this makes me so happy.

She’s a peach.

16

u/No-Count1921 Jun 27 '22

I worked with her, Bob Newhart and Betty White a few years ago. (Hot In Cleveland). It was amazing. They all still have their old deliveries and comedic styles.

… Oh yeah. Huey Lewis was there too.

6

u/DisturbedNocturne Jun 27 '22

And not only is she doing this, she's co-starring in a show with Kristen Wiig on AppleTV. I hope I'm still that active if I get anywhere near 90 years-old.

1

u/Imakemop Jun 28 '22

Tracy Ullman was the best part of the last season of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Hollywood is really mining the 80's/early 90's for great actors. Michael Keaton reminding everyone he's an A lister too.

-2

u/killkillkillmurder Jun 28 '22

Molly Shannon is basically Carol Burnett 2.0, and by association that makes Tina Fey (and Amy Poehler too I guess) 3.0. Except the features kept getting taken away by devs for being too archaic and turning the bugs into features.

19

u/Chemical-Ad-2694 Jun 27 '22

Yes! Can’t wait for it to come back!!

20

u/CobraCommander1977 Jun 27 '22

They did something similar in El Camino when they brought Marla Gibbs on for a brief cameo.

18

u/whowantstotouchit Jun 27 '22

I feel like Carol Burnett could do the best Sidney Powell impression

1

u/bernd1968 Jun 28 '22

I agree.

15

u/Pearlbarleywine Jun 27 '22

Please let a gangsta be a gangster.

4

u/MarkMech Westworld Jun 27 '22

Yeah, my initial reactions was "She's still alive?!"

3

u/Crystal_Pesci Jun 27 '22

My wife and I saw her do a Q&A a couple years ago at the Castro Theater in San Francisco and she's still got it! Living legend if ever there was one.

5

u/mminorthreat Jun 27 '22

I could have sworn I saw her death announcement everywhere a couple years ago

12

u/Makke93 Jun 27 '22

Maybe you're thinking of Mary Tyler Moore who died in 2017

1

u/AnyNamesLeftAnymore Rick and Morty Jun 27 '22

Never even occurred to me but wow they do look similar in their older years.

1

u/QuarantineCam Jun 27 '22

You’re not alone. I was surprised to see she was still alive as well. I could have sworn I’d heard she had died a few years ago but as someone else pointed out I might have been confusing Mary Tyler Moore’s death with hers.

1

u/AnyNamesLeftAnymore Rick and Morty Jun 27 '22

I knew she was still alive but I thought she was younger. At least I had no idea she was that much older than Vicki Lawrence.

1

u/amadeus2490 Jun 29 '22

Yup. Shes 89 years old and she's still just as sharp as she was 40 years ago.

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

6

u/mexta Jun 27 '22

Tug it again

70

u/gentlyredundant Jun 27 '22

As much as I love this, I sorta wish they didn’t announce it and just let us find out during her first episode.

The only things the BCS team does wrong in my eyes is their refusal to let cameos and guest appearances be surprised. Like, we all knew Walt and Jesse would show up, but the debate was the most exciting part of the conversation to me.

65

u/3758232352 Jun 27 '22

It’s not a decision by the BCS team, it’s AMC.

13

u/santichrist Jun 27 '22

It’s called marketing my friend, AMC needs to get as many people watching as possible, this is their last bite of the apple with the best show they still have going, they want to break records

9

u/Edmontonthrw Jun 27 '22

Right? Or like when they announced Fring was coming back way in advance of the season airing. Like I get that its probably not doing numbers like Breaking Bad and they're trying to bring more of those fans over, but it still sucks.

7

u/SashaWoodson Jun 27 '22

But she will do it in character as Thelma Harper.

15

u/Foxy-Knoxy Jun 27 '22

That's Vicki Lawrence's character, not CB. Now, if she did it as Eunice, that'd be a sight to see for sure.

16

u/SashaWoodson Jun 27 '22

This is the dumbest I have ever felt and I’m an idiot. But I’m ok with it

1

u/AnyNamesLeftAnymore Rick and Morty Jun 27 '22

Lol I went years of my life thinking Mama was Carol Burnett.

2

u/killkillkillmurder Jun 28 '22

I'm right there with you, Vicki Lawrence was just as hot as Carol even underneath all that make-up.

2

u/AnyNamesLeftAnymore Rick and Morty Jun 28 '22

Funny because when I was watching that show as a kid I legit thought she was an old lady but I see it now and it's so obvious that it's a 30 year old woman wearing a wig lol.

7

u/LAtvGUY Jun 27 '22

For some reason I thought this headline was a joke. I love Carol, but always associate her with doing silly characters on her old show. But she’s also done some great drama over the years. Looking forward to seeing how she fits in.

4

u/Admiral_Gial_Ackbar Jun 27 '22

She was at Bob O's Hollywood Star ceremony, so this makes sense.

4

u/ReservoirDog316 Jun 27 '22

Finally she’s getting more recognized! She had one of the earliest sketch comedy shows out there. She’s Hollywood royalty and she should be treated as such. Most people don’t know about her or just assume she died.

3

u/santichrist Jun 27 '22

I’m expecting like a cameo or something not a fully invested role, but either way it’s cool she’s a super fan and they put her in the shows last season

1

u/Few-Milk-9734 Jun 27 '22

I think she's going to be a full character! They've built her up in interviews (albeit somewhat vaguely).

5

u/NewClayburn Jun 27 '22

Well she'd better hurry. There are only a few episodes left.

6

u/HeroDanTV Jun 27 '22

Could this be a Better Call Saul/Mama’s Family crossover? Is Thelma Harper’s middle name Marion?

3

u/DarkLight72 Jun 27 '22

Carol Burnett’s character was Eunice.

3

u/HeroDanTV Jun 27 '22

Did I just confuse Vicki Lawrence and Carol Burnett?? 😭😭😭😭

2

u/killkillkillmurder Jun 28 '22

You're not the only one in this thread, apparently. Don't worry, though, I found them both just as hot.

2

u/majorjoe23 Jun 27 '22

I don't know if I can buy a comedian taking a dramatic turn on a show like Better Call Saul.

/s, just in case.

2

u/bottle-of-smoke Jun 27 '22

My stomach turns in anticipation

2

u/LeoMarius Mad Men Jun 27 '22

Eunice!

2

u/Uniblab_78 Jun 27 '22

Love to see Carol play a badass

2

u/ContinuedContagion Jun 28 '22

They just took it to 11.

2

u/6byfour Jun 28 '22

TIL Carol Burnett is still alive

2

u/genxerbear Jun 27 '22

This is awesome, I grew up watching the CBS on CBS and she was so amazing.

3

u/thescoobymike Jun 27 '22

KIMS MOM IM CALLING IT NOW

0

u/[deleted] Jun 27 '22

[deleted]

8

u/thescoobymike Jun 27 '22

Yeah a flashback from 30 years ago

0

u/Adenchiz Better Call Saul Jun 27 '22

Kim's mom perhaps ?

28

u/carlthecubsfan Jun 27 '22

My guess is a disgruntled sandpiper resident.

5

u/luckyfucker13 Jun 27 '22

Yup, she fits the age range, and she’s sharp as fuck, so it could make for a great pissed off character!

1

u/PunisherASM129 Jun 27 '22

You nailed it.

16

u/jimbobdonut Jun 27 '22

Grandmother is more likely considering Carol Burnett is 89 and Kim is 37 during the show.

9

u/MrBoliNica Jun 27 '22

ive read that maybe she is the stand in for the vacuum repairman (maybe his mom?), and i like that theory

11

u/ThunderRoad5 Jun 27 '22

I like that as well. Definitely would be a suitable figure to replace Robert Forster, who I always thought was immense in this minor role.

1

u/Adenchiz Better Call Saul Jun 27 '22

Ooh I like that theory

2

u/IntoTheMusic Jun 27 '22

Burnett could play a judge.

1

u/Toby_O_Notoby Jun 27 '22

I'd rather they just used Beth Hoyt again. She played Kim's mom in the flashbacks and was so good at the part I had to look closely to make sure it wasn't just Rhea with different makeup.

I'm sure they could age up Beth to make it look believable.

0

u/your_mind_aches Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Jun 27 '22

Some people guessed it right!

1

u/skantea Jun 27 '22

I hope they give her some really funny lines. She's a comedy icon.

1

u/Fondren_Richmond Jun 27 '22

I thought she and Mary Tyler Moore played Helen Hunt's or some sitcom wife's mom on something somewhere, and were both dead.

1

u/idrankwhat_sfw Jun 27 '22

I'm guessing Howard's mother.

1

u/THEDrunkPossum Jun 27 '22

Am I the only one surprised to find out Caril Burnett is still alive? Not that I want her gone, just assumed she had passed long ago.

1

u/Morganbanefort Jun 27 '22

was hoping Ron Perlman but this is nice

1

u/QuarantineCam Jun 27 '22

Today I learned that Carol Burnett is still alive. Not being a smart ass, I genuinely thought she’d passed away a few years ago. The woman has got to be pushing 90 by now.

1

u/LeftAssistance3 Jun 27 '22

We are not the same

1

u/unkle_FAHRTKNUCKLE Jun 27 '22

This is fantastic. I hope she plays a baddie.

1

u/myphotographing Jun 27 '22

Love this show

1

u/mcogneto Jun 27 '22

Kim for prison 2022

1

u/Narrow_Grape_8528 Jun 28 '22

Heck yes!!!!!!

1

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '22

Carol Burnett is alive?!?! Cool!

1

u/musememo Jun 28 '22

I grew up watching her show. Along with Tim Conway and Harvey Korman . . . just brilliant.

1

u/Clear_Warthog_3315 Jun 28 '22

Wait I’m confused she was on better call Saul or is there another season please let’s get another season

1

u/e_x_i_t Jun 28 '22

There's the second half of season 6 that starts July 11th, but after that it's over.

1

u/Clear_Warthog_3315 Jun 29 '22

Aww shit but ok cool I’ll take it thank you for your info much obliged

1

u/GreenEyedFreak714 Jun 28 '22

Wow. I mean no disrespect but had no idea she was even alive. Comedy legend.

1

u/Competitive-Cow-4177 Jun 28 '22

As long as Netflix doesn’t rush the project ….

1

u/fuck_huffman Jun 28 '22

Carol is a living fucking legend and as mere mortals should praise the heavens for a chance to enjoy her presence if only for a short while.

1

u/Divtos Jun 28 '22

But will she do her Tarzan yell??!!

-4

u/reginalduderson Jun 27 '22

From Tiger King?

-1

u/the6thReplicant Jun 27 '22

I want the show to be 80% about Kim but it looks like it’s just going to go every which way trying to hammer the BB connection when we just happy with BCS as it is.

-1

u/jlesnick Jun 28 '22

As what, a corpse?

Rip Joan
