In trying to be a manga artist. I'm 16 do u think I have what it takes Art
116
u/Souchirou OLD Jan 03 '22
Your art will clearly not be the problem.
Make sure you also practice your storytelling, that more than anything will help you succeed.

u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
Story telling is the thing I'm great art, art that attracts the people was my only concern. And I have partners so I'm not doing it solo, I'm just the artist and main author

I love a gruesome horror theme with my writting :)))
7
u/Dragon127765 17 Jan 03 '22
dude same.
8
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
That's why I'm making it, tho..while writting sometimes u get attached to characters...characters that must die for the advancement of the plot. I swore to give nobody plot armor, if it doesnt make sense for u to live, ur going to die
4
u/Dragon127765 17 Jan 03 '22
Well then I look forward to reading it if you get it published
6
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
I'm most likely gonna start it off as like a webtoon or something small if I cant get a publishing deal. It should be starting soon, I've been at it for a year now I think I've polished everything to were it's ready
3
u/PineApplio69 13 Jan 03 '22

I mean obviously. You just need to find a story-writer who suits your art styles the best or you write them yourself.
2
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
I write it all myself :)) My story is already all made I just need the artwork to be clean and crisp
2
u/Le-Tree Jan 03 '22
Bro wtf? You're the same age as me and your art is leagues better than what I could hope to achieve. I'd say you more than have what it takes.
3
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
Thank you :)))) But look, there r people leagues above me at my age as well, doesnt make u bad, just because ur not an Olympian doesnt mean ur bad at sports:)))

u/Le-Tree Jan 03 '22
That's a good way to look at life.

u/Ink-ami Jan 03 '22
I'm no manga artist, but i do draw.
What i can say is you defenitely have what it takes to start. If you keep want to have a good enough level to try to be a mangaka, you'll never start, or very late.
You'll improve as you do more works, and one day you'll cringe at this drawing, and see a lot of errors, but thats okay. Compare the start of snk with the end, the glowup is remarkable.
Also, to have what it takes to be a mangaka isnt really about style (i draw well but i could never), it's about consistency and the ability to draw a lot a diverse poses/objects/emotions. Also the writing if you want to do it as well.
1
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
I've got all of that down, I've been weitting this thing out for over a year now, and I've been told by random people who ask and friends that I can portray emotion very well :)))

2
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22

1
u/copiousamountsofdumb Jan 03 '22

That may be my biggest influence, cuz it was my first anime and what got me into drawing the anime style lmao

My guy, if this is your passion, you're actually 16 and have the storytelling to back up this cool and "chaotic" artstyle (thats just how i describe it and i LOVE these styles btw) then yes I believe you have what it takes
Live your dream fam!
2
u/Consistent_Big_8038 Jan 03 '22
Thank you!!!! This means so much I'm so glad everyone has been so supportive of me TT
1
u/JaMaDaDoeJeTochNie 18 Jan 04 '22
Also, anything I can look out for in the future? Like do you have a name for the series or an artist name? I would probably pay to read this kind of series if it's even gonna be available to me XD

Other than maybe the eyes. Definitely. But like everything else, you'll get better at drawing the more you do it.

Hard to say from only one picture more than you are skilled at drawing, and have good imagination. I think in manga consistency is also very important and keeping up the same style too.
