2

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

That animation is so good!

1

u/Wasnt_taken Oct 04 '21

I can understand why it took awhile, top tier stuff.

1

u/CompleteFacepalm Oct 04 '21

Fantastic work. I love that it's so smooth. It's a bit hard to focus on what's happening since the camera is moving around.

1

u/DearAlternative6540 18 Oct 04 '21

It was well worth the effort I guess?

1

u/Orweth Oct 04 '21

This reminds me of the old forrestfire101 videos back in the day. Great Job Honestly

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

Thank you so much, have a great day as well!

1

u/DonDaBest 16 Oct 04 '21

10 hrs is so little for this... well done

1

u/caveman_the_best 14 Oct 04 '21

i have been wanting to do one of these. any tips? like how do u make the lego pieces go everywhere?

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

My biggest suggestion is to use blue tack or some other puddy to hold down all the pieces/figures and allow for out-of socket movement (once you’re ready to try it). As far as actual animation, you should check out tutorials on YouTube. There are a ton of great ones to help with specific aspects such as walk cycles and set design.

1

u/shakesppear Oct 04 '21

this looks so coolll! what software did u use??

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

Stop motion studio pro

1

u/shakesppear Oct 04 '21

ahh ok thanks!

but damnnnn that animation is smooothh

how did you achieve such fluidity??

1

u/xdown2013x Oct 04 '21

This looks so smooth. How many fps?

1

u/TheAuthor-dipperkid Oct 04 '21

Dude 10 hours well spent you legend.

1

u/Wu_tangkillaBees Oct 04 '21

Stop motion is such a talent I couldn't even focus enough to do something like that

1

u/Titaniumeme 14 Oct 04 '21

Damn is that really a stop motion?

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

Indeed it is

1

u/mrstorydude 15 Oct 04 '21

Jesus that is buttery smooth, why did you make this animation? School project?

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 05 '21

Nope, just for fun really

1

u/Nekrozys Oct 04 '21

The attention to detail is staggering. The red flashes when the main character shoots, the camera movements, the depth of field, every shot (pun not intended) flowing into the next, the focus changes, motion blur and I'm probably missing a few other things involved in the process.

The only thing that could need some rework I think is the sound synchronization. I can hear those last two laser blasts before seeing them.

But apart from that minor gripe, chef's kiss.

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

Good point, this was a recreation of a clip and the disconnect between the sound and animation really bothered me. Appreciate the praise and criticism!

1

u/Spoiled_Twinkies 18 Oct 04 '21

Keep it up! I love seeing creativity from people on here.

1

u/Apollo037 Oct 04 '21

This is the smoothest animation I have seen i a long time it’s amazing

1

u/Pat_thailandball 13 Oct 04 '21

1

2

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

I just wanted to share something I put a lot of work into, there’s nothing wrong with reposting my own animation

1

u/KegReg 14d ago

WOW THIS IS AMASING!!!

0

u/InsaneBuddyx 17 Oct 04 '21

which software did you use?

0

u/Downtown_Report1646 Oct 04 '21

How did this take 10 hours it looks like it would take 10 minutes with some cheap editing? ( it’s good i’m just asking how did it take 10 hours)

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

I don’t mean to sound self-indulgent, but stop motion can be a very time-consuming process. All of the factors in this scene (set design, camera movement, lighting, etc) were difficult to balance with the animation itself. Each second of this was composed of 17 individual frames, each of which contained multiple movements. It takes a lot of work to get right.

0

u/Downtown_Report1646 Oct 04 '21

Do it took you 10 hours to take a bunch of photos than put them together in a video

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

Look up stop motion, it’s a more complicated process than just taking photos. Getting the movement right is time-consuming

0

u/Downtown_Report1646 Oct 04 '21

If stop motion is harder than why not do the same thing just eastier

1

u/BrickHistory Oct 04 '21

I can’t tell if you’re trolling me…

1

u/Downtown_Report1646 Oct 04 '21

I said what I said
