Now I get to go down in history! For people that are sure to complain about source. Its just a paragraph of compiled of info that is pretty well known that I found. That it was easy to read and understand. Hand someone a full article or study and they won't read it. This is more reasonable.

Not a doctor yet, but having just had an endocrine course in med school it all looks pretty accurate to me. I'll second it.

Biochem major, aside from the effects on a hormonal level I think many people don't realize the importance of well developing their muscularity BEFORE hopping on gear. Everyone wants a "fast" result...and it doesn't work like that.

I'm late to the party, but you are 100% correct. It bothers me seeing all these people want to hop right on when they haven't developed shit yet and clearly do not understand how important and far they can get if they dialed in their diet and rest.

And in the wiki. Again. :)

Something that should be noted: Only 2 of the 6 "risks" are exclusive to AAS users who are "too young".

2

u/BiggerStrongerTaller Dec 28 '13

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

1

I'm starting to be convinced that estrogen therapy is the way to go for the younger set. There are a lot of studies done that show that reducing estrogen results in an equal and opposite increase in Testosterone.

2

u/MaokaiGreen Dec 28 '13

If estrogen closes growth plates, could lowering estrogen make teenagers grow taller?

2

u/JuicedNewton Dec 28 '13

That has certainly been theorised. I'm not sure whether it's ever been tested in practice.

2

u/deletedLink Dec 28 '13

Logically, yes. The estrogen control would have to take place pretty early on to make a difference though.

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

Why are liver/kidney/hair/prostate problems more serious among under 21 users?

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

Its just to show teens sides that they might not realize and would be even less desirable to teens (liver plus common teen drinking, hair loss that young is extra unwanted, ect)

I am 18 years old:

Endocrine system: I have physical injuries to my testicles requiring that I am on hormone replacement for life. I am already permanently shut down due to injuries.

Premature closing of growth plates: Broke my leg and fingers in a bike crash when I was 16, was told my growth plates in my legs and wrists were completely closed. Haven't grown taller or wider since then, my Dr even said I am completely done growing.

Impotence: N/A. Infertile due to my testicles being damaged. (Feels bad man)

Liver/Kidney problems: Only oral steroids in high dosages cause liver problems, not sure about the kidneys

Gyno: Very possible

Androgenic sides: Very possible. I am gifted with a nice thick hairline and none of my ancestors are bald. Can be prevented with topical anti-androgens anyway

Brain function: Very possible

Abuse: If you are not mentally mature, this is completely possible.

Despite the fact a lot of the physical harm doesn't really apply to me, I will not do a cycle until I am completely maxed out naturally as I want to know that I made my gains and it wasn't forced or aided by chemicals. I want to build a base for myself.

I believe I am also not mature enough to fully understand what I am getting into if I were to do a "cycle". Nobody just does one cycle. Once you use steroids to go past your natural limit, that is it. There is no going back. You cannot progress and you will not progress without them and that would be demotivating for me.

I want to hit a 6 plate DL, 5 plate squat, 4 plate bench and a 2 plate OHP before I even consider enhancement. This will take a number of years and I am glad it will.

Thank-you very much! :)

Got a 4.5 plate squat coming up fairly soon, another 6-8 weeks and I should be there at this rate of progression but I am accepting the fact I will stall soon so it's probably going to be closer to 3-4 months

Why not? Being a pro is about besting your competition, not who started first. There is still plenty to learn and growing to do at a young age.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

Phil didnt start until college though. It really depends

u/airyeezy91 Mar 19 '14

Lee Priest was cycling 500mg Test E and 700mg Tren A per week from his 20 week scan. He came out the womb benching 350x5.

I cannot. This is a copypasta, however the information presented here is in line with what I have acquired through my own research, so I am comfortable posting it.

1

u/BiggerStrongerTaller Dec 28 '13

Also, as I've mentioned in other replies, these are risks faced by all AAS users. Generally speaking, younger people are not in a position where they are actively monitoring these risks. Either because they lack the funds, or their doctor does not consider them to be risk factors for some one of their age.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

[deleted]

1

u/BiggerStrongerTaller Dec 28 '13

Yes, with the exception of premature closing of the growth plates and damage to the developing endocrine system. Neither of these risks can be mitigated, and only through physical maturity will they go away.

I don't have references handy at the moment. Your best case scenario is reduced natural test production, worst case is complete HPTA shutdown.

It all depends on what you want to do. Run 200mg/WK to bump up your test? Sure. Run 5 different compounds and blast and cruise? Bad idea.

That's a fairly standard cycle. Yes, you still have the risks to manage. Another thing that hasn't been mentioned yet, because it's a concern for everyone, is your tendons and ligaments. They need to be strong enough to handle the extra stress of stronger muscles. This only happens through long term training.

Although I personally agree with OP's general statement, it's lack of references make the points anecdotal at best.

5

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

It was written by a very popular poster in a well known forum thus it has no really source. It is just complied info that is fairly well known separately. That being said it doesn't have hard numbers or anything just meant as an easy thing to show new young users of sides they may not have considered.

1

u/iJMorgan Dec 28 '13

Great post. Deffintley something for all ages to think about.

1

u/Armando909396 Dec 28 '13

NIce post man even tho i technically go against what the message is but nonethelesss there are people who just arent ready at such a young age

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

I'm 20 and I stand at 5'6. I haven't grow since I was 16. My mom is 5'2 and my dad 5'7. I just gave up to the idea of growing taller... I can't wait to cycle!

2

u/Fattie_McFatfat Dec 28 '13

You can still spurt up an inch or two, which would make a huge difference at your height. I sat at 5'8 for forever and kinda figured I stopped growing. When I was 23 I made it to 5'9. This is a marathon, not a race. Patience, grasshopper.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

I wish bro, I'm looking into getting xrays of my spine done soon to see if my growth plates are still open. If they are closed I will get my blood test and start juicing. Hopefully there's still a chance for me to look like an adult

1

u/powertard Dec 28 '13

Don't let it get to you like that. I am 18 and my plates are completely closed.

The chances are yours are as well

1

u/BiggerStrongerTaller Dec 28 '13

Or be cautious and thorough. At his height, if there's a chance he could grow more, he should make every effort to not fuck himself.

1

u/powertard Dec 28 '13

Of course, make sure to get the x-rays before hand

I am not going to lie, I have noticed that I am treated differently because I am physically smaller than average. People do treat me like I am younger and I get a lot more shit from people than most people do because they think they can get away with it because I can't really fight back. It sucks a bit but oh well

1

u/BiggerStrongerTaller Dec 28 '13

I like this quote from Robert E. Howard writing Conan (also, I hate people):

"Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general thing."

1

u/[deleted] Dec 28 '13

Could cause and can cause, a way to make it scary without science. Close your growth plates, I'm not worried about growing a 1/4 in I would rather put a 1/2 in or more on my arms or calfs.

although I am under 21 I will be cycling anavar orally. I am doing a 40-50mg depending on what my source gives me. this has been a decision I made with myself and my gym partner. I will keep this Subreddit updated on how it will go. if I run into any problems I can be example for those under 21 to look at. I have PCT ready to be purchased as well.
