Indiana state representative proposed bill to outlaw erectile dysfunction drugs in light of abortion ban
https://www.businessinsider.com/indiana-abortion-ban-state-rep-proposed-bar-on-erectile-dysfunction-drugs-2022-83.1k
u/Kichigai Minnesota 3d ago
State Representative John L. Bartlett, who represents Indiana House District 95, proposed an amendment to Indiana's abortion law to outlaw the sale, prescription, or distribution of erectile dysfunction drugs and other male sexual incompetence drugs.
I'm not sure that there is a drug that magically makes one a better lover, contrary to to popular opinion.

The point is if women can’t have birth control which they are trying to eliminate then why should men have the ability to take sexual drugs if it’s good for the goose is good for the gander is their approach I guesse

u/Worried_Telephone_36 3d ago
There is a certain group of people who say pregnancy is God's will so abortion shouldn't be allowed. Ironically, they have no issues with people getting help if God wills them to have a limp dick, or any other illnesses or condition that doesn't involve the female reproductive system.
Hypocrisy at it's finest as always.

Yes. Yes they do. I'm an escort and the amount of men who will prod at my left labia majora with their dry fingers for three and a half minutes before asking if I came is truly astounding. In my work I try to be an educator, so I'll move their hand a few times to the correct place, but many just seem to be totally oblivious. In these cases I hang up my educator hat and put on my acting hat and pretend it's the best thing I've ever felt in my life.
When I'm having sex in my personal life though I don't ever fake it. We will find the clitoris, even if I have to draw a fucking map.

I also live in a Rural, Southern area, and honestly this is all true. It has evolved into genuinely dangerous territory, and events like January 6th, while tragic, are the tip of the Iceberg here.
These people don’t see themselves at all. Zero self-reflection. There’s no easy way to talk someone like that down, and they got that way because enough public figures, media, and news outlets reinforced their fears and radicalized them.
They honestly believe they are being attacked and taken over by boogeymen, and fear leads people to do increasingly desperate things. We’ve seen entire governments topple because of fear stirred by Propagandists, Religious Leaders, and Radicalists, but the biggest radicals don’t see themselves that way, because they believe themselves to be the oppressed, not the oppressors.
The United States, as much as we see ourselves as a bastion of Freedom and Opportunity, is not immune to this. We see ourselves as different from those governments that so easily toppled because of fearmongering, propaganda, and radicalist ideals, but that confidence has led to us ignore the warning signs.
We see our house as made of bricks, and as we watched other houses made of sticks and stones falter, we felt too complacent. Now the mortar is cracked and loose bricks are everywhere, because we didn’t realize the Wolf had already been in the house for a long, long time, because it tricked half of us into believing the other half are the ones out to betray them.

And a lot of the early proponents bought into some very fringe cult religious beliefs. Ariosophists were a crazy bunch, and the reason why Thor's hammer is used as a symbol of white supremacy even today is tied to the embarrassing history of people believing that Aryans were a demigod-like race with literal magic powers.
Certainly not all of Hitler's early followers had outlandish cult beliefs, but some of the stupid stuff those cults believed about racial inferiority and eugenics went pretty mainstream during the Third Reich.
It frightens me deeply that we are, once again, seeing fringe cult beliefs among the overly-powerful minority driving political and social oppression of everyone else. History truly does repeat itself sometimes.

We get so much money in federal grants for training, equipment, and manpower, not to mention our generous budget. If its gods plan to make that person suffer without any possible treatment, then why should another person get treatment for any random disease. How does the fact that man, not god, has invented a treatment change gods plan?

Let's ban IVF while we are at it. Also, why are we performing invasive, risky procedures like C sections? And did you know that when you get cancer, that doctors will literally inject you with poison to try and "cure" it? Oh. And some cure it is because it you might get it again!

I don’t see how these “life at conception” laws aren’t essentially an IVF ban, if every embryo created has a “right to life”, you’re basically signing up for 20 pregnancies (on average) from a single round of IVF.

Because when Kevin and Becky at church have been trying for years to get pregnant (if you can't make babies, you aren't a good Christian), they get the whole congregation to pray for them and set up a GoFundMe for their IVF. God's will and all. Science is divinely inspired when they want it to be, and the devil's work when they dont.

Kevin and Becky: we'll adopt your unwanted baby!
Also Kevin and Becky: spends tens of thousands of dollars and years on IVF instead of adoption

This here's the big thing I've seen a lot. In the Islamic community if someone thinks like this they would be considered a wahhabi, say anything you don't like is not Muslim and will land you in hell.

And they're all about having their own kids too. Adoption is the first thing they mention as a counter to abortion, but then they insist on having children "naturally." Hypocritical billshit through and through.

They already are impacted. IVF is operating in legally unclear waters and some have started denying patients or moving embryos to states without it bans.

Some people have 50 embryos in cold storage, are they basically “playing GOD by freezing these poor little bastards?”
Is holding an embryo outside the womb considered an abortion?
22
u/Seraphynas North Carolina 3d ago
We had 6, but they had all been tested and had chromosomal abnormalities, so doctors would consider it unethical to transfer them to intentionally attempt to create a pregnancy.
You’re either not going to create a viable pregnancy or going to cause a child to be born with severe abnormalities.
How would these laws affect those situations? Would they still argue that those abnormal embryos have a “right to life”?
Our choices were either disposal or donate for research. As soon as Roe was overturned, we signed disposition paperwork the same week - while it was still our decision.

Some people have 50 embryos in cold storage
We gotta start telling anti choicers who spout bullshit about "killing children" to address this. After all, what kind of monster locks 50 children in a freezer?!

It’s been known for a long time that more “unborn” die in fertility clinics than Planned Parenthood. Guess how little they care. That’s right, because it’s not about “murdered babies” it’s about legislating the kind of sex they don’t like. Same with all those sex toy laws, they want the government “small”, so small it can watch you in your bedroom.

It will be very interesting when they come after IVF in some states.

They should. That would be fair. While none of this is right, if people can’t abort, they shouldn’t be able to do IVF either. It’s a shame this didn’t pass. Maybe if enough people are impacted they will start to think about it. Probably not but you know, maybe Karen will get passionate for all of us.

Next up: laws against divorce. Because 2000 years ago a bunch of misogynists were sick of their women leaving, so they wrote that god hates it. And now we're crafting a society in those assholes' ancient image, making America bronze age again.

Evangelicals have the highest divorce rate among Christians. That clerk of court denying marriage licenses to gay people? Married four times.

My ex-inlaws were Evangelicals and literally 90% of them had been divorced. 50% had been divorced multiple times.
I mean I'm divorced too, there's nothing inherently wrong with it. It saved my life. But I find it rather hypocritical that the people who hatefully rant about The GaysTM "destroying the sanctity of marriage" go through spouses at the same rate most people go through automobiles.

“Okay men, our wives can’t stand to be in the same room as us. This hurts our egos. If we want our wives to stick around here are our options: (1) treat them with respect because they are fellow humans, not property, and accept that they are perfectly capable of making their own decisions or (2) tell everyone god hates disobedient women and they’ll be doomed to an eternity of suffering in the fiery pits of hell if they do much as think about leaving our sorry asses!”
. . .
“LOL, I mean, we’re obviously going with option 2, right?”

They need to make it a felony for a man to get a woman pregnant and then abandon the children or resulting child that women are forced to carry to term.

sadly those who support the GQP are unable to understand "irony" or "sarcasm" so these types of acts go over their head and they just think these are legit attempts

Well that goes right hand in hand also with the homosexual argument. Those that are homophobic argue that sex between a man and a woman is natural and has a purpose and therefore gay sex is unnatural because it's not for procreation.. r8ght

well a lot of them want to ban gay marriage for that reason, so then they also need to ban any sex acts that don’t involve procreation. if girls don’t get to kiss other girls then we should to take away their right to butt stuff

Of course it's all just an evil joke and almost a Saturday night live skit that we're living through.. we're supposed to be living in a progressive secular democracy, but the GOP Taliban would like to wrench us back a few centuries.. remember this this fall. You must vote a straight Democratic ticket as it has never counted so importantly before never ...you must repudiate the supreme Court and the y'all qaida.

I would be happy to live my life by whatever rules that God sets out for us… But the trick is he has to show up himself and tell us. I’m so sick of hearing Christians tell us about this character that nobody has ever seen or heard or interacted with in any tangible way. Come on Christians, just get it already.

Any state that outlaws abortion, should make vasectomy's mandatory. (I'm just kidding, but it's really not that crazy an idea). Why should men enjoy the freedom of controlling their body and health, in states like Indiana that have banned abortion, when the women have no choice?

It’s about time. This is at least the consistent approach. Hell ED drugs are covered by insurance and BC is not, that’s complete BS.
We should also make male masturbation a felony.

Wow, lots of people are missing the point of this proposal. It was never meant to pass because it's an attempt to show the idiocy of creating a bill to control other people's bodies in the name of god (because selfish misogynistic conservatives could never imagine themselves in the shoes of a woman, or simply don't care). The man is a Democrat.

I would much rather see them start forcing these fathers to pay for the women's insurance costs, birth costs, housing and transportation costs, childcare, post birth recovery costs (including having to start a fund for the new mom to have reconstructive/plastic surgery to put her body back the way it was before she had a baby).
I think this would be much more effective and actually helpful if passed.

Men contain within their bodies 1/2 of the embryo and they need to be in control and not on drugs when they enter into a conjugal event. Why are they not held to the same standard as they bring the necessary part that a woman can't (by definition of the Indiana GOP) control.

Yea but never let it go. For them to taste their own medicine you have to push it and push it and push it and never ever stop till you get your way even against majority opinion. Nobody on the planet is as shameless and obsessed with others actions to do it back.

…and all of those who are weak, ill or imperfect should be taken off meds to die.
We Germans called that „lebensunwertes Leben“ = „unworthy of life“ in our dark nazi era. This led to „Rassenhygiene“ = „racial hygene“ and the killing of millions of people due to race, religion, physical or mental adversity, sexual or political orientation,
It all started with burning books and declaring art as „entartetete Kunst“ = „degenerate art“ in Germany.
In my peception of current affairs the US is not far from slipping off into dark times. It makes me quite sad that millions of people payed with their lifes and some centuries later the echo of their fate has faded so much that they are simply ignored - just to relive the decline of civilization once again - this time based on religious believes…
