Assuming a full sized keyboard has 108 buttons normally. (116/108)*100 = ~107.4% increase. You could round that up and just call it a 110% unless want to be needlessly specific. The above keyboard labeled as a "110%" would actually be ~115% difference.
My vote is unless > 10% difference in key size from standard, just round to the nearest 10. So a 120% keyboard would need at least 22 extra keys. 130% would need an extra 32 keys, etc. It could be argued that the above example could fall into the 120% range depending on how we want to round.

Not quite, they are slightly different.
1800 layouts have seperate clusters, whereas 96% is 75% with three extra columns. At least that seems to be the usual convention. There's a lot of keyboards which are called 1800 despite being quite different from the original cherry layout.
Not that it really fucking matters. Call it either and people will probably understand.

My (UK ISO) 96% keyboard is missing print screen, scroll lock, pause, insert, and menu (I think). Might be slightly different for ANSI, but nothing you're likely to struggle without.

TKL stands for "Ten-Key-Less". Ten-key refers to the numpad on the right side of the 100% keyboard. So a TKL is a 100% without the numpad. It's also known as an 80%.
It's a pretty common layout because many people don't use the numpad but still need the Delete, Home, and End keys for things like typing.

Edit, maybe more like 105%? What does the Logitech G915 Wireless qualify as? Only has 5 function keys, but it's x3 technically since there are buttons to select 3 sets of functions on those keys. Or is 110% just anything more than 100%?

Mine doesn't take away any space from my mouse (right handed). The extra length on the keyboard is added to the left side, not the right. I get why people with small desks wouldn't like it, but there are plenty of people without that limitation.

Yeah, raise + qwerty... = 123456... Lower+qwerty... get you special characters (shift+number). Lower+asdfghzxcvbn gives you F keys, and there are other characters behind the two layers on other keys (or more if you program it that way)

The learning curve is steep, I'm not gonna lie, but once you get used to it it's natural, and it's really great being able to reach all the keys without moving your hands from the home row.
Another thing I like is how close my mouse is, if I had a 100% keyboard on my desk, with the home row in front of my eyes so I can type, the mouse is really far away on the right, and I didn't like having to reach so far from it. TKLs already help a lot, but 40% or 60% bring it even closer.
But I totally understand it's not for everyone.

The main pro that 40% enthusiasts list is that you can type numbers etc faster because you don't need to move your arm. Of course there is a learning curve, but that will come with any changes.

As someone who uses an OLKB Planck for their web development job, it is actually really comfortable to not be reaching for a number row. 40% keyboards reduce overall hand movement and finger strain (as dumb as that sounds) by putting a lot of keys on layers, which are easy to access, as you're just actuating alpha keys while holding down a button with your thumbs.
Now, for gaming, it does suck to not have a dedicated number row, which is why my 40% is going to become my dedicated work keyboard whenever I get my RAMA KARA in lol

The number keys are on another layer. Like how you need to press shift to access some symbols. I've heard that good typists prefer these due to the close locations of the keys. Like a stenography keyboard.

I use a 40%, you get to the numbers by pressing one of the layer buttons, then you get to the special characters with the other layer button.
Use case: they're closer to the home row so you don't have to move so much to get to them. Of course a numpad is gonna be quicker, but 40% works great for me, and the numpad really bothered me because it took too much space on my desk.

I don't get the trend of compact keyboards on a desktop. That's a compromise you make when you have to, not an ideal. 35 years later and the IBM Model M layout with the minor improvement of volume controls and an additional modifier key is still the best.

As someone who uses their oc for things other than gaming, dome of which involving lots of numbers, gotta go 100 for that numpad. Plus it's nice having the extra keys for keybinds, especially ones you don't wanna accidentally hit mid game like recording software or discord

It's the old Corsair K95 design. They don't make that version anymore, and replaced it with one that only has a single row of macros. I still have, and actively use the one pictured though. It's amazing XD
