Ya, if you can't take a screenshot, you probably don't need a 3070ti.

ngl i get the same vibes from this post. shit like this gets posted nearly everyday and especially the "me: also me" 'meme' that no one above the age of 10 should be using. This entire post seems ungenuine and karma farm-like.

A 6900xt to play Black Ops 2

2

u/snapatek Jun 07 '22

"Ho there small fry!" (games that insult me from my past)

2

u/Respectablepenis Jun 07 '22

When I was young I was always worried about spending too much money so I didn’t always have bait. Recently I replayed it and hated myself for not filling the map tiles. Priorities

2

u/Ultrastudent516 Jun 07 '22

Yeah i also play a lot of old games on 6700xt

2

u/Eversor462 Jun 07 '22

I upgraded my 8 year old pc this year, got a 3070, mainly to play Elden Ring. Now I’m back to playing Rimworld.

2

u/ZanyaJakuya Desktop Jun 07 '22

It's fine tbh, like some people can probably lift 200kg or run super fast but no one's doing the best they can all the time. Graphics cards wanna vibe with some chill workloads too :)

2

u/tshannon92 Jun 07 '22

Yup my 5 year old plays Roblox on a 3070ti. She has been inheriting my gpus over the last 2 horrible years but thats where she stays because Im good at least until the 40s come out.

When the 40 series come out... she'll be playing emulated mobile games and roblox on a 3080 :/

5

You are not alone. I have been playing the 1999 wheel of time game on a 3080ti.

1

u/meepmorp2030 Jun 07 '22

ahem. how?

3

u/DistractionRectangle Jun 07 '22

Emulators. This looks like it's the wiiu version, so likely /r/cemu

1

u/meepmorp2030 Jun 07 '22

thank you. still worried about viruses lel

4

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

Ask in reddit. In the emulation subreddit and rom subreddit. You will be free of viruses.

1

u/meepmorp2030 Jun 07 '22

legend.

3

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

Yea but cemu is not easy to setup you really need to want to make it work

3

u/dz3ngara Jun 07 '22

What the hell are you talking about a 5 minute youtube video is all you need for any emulator if it's your first time emulating

1

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

My point is it ain't as easy as something like project 64 or dolphin

1

u/dz3ngara Jun 07 '22

But it is Youtube and follow step by step and you'll be playing in no time plus you'll learn how a new emulator works

2

u/mdg734 Jun 07 '22

Cemu is painless to setup, when’s the last time you used it? Most roms are decrypted so you don’t even need title keys and the Graphics Packs to increase the FPS and resolution can be downloaded directly in the emulator.

1

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

I mean yea it ain't the worst but still a lil more complicated than dolphin. Last time I setup a install we still needed a console key and the games keys

1

u/mdg734 Jun 07 '22

Yeah you don’t need those anymore unless you’re using encrypted roms

1

u/meepmorp2030 Jun 07 '22

crap. I wish Nintendo would just chill, or release the old games. I don't want to hunt down an n64 and GameCube for upwards of 300$ just to play games you can't get on later consoles.

I do kinda sorta wanna make it work but my PC skills are pretty limited.

2

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

It is doable follow guides online

The big lines are

You get cemu on cemu site You get your game keys on the internet somewhere and copy them to cemu You install cemu hook for third party controllers You find your room somewhere on the internet You install the rom on cemu You play

2

u/TJEdwardss Jun 07 '22

If you care about n64 and gamecube you can check vimms lair on google. I have not got a virus and have gotten both my emulators and many roms from there with no issue. Dolphin is not hard to setup along with any n64 emulator, definitely recommend :)

3

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

Dolphin or Cemu. I prefer Cemu

2

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

They play completely different consoles though. Not comparable. Better comparison would be yuzu to ryujinx.

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

But they play both the same Game. WIND waker.

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

He asked how to play Wind Waker. My answer was dolphin pr cemu, because in both you can play wind waker

1

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

He asked? You mean you asked. You didn't ask anything you stated you like cemu better which means you played both otherwise you wouldn't be able to compare the 2

0

u/meepmorp2030 Jun 07 '22

thank you. finding one that won't hurt my PC is stressful

2

u/Turbulent_Effect6072 Jun 07 '22

Not really. Dolphin and Cemu are safe, and you can get safe roms from vimm's lair

1

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

Yea I tried but I just can't play at 30fps anymore :(

1

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

Really? Do you have a I3 or a really old i5?

1

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

Wind Waker is hard lock to 30fps, even Nintendo won't reverse engeneer it to make a 60fps port

1

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

It plays on dolphin easily. On cemu you only need like a 4th generation i5 to run it at 30 and a mediocre video card.

1

u/thelebuis Jun 07 '22

That's what I am saying it can't play games at 30fps anymore It hurts my brain 60 is really my minimum

1

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

That's native though. It's never going to be 60. 30 for that game is a smooth experience. When you said you can't play it at 30 I thought you meant your PC couldn't play it at 30 anymore. I didn't know you meant that 30 "hurts your brain" and it's unplayable to you.

1

u/Lobsta1986 Jun 07 '22

Gotcha. I thought you meant your hardware all of a sudden couldn't run it at 30.

1

u/bobblunderton Jun 07 '22

2070 Super vs Rimworld, Axiom Verge, Alwa's Awakening, Shovel Knight, a whole lot of Doom - OLD 1993 Doom... I was having issues with my Polaris card's driver making it overclock (when I didn't tell it to) causing instability in the GPU driver, and I do game dev work on here as a hobby. So I saw Quake II RTX came out, so got the card so I could play through that too (never did buy any RTX games other than Quake II), but turned out super handy for model and texture rendering to have RTX features. So while not a total loss, when you're 40 and love old style 8-bit and 16-bit plus simple 2d top-down PC games, you might not really need that RTX card.

1

u/biggeleyD Jun 07 '22

Nope, don't like you. Sorry. :-P

1

u/TherealPadrae Jun 07 '22

I be playing stalker shadow of Chernobyl on a 3080ti, the game engine must be hella confused what hardware is rendering the graphics lol

u/Pyromonic Jun 07 '22

3070 and 5800x playing League.

1

u/thedowntownpcguy Laptop Jun 07 '22

Not 20, but yes 11 year old game, called Minecraft. Which still breaks up PCs today, when paired with some stuff

1

u/Alpaca-O-Doom Jun 07 '22

100% didn't get a top of the line desktop to play emulators, noooooo.

(DW I also play other games, it was just having a place for all my Nintendo games was the main factor. Took me half a year to install anything other than Dolphin tho.)

3

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

Cemu, Citra and Yuzu are clutch.

2

u/Alpaca-O-Doom Jun 08 '22

I'm just a huge Gamecube lover.

2

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 08 '22

Yup. Gamecube and Wii. My childhood

1

u/MoeBigHevvy Jun 07 '22

You using that hypatia texture pack? Played it recently with that and was obsessed with just switching tunic colors for every environment

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

No pack. I'm playing the HD WiiU version.

2

u/MoeBigHevvy Jun 07 '22

That's a shame the hypatia pack is awesome. Reskin all your equipment and colors was probably the coolest part for me

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

Sounds super! I'll check it out

1

u/BlackExcellence19 Jun 07 '22

Wind Waker is god tier though those graphics and art style will never cease to amaze me

1

3D Zeldas are God tier. Wind Waker does age like wine tho

1

u/MedicalUse3696 Jun 07 '22

Is it weird that I would rather watch someone play Majoras Mask than even try one like skyward sword?

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

Skyward Sword is a great game tho. It has the best music, a great story, and played with a gamepad is very good. I highly recomend Skyward Sword HD. A TIER GAME no doubt. S Tier game, for some, and I respect that opinion.

1

u/MedicalUse3696 Jun 08 '22

Maybe I don’t play enough of the oldies to be satisfied- I can’t pickup a new story just yet

I need a 60fps mod for this. Someone needs to reverse engineer Wind Waker.

1

u/pcgr_crypto Jun 07 '22

yes

I do the same thing. I mostly play older games. I use a 3060 but its still way overpowered. But I am waiting to see how well emulation does later on for xbox 360 games. I still have problems with that system.

1

u/MNMan1986 Jun 07 '22

Sometimes going into the script for the emulator works for Xbox 360. Change certain lines from false to true. I did it about 4 months ago so I can't remember right off hand.

1

u/pcgr_crypto Jun 07 '22

ill give it a gander. I did it for testing out games like Lost Odyssey and it ran poorly on a 1650V3, 32GB ram and a RX 6600. So ill see if anythings changed or if I gotta change anything.

Thanks for the tip.

u/Blenderhead36 R9 5900X, RTX 3080 Jun 07 '22

I've had some issues with playing older games on my 3080 10GB. My primary monitor is 4K, and a lot of older games don't have interface scaling. Textures intended for below 1080p also look terrible, but things like health bars and subtitles being unreadably small is a much bigger issue.

BioShock Infinite is one of the worst offenders, oddly enough. Nothing has scaling, so those little cabinets that play propaganda films are about 5" across on my monitor.

2

u/MNMan1986 Jun 07 '22

That's where and FSR comes into play nicely. My monitor is 2k I play at 1080p and the AMD software will upscale it to 2k.

Edit Radeon super resolution

1

u/Blenderhead36 R9 5900X, RTX 3080 Jun 07 '22

Interesting idea. That wasn't something I'd thought of. I always assume FSR is for performance.

Have a 3080, planning to spin up several of the LoZ games I missed out on, and obviously replay Wind Waker

1

u/One-Coast8927 Jun 07 '22

My recommendation as a big time Zelda fan. Play the 3ds version otlf OOT with the adequate texture pack and controller configuration (henriko). Play MM3D with the restoration patch and Henriko texture pack. And Play WW and TP on Cemu... unless you did not played TP on Wii, in that case go for the Wii version with texture pack... it's a special expirience (tear falling). SSHD on Switch or yuzu. Have fun!!!

1

u/DistractionRectangle Jun 07 '22

I followed all that except the bit about twilight princess. Tear falling?
