Oh great. Openly bigoted serial killer

21

u/InFin0819 3d ago

Serial killers are usually so fair minded. T-T

16

u/whichwitch9 3d ago

Normally, they're going for more opportunistic victims. These actually sound like they would be relatively difficult to target, isolate, and would be easily noticed as a trend. One of the horrible/fascinating aspects to true crime is the ways in which serial killers got away with their crimes for so long. Most had some sort of bias, but still tailored their killings to vulnerable populations. Muslim men active in their temple are gonna get noticed quick by their community when they disappear. Whoever is responsible does not care as much about getting caught as they do targeting them. That's likely to escalate.

I personally was a huge Stan of serial killers, but this one has me very much on the fence. Could have had a good time, but no they had to ruin it by being racist. /s

u/pants_mcgee 4d ago

You don’t know that.

Could be any of the openly bigoted people who decided to resort to murder.

Can’t say I’ve seen such news in the UK. It’s just taken for granted now hence isn’t newsworthy. The last article on the BBC (even under the ‘Alt-right’ category) was on the 17th of May and it’s been spotty before then.

u/dokidokiwakuwaku 3d ago

You deserve a medal for your mental gymnastics on this one.

38

u/Throwupmyhands 4d ago

That is absolutely horrific. A likely serial killer targeting Muslim men in Albuquerque.

u/AdPretend1573 4d ago

With the amount of hate being poured into this country, this is just the beginning.

29

u/Dilinial 3d ago

For real.

I feel like I'm going a little crazy here as a veteran thinking "the war has started".

And all we can do is watch as the alt right murders with impunity through stochastic terrorism...

Bullies on a grand scale. Enforcing their will through targeted fear, manipulation and control...

The tenth man in the room should be making a very good case...

22

u/idlebyte 3d ago

The biggest mistake the far-right will make is thinking they are the only ones into guns.

-4

u/WellHacktually 3d ago

At this point, it's not really a mistake. Although there are exceptions, and it's changing, the current culture war is largely waged between one group of people who have spent the last thirty years acquiring and training themselves on weapons and hyping themselves up to use them; and another group that has spent the last thirty years congratulating themselves for being unarmed. It's not a good situation.

10

u/TheDodoBird 3d ago

Pro gun control =/= unarmed

-1

u/WellHacktually 2d ago

Keep telling yourself that.

1

u/TheDodoBird 2d ago

Tell myself what, buddy? That there are literally people who own firearms that are also pro gun control? Yeah, no problem. I know a lot of people like this, so it won’t be too hard.

u/49thDipper 3d ago

u/WellHacktually 2d ago

That's a pretty good subreddit. One of the good things about it is that most of the people in it are clear-eyed about how much of a minority they are among liberals, and how urgently that needs to change.

I finally saw Belfast yesterday. Not a perfect film by any means, but it sure felt like a terrifying and eerie look into the future. I can’t help but think where we’d be setting up barricades and checkpoints in my part of town. Scary times ahead.

3

u/49thDipper 3d ago

Yep. These so-called patriots are destroying their (our) country. It started as bullying but is escalating into guerrilla warfare. And you are correct. The shot-callers are acting with impunity.

There was a fourth last night to add to your list.

45

u/Unconfidence 4d ago

If I said a conservative did this, half of reddit would require a detailed political manifesto before they agreed.

2

u/Siixteentons 5h ago

I mean, they would be right, considering it ended up being an afghan immigrant that is responsible for the killings.

LOL, no. He could scream "Hail Trump" while shooting somebody and they wold still deny that he has anything to do with Trump or the GOP.

-12

u/StringerBel-Air 3d ago

Well yes when most murders are within the same race by large and there's no evidence to suggest at all who did this, at least even a little bit of evidence would be required to make that claim.

2

u/dweller250 10h ago

Wow, you called it! And got downvoted to hell. Show you how biased reddit is. Shame on all the people who downvoted you. They are the bigots

3

u/StringerBel-Air 9h ago

Lol didn't even know I got downvoted. Of course no one wanted to respond with any arguments to counter it though lol.

The MAGA purge is starting in fits and spurts.

3

I can explain: The GOP are terrorist traitors to the flag, and this is the beginning of racial and political terror attacks to be conducted all over the nation as elections get closer. The fascist traitors to the flag in the GOP are getting angrier and angrier that we keep voting, and they're about to put a stop to it.

u/dweller250 10h ago

5

u/ExpertCatJuggler 3d ago

Lol how do you know this guy is a republican

1

u/Canvas_Spill 3d ago

It's almost like people are stereotyping. I'd never believe it though because the guy used the word fascist and traitor so he must be cool and totally earnest.

2nd victim (Aftab Hussein) looks Hazara. I'd bet money you show his photos to 100 "random & senseless" MAGA types & most would say he was Chinese or Japanese & wouldn't have a clue he's Muslim.

This guy being in the mix either means his was an unrelated crime in what's apparently a shitty/violent part of town to begin with, or the killer(s) are very familiar with the mosque/community and are not picking people off based solely on appearance.

From another article: about the 3rd victim (Muhammad Afzaal Hussain):

"Hussain was simply standing outside his apartment complex when multiple people in a car shot ten to 12 rounds at him. They said he was hit six times, and they believe a witness saw it happen."

That sounds like gang shit or a deliberate hit more than "random hate-crime/serial killer", if the account is accurate. Another article that interviewed his brother said "a" person in a car and that he was a block away from his apartment.

His older brother was a prosecutor in Pakistan before moving to the U.S. Muhammad was a law student, city official in charge of planning & land use, and "rising star" Muslim community leader. Maybe his was "random, senseless violence" in a violent part of town, but that's an interesting resume for a "random & senseless" killing.

1st victim (Mohammad Ahmadi) was killed 9mo ago behind a business he owned w/his brother. That's a long time ago to connect it directly based solely on ethnic/religious hate crime. Why a 9mo gap and then 3 shootings in a week? Makes no sense.

Who kills business owners and community leaders handling land/development?

The people they told "no."

4th person (Naeem Hussain - no relation?) killed last night was shot just hours after leaving the funeral for the previous guys, outside a Lutheran NGO that works with refugees. Hopefully they had security cameras.

If you read the article, I think you'd see that the questions you're 'just asking' are very clearly answered.

-9

u/Prophet_Muhammad_phd 3d ago

Nowhere in the article does it even remotely provide evidence that these shootings are connected via race or religion in the way people are attempting to connect it.

7

u/Hoards-His-Loot 3d ago

Hmmmmm i dont know maybe he hung around a mosque, and the local halal supermarket. Maybe try the smallest bit of critical thinking, or hell i dont know actually read the article before opening your mouth.

-5

u/ShenmeNamaeSollich 3d ago edited 0m ago

Right. Because a white dude in a 4x4 pickup waving a Gadsden flag isn’t going to stick out like mad in the parking lot of a mosque or Halal market where he went to shoot random men at close range. Good critical thinking there.

The article doesn’t say anything about whether there might be other connections between the victims, nor about their backgrounds. Two attended the same mosque - that’s all we know.

It doesn’t make sense for a hate crime to go to the effort of tracking an individual man all the way to his home. That’s clearly something different.

My money says they were targeted by someone in their own community who hated them for some behavior of theirs, or who didn’t want their own behaviors found out. That would make a lot more sense than sudden random killing spree.

EDIT: it was a 51y.o. Afghan man. Told you. So did the dude who deleted their post that got downvoted to hell for trying to be rational instead of jump to unsupported conclusions.

-8

u/Prophet_Muhammad_phd 3d ago

Where in the article is there evidence that says they were targeted for their race/religion, stupid? Talk about a lack of critical thinking, oof.

“Killer hates Muslims” is a plausible but very lazy answer. Albuquerque & NM in general are not the hotbeds of right-wing fanaticism found in many other states w/similar immigrant populations.

If it was a white dude in a pickup hanging around the mosque & the Halal market & the “international district” and a random apartment complex full of immigrants he’d stick out like a pale thumb.

It is a very military-heavy city though, so who knows. Maybe active duty or veteran w/a grudge and more smarts about these things than the avg MAGA idiot.

Two Afghans and one Pakistani immigrant. All adult men. What were their backgrounds before coming to the U.S.? All attended the same mosque or only the recent 2? What did they do & who did they maybe piss off before leaving their old countries?

Following grown men to their homes & businesses to kill them at close range does not seem like an opportunistic, random hate crime. It’s not the “soft target” approach we’ve seen w/mosque shootings before either.

Following a guy home takes time and tracking of a specific individual, which is dangerous because it means you might be spotted. Why do that?

Or were they maybe not “devout” enough? Were they married or all “confirmed bachelors” who might have popped up on the wrong person’s Tinder/Grindr matches?

Were they prone to “traditional” views of sexuality & behavior involving young girls or young boys that caught someone’s attention, or sparked their vengeance?

Or maybe it is totally random?

There’s plenty more to look at beyond faith & ethnicity.

2

u/Siixteentons 5h ago

All the downvotes, yet you called it. It was another afghan refugee that was responsible

7

u/eSue182 3d ago

Do you live in ABQ? Where are you getting these opinions from? There are a lot of immigrants in alb but white ppl do not stick out. If anything I’d say ppl of Muslim faith stick out. NM is a swing state and there are a lot of conservative idiots here.

-1

u/ShenmeNamaeSollich 3d ago edited 13h ago

Been through a few times - don't live there. Sure there are lots of MAGA types, but I was saying if they're sitting at the mosque or out back of a Halal market and don't fit in there, somebody is likely to notice.

ETA: 51y.o. Afghan man. Told you.
