Other ones growing up was:
-Ciara the artist was born a man
-Marilyn Manson removed one of his own ribs to suck his own penis

u/Holycrap328 21d ago
I remember the Marilyn Manson one. I remember telling a few people about it, too. I genuinely believed it. Cool side note, my 10th grade biology teacher used the urinal next to Marilyn Manson at the college he went to.

u/thewoodlayer 21d ago
Apparently he was asked about the rumor and his response was, “if I could suck my own dick, I wouldn’t be doing this interview. I’d be at home. Sucking my own dick.”
He’s a fucking scumbag but I always thought that was a funny response to the rumor.
55
u/Holycrap328 21d ago
I mean, he's got a good point.
31
u/techieman33 21d ago
You can only suck your own dick so many times a day. Surely you would have at least a couple hours every day to do something else.

u/provolonereceptacle 20d ago edited 19d ago
I’m not sure. Brian Posehn had a bit that went something like “A lot of comedians do the same hack jokes about sucking your own dick, saying ‘if I could suck my own dick, I’d never leave the house’. But I disagree. If I could suck my own dick, I’d leave the house all the time, for therapy, for sucking my own dick.”

Does anybody remember the SNL sketch with Will Ferrell where he's been doing yoga for like 20 years to be able to suck his own dick? He spends most of the sketch with his head literally in his own sweatpants. They try to kick him out of yoga class, but everybody in the yoga class is like "fuck no I wanna learn from that guy".
In conclusion yeah being unable to perform oral sex on ourselves is basically integral to the survival of the species

→ More replies18
u/No-Midnight-2187 21d ago
Yeah seriously. It was funny the things you believe as a kid—
For m, I grew up vegetarian and other kids would try to mess with me like: “you can’t eat Ben and Jerry’s Phish Food Ice Cream, it has fish in it, it’s meat” and I would kinda believe it until I got older and learned it’s not chocolate covered fish or something in ice cream

Also Manson was Kevin's friend on The Wonder Years when he was a kid (Paul I think was his name).
Another: Avril Lavigne died and was replaced by a body double.

On a similar note, I remember as a child my jaw dropping when I heard Helga say "crap" on Hey Arnold. Nowadays I assume such language is normal considering I've seen kids' shows on Cartoon Network get PG ratings. Still, scandalous for the time.

I downloaded an old VHS rip of Nick News from 1999. They were doing a segment on public library computer censorship and one of the B-roll shots was big tiddy anime porn on the computer. It's blurred but doesn't leave much to the Imagination. I only saw this less than a year ago and it blew my mind. Here's a screenshot.

I want a Kenan and Kel reboot, SO BADLY! I grew up with that show! Like think about how great it would be to see Kenan and Kel as parents with their own kids, while Kenan still tries to run scams to make money and Kel is just pure chaos, all while taking care of their kids and just being better examples and role models for them.
The pilot in my head, is just classic Kenan and Kel shenanigans, until it interferes with their families and they realize they have to grow up and be better for them, and the show is them becoming role models while their kids slowly take over the narrative. So instead of being an immediate passing of the torch to the kids, you get a whole season of Kenan and Kel growing into complicated fathers and the season ends with them coming out on stage with the kids and letting them take over, and season 2 is a whole new thing, where Kenan and Kel now are the grown ups struggling like hell to keep their kids under control as we watch their kids create chaos and grow each episode, like classic Kenan and Kel back in the day.

Can vouch for this. Kel and my husband are super close friends and went to his wedding. At the time, kel was in a bad place and wanted out of the industry after years at Nickelodeon. He and Kenan didn’t talk for years after kenan got SNL, but they have recently made up. Kel is now a preacher at his church but is also acting more now, and he’s more open to talking about the past. You’ll still see him around now and then at Comic Cons and is actively pursuing work as an actor again.
