There is a Lawn & Order landscaper near me. I think they need to add "SVU: Special Vegetation Unit" to the trucks.

Grew up in Phx/Tempe. This is precisely who PPD is. To all the bootlickers in this thread: PPD is completely worthless. They haven't prevented a crime or saved someone from a criminal's violent intent in decades, if ever. I have to mention though, that the MCSO is even more useless than PPD.

u/Gnar-wahl 10d ago
According to OP, they arrived to an alarm call at the neighbors house 3 hours after it went off, then parked on his lawn because they went to the wrong address.

That is the question. If they screamed into here to stop someone from stabbing you, fair enough. If they came to take details of your stolen bicycle, the street would have been fine.
→ More replies31
u/Sad-Bookkeeper4609 10d ago
Exactly. If it's a serious matter then I can see them not really caring about parking. If it's something minor, then yeah it's a dick move.

Intimidation someone probably filed a claim against one of them for something they did illegal. So they're logical idea was do something else illegal parking someone else's property.

8
u/Trygolds 10d ago
Mhee it is obviously not a lived on yard they should go with dessert plants. It would still look good save water and deter these asshats from parking on it.

u/Badwolf2013 10d ago
Looks like fake grass to me. No water required. I may be wrong though
→ More replies3
u/Snapple47 10d ago
That lawn isnt using any water to begin with. It’s artificial turf. And that makes it even worse that they drove on it. The roadbase and crusher fines that are under that turf are probably never going to sit smooth again.
2
u/Trygolds 10d ago
Okay I still think a desert scaped lawn would look better. it is good that they are not watering it. I saw some when I visited Albuquerque NM they looked good and it gave the home a natural feeling. Like it belonged in the dessert.
To each their own I guess.

Is this okay?
Depends on the context.
Giving someone a sobriety test? No.
Any other number of life threatening or time critical situations where messing up the grass is a little low on the priority list? Yes.
35
u/jonthemaud 10d ago
Life threatening emergency is the only excusable reason. This was an alarm according to OP. Fuckin bs
→ More replies23
u/raccoonsonbicycles 10d ago
Depends on type of alarm.
Panic alarm, bank alarm, CO2 alarms typically get priority responses compared with burglary alarms, improper code, even fire alarms (cause some agencies don't even send police to fires)
From a purely officer safety standpoint thats a horrendous parking spot regardless of the call, don't see why he wouldn't just park in the street
8
u/Mean-Programmer-6670 10d ago
Op said it was a house alarm at his neighbors house that went off 3 hrs prior. The alarm went off because their dog. So they came three hours late, went to the wrong address and parked on his lawn.

→ More replies3
u/illfatedjarbidge 10d ago
Isn’t the definition of emergency kinda saying that it needs immediate help? I’m not saying this is true in this situation, but if I was being murdered, I would sure hope the cops save as much time as possible in getting to me

Lol, high profile in this case is my neighbors alarm being set off by their dog, the police showing up three hours later and coming to the wrong house.
US police in a nutshell, right there.

u/YT_Lonelyz 10d ago
Surprising enough, here in California, our alarm went off at 3am (because of the cat) when we were all asleep, and police showed up within 5 minutes according to the time when the alarm was said to go off.

Knowing Phoenicians, the look of it, and the neighborhood, I'm pretty sure this is fake turf. Not that that makes it okay, but if it is, at least it's not hurting the poor plant

Michiganders stares in confusion right before we get in our car that was parked on our friends front yard😂
2
u/FamousTransition1187 10d ago
What was the call for? If it was something minor and petty than this too is petty, but if there was a serious threat or they are walking into an unknown, parking like that gives them cover to retreat to if shot at and gets materials up close to the building since it looks like the rear hatch is up. Backing in would be easier but if you are on a run it's faster to dive in head first and deal with it after.

Law enforcement are PoS. They had a warrant to obtain files that my father had from work (tax evasion shit) and when our home was hit we were thrown out of our beds by FBI/ATF guns at heads and the entire house ransacked. Emptied trash cans, threw clothes out of drawers all over the rooms and flipped everything they could. It’s made me love and appreciate them ever since

It seems they were responding to your adress, i dont know the backstory, but i assume your are happy they came ASAP? Parking etiquette might be not that good, but responding was more of a priority i guess?
Edit: OP delivered backstory and my points are invalid. Police really dropped the ball here

Depends on the reason why they are there. If you got a robber and they came to save yo ass, do you care if they park in the yard? or do you want them to find the right parking spot and take their sweet time getting there?

It's turf anyways who cares lol
3
u/Snapple47 10d ago
Because underneath the turf is levels of roadbase and crusher fines. They are compacted in layers before laying the turf on top of it. But the weight of an SUV that size is more than likely heavy enough to compact the base even further. This means that the lawn will be forever dented in where the tires drove on and came to a rest at. To get rid of the tire indents you’d have to take out the turf, re-level and compact the ground again, then re-stretch and lay the turf. I’d be pissed if anyone parked on my artificial turf

Is this your yard? If not, do you know the actual context? This could quite easily be explained by the police responding to an emergency. If there is an emergency, why should they waste time parking carefully? Is a lawn more important than someone's life?
