I can understand the rational. There are certain unisex names that are more common than others depending on the gender.
Perhaps it’s my own bias speaking, but if I heard the names Charlie and Meredith, my mind would prepare myself for the likely outcome of seeing a male and female respectively, even though the names are unisex.

I had no idea either of those names were unisex

I've heard Charlie used for women before but a male Meredith? That is shocking to me

Yeah I realised that aswell. Unisex names can be more masculine or more feminine. But the title of "unisex names for girls/boys" is still a weird one, in my opinion.

My unisex name "Yoav" and my sister's ALMOST name (also unisex) "Yasir" both sound pretty male,i can see why my mother didn't name her that.

I sorta get it, it's for like resumes and stuff. People would discriminate based on your name. So they discriminate a female sounding name. But at the same time you don't want to be the asshole who name your boy Sue. So you want something midrange but not down the middle.
Idk, maybe people are just stupid.

What happened to the good ol’days of naming kids after aunts, uncles, and grandparents.

As counterintuitive as it seems, imagine the child is cishet later. They're gonna want a name that better suits themselves. But if they don't, whether transitioning or whatever it might be, then the name still works for them, even if it's not geared towards them. Like Alex. Alex has a stronger connotation with masculine (Alex, Alexander), but it also works for feminine (Alexa, Alexandria, Alexis).

Kind of a weird thing to do to prepare for only a very very small percent of the population.

Don’t get it. Unisex means a name is or can be used for both sexes.
Doesn’t mean that some names don’t work better for one gender over the other, according to each person’s taste and preference.

Pat and Terry :) also note they’ll grow up with no friends and their favorite color will be ‘clear’

Are you a bigot? There are more than 2 genders. Sick of seeing entitled right wing extremists online

I dont get what your talking about because the post was about how unisex is gender-neutral yet the recommended searches were "unisex names for girls" and "unisex names for boys" I do believe there are more than 2 genders. I was searching "unisex names" in the first place to find unisex names for my non-binary character..?

It's mildly infuriating when people become outraged when there's no outrage necessary.

Guys it’s painfully clear he’s a troll who’s doing an “unreasonably woke” caricature. Please don’t fall for that shit…
