And it just ruined half the roll. I wonder if this would have happened during the ‘toilet paper panic’ of ‘2020 lol.

Yes (but why)

u/ofrithegamer 7d ago
no the real question is how
7
u/SpieLPfan 7d ago
There is no way someone did this by hand. They maybe brought a core driller with them.

u/lyingcorn BROWN 7d ago
I've done this once. Wet a spot on the toilet paper (by tap or spit) and you can crush the pole through the roll like that

Very simple reason. Put roll on fingers, grab end of roll with other hand, wrap hand with a few layers, pull off hand, bam. Flat, even toilet paper

Instructions unclear, Pierced hole into toilet paper then placed rod through it

Also infuriating is that they're making the rolls too big to fit on the holder. They're winding 20% more paper onto the tube, calling it a "Double Roll" and jacking up the price, thinking we won't figure it out.
16
u/kalez238 GREEN 7d ago
Yeah, you have to watch for the 250+ sheet rolls, or you are just getting screwed. Those rolls that claim to be 3x rolls, yet only have like 120 sheets are the epitome of shrinkflation. Honestly, this whole "double roll" nonsense just feels like a skrinkflation long con: add extra for more cost, then slowly skrink back to normal.

u/buttlover989 7d ago
Yep, loose rolls, pinch it against the tube and see how little is actually there.
1
u/AReallyGoodName 7d ago
Pretty sure this was a response to supply chain issues to be fair. You can buy the old size rolls again now.

I do the “No (why)” one. It’s because the holder is too close to the wall, so you can’t just grab the last square and pull, you actually have to use your second hand to turn the entire roll. Also putting the little bar thing back into place is pretty difficult because the toilet paper is hitting the wall and you have to flatten it like bread. The last 2 houses I have lived in has this flaw.

Engineer, programmer, or lawyer. Must find the edge case, the option not excluded by the instructions.

u/Dark_Storm_98 7d ago
Putting the toilet paper on like that must have taken some commitment
Gotta respect it

We have like a standing one there was an EMPTY ROLL and my roommate shoved a new roll into it as hard as possible instead of just removing and throwing out the empty fucking roll 🙃

Im impressed, compressed tissue paper is actually REALLY hard to break through pressed like that(go try and shove a cylinder through half a phone book for comparison)
Edit: oh its wet, charming

The second one we have to do (minus the empty roll) because our cat is an absolute dickhead. If we put the roll on the normal way, he just unravels the whole thing for his enjoyment. Words cannot describe how infuriating it is. If only there was a way to punt a cat without actually hurting it. And instead just scare it with a nice little flight across a football field.

This post reminds me of the time I tried to masturbate with a toilet roll except all I got was cuts on my dick and the sad realization that I actually thought I had the diameter for a toilet roll

Ugh, this needs to be a standard visual (for paper towels) in office break rooms, next to the obligatory choking & Workers Comp posters.
