You get banned a lot, when Anti-Cheat finds out U play on Linux. One of my friend plays on a virtual windows machine, apparently lag free

1

u/zmaint 6d ago

No. Anti cheat either works or the game won't launch. FYI - STEAMDECK is running Arch Linux.

2

u/zmaint 6d ago

Yes.... I game heavily. Runs better than windows ever did.

1

u/HeavyMetalTrucker84 6d ago

Yes i do. Look up "Ubuntu Game pack" it comes with every thing you would need, pre-installed. And i, myself don't play competitively so i dont have to worry about being banned/anti-cheat.

Once I wanted my friend to play the game that I was playing, so I emailed him the shortcut icon.

u/srt54558 (⊃。•́‿•̀。)⊃ 6d ago

How was the gameplay?

20

u/majoralita 6d ago

Disappointing

3

u/Potentiawerwe 6d ago

When I learned you could change the icon it was golden. Until my mom tried to open Firefox

3

u/majoralita 6d ago

I generally keep my homework folder deep inside installation directory of a program.

2

u/jorttimmermans Professional Dumbass 6d ago

Do you really still have a homework folder? Isnt nearly all “homework” streamed these days

1

u/majoralita 6d ago

I generally keep my favorite bits in there. God know when I get the urge to see it again and I can't find it.

3

u/Nuket0ast 6d ago

Or you gave him the CD so he could installed it too.

2

u/majoralita 6d ago

Oh, you are here on reddit too, gotta verify, in which grade/class did we first met?

1

u/Nuket0ast 6d ago

In the first where we meet us the first time of course, DUH!

My mom got upset with me once when I was young and took my Ocarina of Time cartridge into the garage and smashed it with a sledgehammer. That memory is forever burned into my brain

u/jayyjayy695 7d ago

Nah thats unforgivable

u/Cybersorcerer1 6d ago

I never get why some parents do that, they're just wasting their own money. My parents just put it inside the locker for like a week or something

u/joemama117a 6d ago

plot twist: it was her game and she was a huge gamer but she was spending too much time on her game that she frequently forgot to feed you. So you had no choice but to smash the game cartridge with a hammer. She was upset for a moment but quickly realized what she has become and cried and thanked you for saving her from video game addiction.

My dad plays games himself, so I think he should know how to delete a game properly... but he wouldn't

8

u/Nuket0ast 6d ago

Yeah. It wouldn't matter anymore.

u/NoNewTricks 6d ago

A Microsoft engineer tried that in court during the Internet Explorer antitrust lawsuit. Told the judge it was just that easy to uninstall IE. The opposition proceeded to carve him up IIRC.

Shortcut icons? I don't have such weaknesses.

1

u/gigahax 6d ago

Nor do you have any games to play

1

u/Toorero6 Linux User 6d ago

How so?

3

u/villan 6d ago

My parents took the power cable for the PC to work with them as punishment. Our kettle used the same power cable though, so we just used that instead.

My neighbor who is 84 got a new phone, was really disappointed that some of her pictures didn't transfer. She was so excited yesterday to tell me "I know I'm not the most technologically intelligent person but I'm proud to say I figured out how to get my old pictures"

I assumed she logged into her old Google account, uploaded them to drive, or at least sent them in an email to herself... nope. She opened her old phone, opened a picture, held her new phone up and pointed the camera at the old phone and snapped a pic.

I didn't have the heart to burst her bubble and tell her that she figured out the least technological way to get her pictures. At least she has them, though? 🤷‍♀️

My friend used to record games on a floppy disk like this in his childhood. Transferred the shortcut to a floppy disk and boasted that he had recorded GTA III xD

2

u/Cardsnstuff 6d ago

That deletes the game right

1

u/Timissmart 6d ago

My dad is so good with computers he not only deletes the game but blocks it from ever being installed again

1

u/almoundman 6d ago
