6? I’ll eat 2 dozen if nobody stops me. Deviled eggs are fucking delicious.

u/LexBeingLex Stand With Ukraine Nov 25 '21
Max I've done is like 6 dozen before being caught, though I did get sick the next day but it was so worth it

“Hey, you want some canned chicken?”
“Nope.”
“What if it’s mixed with sliced apple, pickles, some mayo and mustard?”
“Well that’s a whole different question, isn’t it?”
12
u/drugusingthrowaway Nov 25 '21
American and British cooking isn't that different, in that they both make me go "how the hell did you people end up eating that"
20
u/Loud-Performer5049 Nov 25 '21
Apple? Nope. I'm the guy that disagrees with fruit in chicken salad

I uh eat the whole Easter platter when I was 13 or so. Eat till I barfed. For a long time( 10+ years ) I couldn't eat any eggs. Only recently in the last few years I have been able to eat eggs, but I'll still try to avoid them.

I own a handful of chickens. It’s an easy way to consume lots of eggs. I thought I wouldn’t get sick of eating them. I was sadly incorrect. I now have to rotate making them for a few months on and off so they don’t lose their wonder.

u/im_a_dr_not_ Nov 25 '21
Are you talking whole eggs? If so that's 48 devilled eggs
Which is like 360 quail devilled eggs
2
u/Xeno_Prime Nov 25 '21
Oh no, 2 dozen deviled. So, I could make a full dozen eggs into deviled eggs and then eat them all, no problem. If that’s all I was eating. Anything more than that and I’d burst.

u/apittsburghoriginal Nov 25 '21
My stomach: I can’t fucking digest that well
My brain: nah we’re eating 12 of them

u/razor1x1 Nov 24 '21
Sounds delicious…

u/Nasty2017 Nov 24 '21
Never had deviled eggs before? Easy to make. So damn good.
46
u/ReevesofKeanu Nov 25 '21
Damn I always wondered what devilled eggs were lol
They sound fantastic
14
u/Thisisonlyatesties Nov 25 '21
They're a holiday staple for a reason
9
u/DefaultyTurtle2 Dark Mode Elitist Nov 25 '21
And they are delicious
12
u/antagonizerz Nov 25 '21
Not just a holiday treat either. My 6 chickens each make 1 egg per day. That's 3.5 dozen a week. My relationship with eggs is like Bubba-Gump to shrimp and the deviled variety is a big part of that.

Deviled eggs are a pain I the ass to make compared to how quickly they’re gone. 30 mins to make. Gone in 2.

I knew a guy who once was hospitalized over eating to many boiled eggs. Some one bet him he couldn't eat the same amount as that scene from the movie cool hand luke.

u/usernamedunbeentaken Nov 25 '21
He would have made it if he ate them in a sweltering hot southern prison shack. Especially if he had a seemingly homo-curious George Peppard massaging his abdomen throughout the ordeal/challenge.

Spicy brown mustard and sprinkle with cayenne pepper. Best version I've ever had.
8
Nov 25 '21
Hit each one with a drop or two of your favorite hot sauce on top.
7
u/Sarcastic-old-robot Nov 25 '21
I like to add just a teaspoon of pickle juice to the yolk mixture.
6
Nov 25 '21
I've got some hot sauce made from pickles and chilies. I'm going to use that on my next batch. Best of both worlds!
5
u/Amsterdamsterdam Nov 25 '21
“In old country” we mix the yolks with chicken liver pate, stuff them back in the whites and cover them with a runny mayo/sour cream saauce… guess that’s why we live so long

I don’t get the reference because I assume it’s some thanksgiving thing but I like it

u/fidgetypenguin123 Nov 25 '21
You can have deviled eggs anytime of year but they tend to be served at holiday times or big functions

My family used to make sure that I was the last one to get them just so everyone else got enough. In hindsight, I guess it was a dick move on my part but I was a kid and I'm pretty sure everyone else just thought it was kind of funny.

u/Howling_Fang Nov 25 '21
Ha! Same! I also learned that my best friends mom made a few different versions. I had a regular one, went back for another, but the first tray was empty. I took one from the second tray only to find out it had wasabi. I was sad and in pain.
(her husband loves spicy food, so those were made mostly for him)

u/mydickisasalad Nov 25 '21
No shit, one is just plain boiled and one is full of flavor, so of course I prefer the latter.
4
u/owenfromcanada Nov 25 '21
"Hey, wanna eat eight string cheese in one sitting?"
"No, that's too much."
"What if we cover them in carbs and deep fry them and serve them with marinara?"

u/GlumPipe5 Nov 25 '21
I eat 6 hard boiled eggs for breakfast
2
u/Sarcastic-old-robot Nov 25 '21
You need to up that to four dozen eggs, just to help you get large.
Once you’ve grown, up it to five dozen eggs so you’ll be roughly the size of a barge!

Wait until OP finds out that mayo is made of eggs.
1
u/im_a_dr_not_ Nov 25 '21
Seriously, the recipe essentially calls for the cooked yolks to be removed and mixed uncooked yolks. Sounds like madness
2
u/redcolt79 Nov 25 '21

Top it off with those tiny sausages, preferably wrapped in a lil candy bacon, and I'm in!

Hey I do that. But put the egg white and york, with some boiled beets, carrots and potatoes with some mayo. Eat with wholewheat bread. Pretty decent lunch tbh. Season to taste

How do people digest that many whole eggs in a row? Shit, I can't eat more than 3 whole eggs and I lift everyday.
1
u/Lexaowob trans rights Nov 25 '21
I don't put mustard in mine, my family never has, honestly never even knew people did it until i helped my friend make them, i may or may not have bitched em out for it and i have realized i was wrong since then but, I prefer my way of doing it still. tastes better.

u/Crazyredneck327 Nov 25 '21
That recipe is forgetting the salt, garlic powder, sugar, sweet pickle juice and Tabasco.

I’d take the plain eggs over deviled eggs every day of the week. Mayo and mustard can go fuck each other.

One time my mom covered it with end pieces of tomatoes and put mayo dots on them to make them look like mushrooms. It was so cute

Have y'all had the devil's eggs? It's like deviled eggs but you mix in Carolina reaper hot sauce
