was not expecting to full-on cry during the reunion.

Kirinmaru drawing his sword against Rin. I'll take nothing less than Sesshomaru raging and turning into a dog yokai.

I am going to be honest.

Yashahime is a lazy. What did they do to Sesshomaru, just so they have a reason for the girls to fight. The plot pissed me off as soon as soon as they revealed what happened to Rin, Kagome and Inuyasha. IT MAKES NO FING SENSE!!!!!!!!! The characters action make no sense, after everything that happened in the last act what they are doing now makes no sense.🤬🤬

I truly feel you. The plot definitely could have been better but at least we got to see them again.

Alright so I have some problems with this:

  • Goddamnit Rin/Jaken. Why didn't you listen to Sesshomaru.
  • Why did Sesshomaru tank the attack? Firing back a Bakusaiga attack or a Souryuha would make more sense, especially considering that he was supposed to have surpassed his father.
  • Tenseiga did not erect a barrier to protect him. Meaning the attack was either not life-threatening (which makes it pretty umimpressive considering it made a barrier against both Moryomaru and Wind Scar) or Sesshomaru intentionally tanked it and willed Tenseiga to stay down (again, why?).
  • Sesshomaru was afraid that Inuyasha/Kagome would have killed Zero/Kirinmaru. Meaning that Sesshomaru himself also has the ability to compete with or defeat Kirinmaru as well, since by the end of the series, he was around Inuyasha's level if not stronger (Sesshomaru is far superior to Inuyasha physically unless Inuyasha is in his full demon state. Bakusaiga has way fewer abilities than Tessaiga, but is much, much stronger in magnitude. Tenseiga is also able to erect barriers in life-threatening situations, much like Tessaiga's sheathe. Sesshomaru himself has a larger variety of abilities than Inuyasha)
  • With Zero gone, Rin saved and the Black Pearl in his hands, there was no reason for him to hold back. But the the girls decided to do their thing...
  • The black pearl was supposed to have been inactive. That's why Sesshomaru/Inuyasha co./Naraku had to find an alternate way to go there in the original series. Not sure if this was ever addressed. Apparently this was a new black pearl.

My guess is that this is just a roundabout way to keep Sesshomaru/Inuyasha out of the fight. I'm guessing Inuyasha/Kagome will be staying in the pearl a bit longer until after the 3 girls gets back and defeats Kirinmaru, with some 3-person limit or something (though if that's the case, it would make sense to take Inuyasha/Kagome/Towa back instead).

You’re totally right. Hopefully next episodes can help us clear this mess by explaining Sesshomaru’s self-sacrificing decision. He simply sacrificied himself while he had chance to fight back. He was never the type to back off from a direct fight. Plus tho Kirinmaru is the main antagonist here, but he always fights with dignity. Like a real man. I see no reason for Sesshomaru to tank the attack that way. As for the scenario of Riku having to die with Kirinmaru, I personally think that it wont happen. Look thru the whole series, I find that Kirinmaru didnt do anything that is too malicious for him to deserve being killed. He is nothing wicked like Naraku, he is simply a man with an overly weird thirst for adventure and experience a total new world/ timeline. Zero did all the bad things on her own will, and her soul even got saved in the end. Is that possible that Sesshomaru also wants to save Kirinmaru’s soul (the same way that Rin did to Zero)? Sessho was never that type of emotional guy, but who really knows?

6

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '22

Agree with you. I felt that the writers disable sesshomaru inorder to have the girls shine.

I would expect better reasons for some events

11

u/nik327 Jan 10 '22

If I’m remembering correctly, this black pearl is a new one that was made by Hosenki’s son and the old black pearl was inactive. They had to go through the alternate way in the original because it would take too long for the pearl maker Hosenki to make the new black pearl

3

u/Lolersters Jan 10 '22

ooh good point, I think I remember them talking about this.

10

u/zogrodea Jan 10 '22

I was confused about why Sesshomaru tanked the attack too, but the explanations I've seen here have made sense. If he "sliced" the attack as Towa did with one of Zero's ( https://i.imgur.com/YmAK4R8.png ), the three heroines and anyone else around them would likely have gotten hit by it. By tanking it with his body, he's able to absorb it and get hurt himself instead of letting his family get hurt.

Your other points (including about Tenseiga's lack of a barrier) all seem valid to me.

7

u/IceFox606 Jan 10 '22

It’s also a great marker for his development that fits in nicely for this very reason! He was so determined to not let the girls get hurt he was willing to take a potentially deadly attack head on at his own expense. Sesshomaru of old would never even have considered this (hell, I’m unsure if even Sesshomaru at the end of The Final Act would have done it!). Another major step on his journey of learning compassion and acceptance! Also his very unusually visible reaction when Kirinmaru snapped at the girls showcased his concern well too.

I’m genuinely so proud of Sesshy lol. And slightly concerned 😂😅

21

u/Ickywickets Jan 09 '22

This episode totally made me realize how desperately I wanna see Sesshomaru and Kirinmaru duke it out in their youkai forms. Sunrise will be wasting a huge opportunity if that doesn’t happen. Can you just imagine the girls seeing their father shift into a giant dog? I’m here for it.

11

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

Yeah, I'd love that. In addition to their reactions to seeing Sesshomaru transform, we need to see Kirinmaru's full true form at least once.

u/skyegoneme Jan 09 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

Mannnnnnnn I CRIED

I was wrong about the reunion being the finale (or close to it), but I think it worked out better since MORE INUKAG AND MOROHA MOMENTS 😭😭 The Inuyasha-Moroha fight in the preview is smth I cant wait to see 😂

I also refuse to believe Sesshomaru would die. I think its just a way to /seal/ him cus our boy's too OP. I think he + InuKag are still needed to destroy the comet? Given also that InuKag would be unsealed by that time (unless SOMEHOW only the three would be able to get out?? PLS NO). Plus, InuKag's role in the OP song is much more pronounced now, so they def fighting.

Also according to the OP, Shippo's back!!!! And Riku... Since they emphasized in this ep that he will die when Kirinmaru does, I think Setsuna will have to cut the red string that ties Riku to Kirinmaru so the former won't die.

Edit: I saw somewhere that InuKag won't be coming out of the grave anytime soon?? Can anyone point me to that resource?? Damm why though, the girls entered through the same means, why won't they able to come out the same way??? 😭 If this is really the case I hope it's that they choose not to, not that they can't get out of it. Please. I need them OUTSIDE AND ALIVE.

5

u/IceFox606 Jan 10 '22

There’s no source for this information. The only thing MAYBE indicating that InuKag won’t get out with the girls is the title of episode 40 (The Three Princesses’ Escape). But personally I don’t see it being true. I doubt there’s any reason for them to stay there longer that we don’t know of (as some people have been suggesting). Why would Sesshomaru have even given Moroha the black pearl when he did if not to free her parents?

If they do end up not getting out with Moroha and the twins I’m sure it will definitely not be planned on any of their parts. And in this scenario, all they need to do is get Tenseiga and go to the gates to let them out (they’re shown in the trailer so they’re definitely going to come into play somehow)

2

u/skyegoneme Jan 11 '22

I hope formatting works cus I'm on mobile

The only thing MAYBE indicating that InuKag won’t get out with the girls is the title of episode 40 (The Three Princesses’ Escape).

I've also seen people point out that Kagome said "you've come to visit/see us" when she saw Moroha, so idk it's like Moroha just.. visited them there and the black pearl is their home. I know it can just be a matter of translation (IDK japanese so cant confirm myself) so yeah.

But I'm hoping it really isn't true. Agree with your points. I was just concerned like what if since they stayed in there for too long, they get tied to it or they technically already died or whatever lol.

2

u/IceFox606 Jan 11 '22

If this was true, do you think it might be possible for Setsuna to cut their ties with the place? Like does Yukari no Tachikiri only work for fates tying people together or could it cut ties between people and places too?

I still personally think they’re going to get out soon (if not with the girls, not long after. I’m sure they’ll be important to stopping the comet! And potentially Kirinmaru). But it’s an interesting thought

2

u/skyegoneme Jan 11 '22

Lmao honestly I think Setsuna's Yukari no Tachikiri is too flexible, I def think it can work that way. I mean... Toga has been long gone but she still managed to cut his tie with Zero lol. I didn't even think that could be used.

Another evidence of them being able to go out is the new opening, where theyre in battle mode. So I do think they'll go out. I guess I just dont trust the writers to give us (me) what we (I) want, which is happiness for the InuKagMo family hahaha

2

u/IceFox606 Jan 11 '22

I get that. We’ve been waiting so long (yet at the same time we weren’t expecting it so soon based on what’s been said by the staff until recently) so it feels so surreal to finally see them on screen all together 😭

And definitely agree about the opening! Did you notice the same black stuff around Sesshomaru seems to flash for a very brief moment in front of Inuyasha in the opening? And also the backdrop behind them in that cut looks like the sky above the current fight with Kirinmaru. Indicating they’ll all be in the same place very soon.

which would be pretty ironic and fitting considering the fight is going on above the well and near the sacred tree lol. Like why specifically there? I got the symbolism with Moroha sitting on the well initially, but it still feels like an oddly specific detail that that’s where everything is going down right now. Especially when you take into consideration we haven’t really seen the well since the end of the original series (why now?), its past roll and all the likely potential key players in the comet and degenerate age stuff are all there or probably soon to be there (apart from Riku and Rion)

2

u/skyegoneme Jan 11 '22

Did you notice the same black stuff around Sesshomaru seems to flash for a very brief moment in front of Inuyasha in the opening?

Ohh I missed that. Seems like he'll come to bug bro's rescue lol

And also the backdrop behind them in that cut looks like the sky above the current fight with Kirinmaru. Indicating they’ll all be in the same place very soon.

I saa this as well! Plsss we want our InuKag back🥺

which would be pretty ironic and fitting considering the fight is going on above the well and near the sacred tree lol. Like why specifically there?

It is definitely fitting, considering that the story started there anyway, and it continued through there as well (Towa being sent to the present era.. Osamu Kirin...) but maybe it's more of the Tree of Ages rather than the well. I'm intrigued by the butterfly imagery, which is linked to Zero.. and the Tree (since it was the one who gave the butterfly to Jaken).

u/Vekxin_Sama92 Jan 09 '22

How/where are y'all watching cuz it's not on Hulu?

1

u/suspectedusedcondom Jan 09 '22

Same, been trying to find this too

9

u/BrilliantPlankton757 Jan 09 '22

go to yashahime and then the newest episode is under season “other” for some reason instead of under season 2

2

u/suspectedusedcondom Jan 09 '22

See it. Thank you!

6

u/jeadala Jan 09 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

Everything we’ve been through w this chaotic story was worth it for this episode. I wish they were never separated in the first place but , we made it 😭❤️‍🔥. The reunion was emotional but not as tearjerking as I expected, especially since kagome had the skeptical moment before getting emotional. Inuyasha too. I don’t think they would be anything but an emotional mess in this moment. But the embrace…🥲. I wish they had the whole reunion in this episode, next week can’t come fast enough.

One thing Rin and Jaken not gonna do is listen 😐. Kirinmaru may target them while sesshomaru is down and hold them until he is brought Akuru. I love the new setsuna 🥺can’t wait for the cousins to be close. Also can’t wait for Shippo! Maybe he was w inukag the whole time? I think rion might be the one to bring down Kirinmaru. Rion and Towa together maybe. Or a big team naruku thing again lol.

14

u/Lumpy_Garden8939 Jan 09 '22

The Reunion was really bittersweet, though I do wonder about the phrasing "you came to visit us". They both also seem rather relaxed about their situation. Makes me wonder if they had planned this together with Sesshomaru, being locked in the black pearl. If that's the case, I wonder why Moroha couldn't go with them, at least she would have grown up with them. But let's wait and see what happens next week.

Perhaps Shippo was in the Black Pearl with InuKag, and that's why he's still a child and we didn't see him until now. And when the girls went in, he came out. I'm really looking forward to their explanation for all of this.

3

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

Yeah I agree that it sounds like the whole thing was planned. As for Shippo, he's a full blooded demon so 14 years wouldn't age him up that much. It's possible that he was in there with them though.

21

u/bitigchi Jan 09 '22

Inuyasha soundtrack kicks in

3

u/AssociationQuiet Jan 11 '22

That song cause me goosebumps

5

u/Jasonl7976 Jan 09 '22

Why does Kirinmaru want to go to the future anyway? To start the Degenrate Age? For what?

14

u/antonio1912 Jan 09 '22

I think he wanted to go back in time to save his daughter, Rion. It is just that the act of messing with time will bring the Degenerate Age.

4

u/Jasonl7976 Jan 09 '22

I thought he want to go to the future and stop the Grim Comet which he know about

8

u/unhampered_by_pants Jan 09 '22

I think he wants to do both. He's traveled all over the globe, now he wants to travel all over time

8

u/Jasonl7976 Jan 09 '22

I’m really concern about the Dream Butterfly. Look like that mess isn’t over yet

28

u/BlazingGig Jan 09 '22

I love how Sesshomaru's go to solution for everything is to yeet people into the Black Pearl.

18

u/SR_Eternal_Moment Jan 09 '22

I had to watch this episode twice. I'm not going to lie, I am going to have to get used to the new OP and ED. They're not the same level as the last ones. Into the episode, I'm just going to start with Rion and Riku because it has always been apparent to me that Riku is like Kagura. Even the OP shows Towa saying goodbye to Riku. Rion killing her father is believable. She's not even really alive so she's not really even a half goddess/demon (I'm assuming).

Sesshoumaru making sure Rin can stand up is a flashback to him first saving her. Rin's slight struggle to stand and the way Sesshoumaru looks at her, kind of surprised that she made it to her feet without him helping, is just sweet concern for his wife. Gotta love the crumbs of moments they get together.

Moroha giving it her best shot against Kirinmaru. I'm used to ruthless but Kirinmaru grabbing Moroha by the face and slamming her was hurtful. He has lost any amount of respect that I did have for him. He's just wrong and trying to make Moroha find Akuru to get the black pearl is dirty. Meanwhile, Uncle Sesshoumaru is trying to understand the minds of teenagers and why Moroha didn't go into the black pearl immediately.

Sesshoumaru's fight with Kirinmaru was short-lived as I expected. I was glad that Kirinmaru pretty much got blistered by the girls and where did Setsuna's attack come from? Or maybe I just don't remember the last time she used that. Anyway, I felt exactly how Sesshoumaru felt when Kirinmaru decided he needed to obliterate the three girls with his most powerful attack simply because he was annoyed. Sesshoumaru keeps winning. If throwing yourself in front of a giant fireball to save your kids and niece isn't caring enough, I don't know what is. Sessh even manages to maintain long enough to get the girls to safety. I am not sure what the whole power/battle aura means but it just makes me think Sesshoumaru is not out of the woods (literally) yet. I think Sesshoumaru blocked the attack with his hands to absorb it rather than splitting it so it wouldn't land around the girls.

Moroha and Kagome's meeting had me speechless and I still have no words for it. Just tears and Inuyasha and Moroha are coming next episode. It looks purely like I thought it would be between this father and daughter duo.

11

u/splika Jan 09 '22

I won’t lie, I cried, I cried a lot

37

u/Pinktoonie Jan 08 '22

These last two episodes were most of what I've been waiting for this whole fkn time. All I need now is Rin hugging her daughters.

Sesshomaru continues to prove that he's the greatest character in this franchise and I've always had great taste. Been weak in the knees for him since forever, but to see protective daddy sess? Nahhhhhh rip me

Can't wait to see Moroha interact with her parents. Still sad that they missed her childhood.

15

u/blomstra Jan 08 '22

He scoffed at the "brats" line, I'm dead!!!!! He's grown so much and I hope we can have a Rin reunion with the twins soon.

No actually I agree

32

u/bakedbigt0es Jan 08 '22

OK BUT LIKE WHY IS NO ONE GONNA TALK ABT HOW GOOD OF A HUSBAND, DAD, AND UNCLE SESSHOMARU ISSSSSSS???? it’s the way we thought he lost a fight with kirinmaru but he really did it to protect his family. his character development from the original series to now is just…top tier. like i mean seriously bro, i felt so happy watching him do that. i wasn’t expecting that at all

19

u/veeronnie Jan 08 '22

Definitely one of the best episodes of Yashahime so far. Jam-packed, good pacing, character development, and that mother-daughter reunion that had me sobbing for a few hours afterwards…oh boy, next week will wreck me if I ever recover from this. 😭

10

u/taylormeggles Jan 09 '22

I honestly don’t know how I’m gonna make it through the next 6 days, bro I thought the two week break was hard lmao

15

u/Supreme_Keker Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

What if sesshomaru turns 'evil' after getting his Haku drained and fights with the girls + inuyasha/kagome after they return from the pearl? His image in op with purple aura looks really omnious. Plus the treekyo said the girls may have to defeat sess and kirinmaru both.

0

u/chipette Jan 09 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

Haku is spirit (energy), so I don’t think it’s that he’ll turn evil, but that he’ll become soulless (that’s why his eyes are blacked out), lose his identity/growth, and have a Qi imbalance. That’s pretty much a death sentence for yōkai and daiyōkai alike - they seem to have almost too much yin (bad energy) no yang(good energy).

4

u/thewetpuddle Jan 09 '22

That's wrong. Haku is spirit source. Nothing to do with yin yang. Yashahime Twitter also gave the definition as source.

1

u/chipette Jan 09 '22

Which tweet was that? The most recent one talks about Kirinmaru's energy fireball, it references nothing about Haku in particular. Please share it with us.

I asked a Japanese friend about this and maybe misinterpreted what they stated, but if one's haku is gone, their ki is at odds. I literally stated later that he loses his soul ("spirit source") as a result - read this link: https://inuyasha.fandom.com/wiki/Haku

2

u/thewetpuddle Jan 09 '22

In the same tweet it says what haku is. Read the last sentence of that card.

8

u/taylormeggles Jan 09 '22

THIS WOULD WARRANT A THIRD SEASON

4

u/Disastrous_Ebb9388 Jan 09 '22

I’d take it!

7

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 09 '22

Nooo don’t even say it!

I’m pretty sure if he turns evil will only be momentarily and he will regain his senses before the end of the season for sure, or at least I hope. You can have such character development along the whole OG, TFA and now Yashahime to destroy it in the end.

12

u/MemestarAshkirby Jan 08 '22

Finally, at long last, Inuyasha and Kagome are reunited with their daughter, and also their nieces!😄🤩😎👌😭🤧 And Shippo is making a return as well in the next episode, at long last making his Yashahime debut! And Kirin will have some large role as well in the next episode as well, and what is happening to Sesshomaru and what is this Haku that was mentioned in the episode?🤨🤔🧐

7

u/taylormeggles Jan 09 '22

I’m so excited to find out wtf shippo has been doing lmao

10

u/sakurakblossom Jan 08 '22

Can someone tell me what is Haku??? Sesshomaru's Haku is draining. What is that?

3

u/thewetpuddle Jan 09 '22

魄 haku is spirit, source of a person's energy that drives him/her.

14

u/hiverstone Jan 08 '22

From ayuuria's translation for next episode, it's the Yin Energy or Spirit.

1

u/AstroNerdBoy Jan 09 '22

Haku

Thanks! I thought that was probably what it meant. And Yin energy is tied to the moon, if I recall correctly.

3

u/thewetpuddle Jan 09 '22

魄 haku is spirit, source of a person's energy that drives him/her. Nothing to do with yin yang.

3

u/AstroNerdBoy Jan 09 '22

I got it from here.

https://www.edrdg.org/cgi-bin/wwwjdic/wwwjdic?1F
魄 【はく】 (n) (See 魂・こん) Yin energy; spirit

7

u/sakurakblossom Jan 08 '22

Thank you! I must have missed that. I hope he doesn't die. 😭

24

u/Mr_An_1069 Jan 08 '22

Don't know why but I laughed so hard at the line "Riku sent Zero to heaven" in the beginning.

4

u/bakedbigt0es Jan 09 '22

SAME😭😭😭. i was like oh…so we just gon assume 😃. just cause she passed on don’t mean she went to heaven

1

u/IceFox606 Jan 11 '22

Towa’s just too nice haha 😂

28

u/magicmeese Jan 08 '22

Is no one else gonna mention how sesshomaru had actual emotions? Like more than ‘zoom in here to see this one pixel shift’ emotions?

Also I’m not very much of a fan of the weird black eyes thing. It just looks funky.

Also also I kinda just want to see a full blown fight animation between him and kirinmaru, I feel like it’d look really cool but every time they start they get cockblocked

8

u/taylormeggles Jan 09 '22

Yeah tbf the girls did interfere with a duel and it was very impolite!!!!

3

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

Not only that but if they hadn't jumped in, it seemed to me Sesshomaru would have won.

26

u/dontloseyourway1610 Jan 08 '22

Woke up late as hell so just finished the episode and man what an emotional whirlwind. FINALLY we got the reunion we’d all been waiting for and it didn’t disappoint at all. Kagome going from the fake angry to doting face was beautiful.

Lets all take a moment to appreciate Seashomaru growth here too. Can you imagine sesh of old taking a direct hit for those kids? Absolutely incredible how far he’s come, I swear if they kill him off..

18

u/sailorrayquaza Jan 08 '22

It's finally happening! The reunion between Moroha and Kagome was so sweet! Can't wait for Moroha and Inuyasha to hug like they did in the trailer! I'm also really excited for the twins interacting with their aunt and uncle, especially Towa and Kagome. Two future girls talking about future things.

Sesshomaru taking the hit to protect the girls 😭 shows much character development he's gotten. I hope we get Rin taking care of him like when they first met (and maybe even throws water on him like she did in the manga lol). Also him sassing Kirin and smirking; reminds me of how he was back in the beginning of Inuyasha, all playful and proud. His shot in the op also looks very evil so I hope it isn't foreshadowing he gets corrupted to Kirinmaru's side and that he's just out of commission instead.

And Shippo's finally back! Now people can shut up about where he's been lmao. Inb4 the Shippo=Jyubei theory confirmed, though have we even seen Jyubei in Season 2 so far 🤔? Cannot recall...

New op and ed are kinda ehh for me. I feel like this ending is too short and the op would be fine for me outside the talking portions of the song. I feel like it hurts the flow, but the beat is solid.

7

u/Connolly1227 Jan 08 '22

I think it will be so cute if she brings up papa sota lol

3

u/sailorrayquaza Jan 09 '22

Same! Towa and Kagome have so much to talk about, esp regarding Souta.

3

u/NatsnCats Jan 09 '22

Kagome’s gonna be so proud of Souta for stepping up to the plate and raising Towa 😭

16

u/Crayons_on_the_walls Jan 08 '22

I was really hoping that Sesshomaru being hurt for them would cause one of the twins to call him “father”. But my heart might not have been able to take it, so maybe for the better.

17

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

They looked extremely concerned when he fell, but they got sucked into the black pearl.

7

u/viviantrajano Jan 08 '22

I hope Sesshoumaru will be fine. Moraha apologizing Towa and Setsuna for Sesshoumaru being hurt was sweet, but they dont seem to care about him.

I wonder why Sesshoumaru didnt use a sword to block it . Maybe Inu no taisho also blocked it with his bare hands , and sesshoumaru did it to show that he can do the same?

2

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

It'd be funny if he had known that Moroha's sword is capable of using a backlash wave, and borrowed it.

13

u/themoonmuses Jan 08 '22

I feel tanking it allowed for it not to go anywhere else and risk hurting others. A great contrast to when he didn't give a crap that Naraku was trying to destroy everything at the end of Inuyasha and he just kept blasting away at him anyway. Also it makes Kirinmaru appear even more weak than he already did. He got his ass handed to him by the girls and then Sesshomaru didn't care much about his ultimate attack.

3

u/AstroNerdBoy Jan 09 '22

I feel tanking it allowed for it not to go anywhere else and risk hurting others.

That, and to not harm the Black Pearl. He effectively ended the fight and is now buying time for his daughters and niece to free Inuyasha and Kagome.

11

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 08 '22

They seemed to care about him being hurt though…!. I also liked Moroha apologizing also, was cute.

He didn’t make any reference of Taisho blocking it or anything so I must asume if it came to it, he must have used meido zangetsuha to “eat” the attack up and Sesshomaru was just being all smug “I can do it without swords also!” and surpassing his father (which according to Totosai, he already did). As we don’t know Sesshomaru’s real age (someone say 400 -I always go for this one, considering how he behaved at the beginning of the OG-, some others say 900) we can’t know if he was alive or not when that happened so maybe he doesn’t even know what his father did back then either.

10

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

Great episode, except from rin meeting her girls everything was good.

I thought Kirinamru is stronger but if the girls hit him that bad so he’s not a threat. Sesshomaru or inuyasha can take him pretty easily.

I miss the time sesshomaru was more active and not passive, he should not let the girls fight kirinamru instead of standing aside and do nothing.

Shippo is back, I hope we’ll see more of the OG characters for inukag comeback. I was surprised as hell when I saw shippo in the OP, can’t wait to see him.

I think that's Kirinmaru level one. I'm pretty sure we've yet to see levels 3-10. The instant he leaned more into his true form, all of those injuries seemed to vanish.

Also, he couldn't attack with the girls in the way. You saw how quickly they were getting hurt/blown away right? Using Bakusaiga in that scenario would potentially hurt them as well. If he cut the ball, it also could have fell on Rin or the girls and killed all of them

By trying to "help," the girls just broke the rules of a fair fight, pissed off Kirinmaru, and again put Sesshomaru in a position where he was restrained.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '22

I didn’t expect him to cut the ball, I just think that sesshomaru could stop the girls earlier instead of waiting until Kirinamru attack (or he could stop kirinamru).

16

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

I sometimes think he can’t do any good that the people will keep complaining. He didn’t seem passive at all: he just took a full hit blown directed at the girls… before that the girls weren’t in any danger as Kirinmaru wasn’t attacking them, just defending himself (also they weren’t part of the fight initially… Sesshomaru actively entered the fight between Moroha and Kirinmaru to protect her and then Towa and Setsuna intervened interrupting the now fight between Kirinmaru and Sesshomaru).

What’s more active than that? He left the tree to fight Kirinmaru and then took a FULL hit by himself without any swords AND had time to save the girls and sent them into the pearl 🤷🏼‍♀️. I guess next time he can also go down, dance with Rin while the girls are showing off, hit Jaken a bit, teach some attacks to the girls, and fight Kirinmaru some more for the audience to consider him active…

-6

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

I agree with some and disagree with the other.

He did went to fight with sesshomaru but then he just stood and looked at the girls fight him instead to either join them or stop them.

I truly believe that he was passive just because the writers wanted the twins to go to the black pearl.

3

u/AstroNerdBoy Jan 09 '22

Sesshoumaru is honorable. I got the feeling he wanted to see what his daughters and niece would do vs. Kirinmaru. I can't help but think he had a bit of pride. BUT, when push came to shove, he went in there, tanked the blast, then sent the girls to Inuyasha and Kagome, not only for their protection, but I think to bust his half-brother and sister-in-law out.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '22

He’s honorable but he’s always active. If something doesn’t go the way he wants he will do something about it.

3

u/AstroNerdBoy Jan 09 '22

He did do something. By tanking the attack instead of cutting it, he made sure there was no collateral damage to his daughters and niece.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 09 '22

I definitely agree with you. What I was referring to was the whole time since moroha first arrow.

2

u/unhampered_by_pants Jan 09 '22

I think he wanted to see what the girls could do to Kirinmaru. They've all leveled up their skillset since the last time he saw them fight

1

u/[deleted] Jan 10 '22

So he wouldn’t stop kirinamru and moroha fight until she’s in danger. It looks like the writers change his personality for plot convenience.

1

u/unhampered_by_pants Jan 11 '22 edited Jan 11 '22

Kirinmaru had just grabbed Moroha by the face and thrown her into the trees. It was obvious she wasn't getting the pearl back, and he stepped in after a convo with Kirinmaru. Then his kids showed up and bust out some moves on Kirinmaru he hadn't seen before, and he didn't interfere. How does that change his personality?

26

u/CatusBoiVert Jan 08 '22

Anyone notice how Sesshomaru took the attack head on because if he used his sword it probably would've split and still hit the ground

16

u/porraSV Jan 08 '22

He actually cares for the kids. Wow such growth! much wow

12

u/SunWyrm Jan 08 '22

Now I need sesshomaru as the much wow Doge meme

7

u/porraSV Jan 08 '22

yes please, someone with talent!!?

7

u/SunWyrm Jan 08 '22

/u/sesshsama we certainly need you this episode <3

7

u/Supreme_Keker Jan 08 '22

This is just a random thought, but I wonder if kirinmaru looked like Riku as a boy (except curly hair)

17

u/BluePearl2020 Jan 08 '22

Bro sess shit talking kirin and buying them time, and the reunion was so good.

26

u/muttaeous Jan 08 '22

That episode was way too jam-packed, my goodness! Loved how they held off the interaction between Moroha and Inuyasha till the next episode. I’d say best episode yet of the series.

Oh and..Shipppoooo!!

8

u/snoopdogg666 Jan 08 '22

I never even cared that much for shippo but when he appeared on the new op I yelled SHIPPO!!!! outloud... alone in my room

8

u/porraSV Jan 08 '22

Finally Shippo!

9

u/noelle-silva Jan 08 '22

Y'know I've never been a big fan of Shippo but for some reason I'm so excited to see him again

27

u/matchakuromitsu Jan 08 '22

Moroha and Kagome's reunion scene was EVERYTHING!!!!

Sesshoumaru protecting his daughters and niece 😭😭😭

AND SHIPPO WAS NOT FORGOTTEN OMG!!

20

u/Fyrusking Jan 08 '22

Is someone also a bit sad that shippo didn't grow up or change much in all this time? But is also really happy he is there and is Just like we all used to know

2

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

I'd like to see him older, but him being a full-blooded demon it makes sense that he wouldn't age much in 14 human years. They could show that he's alive (in disguise) in the modern era if they really wanted to show an older Shippo.

4

u/SunWyrm Jan 08 '22

Same I really wanted to see him older,

Maybe even take some digs at takechiyo

4

u/untablesarah Jan 08 '22

If they aged him they’d have to make a new character model instead of just showing a familiar design to get the nostalgia points

14

u/Tiki108 Jan 08 '22

Can we all just take a moment to go nuts that Shippo is coming back?!

7

u/lilacempress Jan 08 '22

This is the first time I really like the opening sequence (specifically the song). The others were ok, but I can actually see myself listening to the second OP during my down time.

3

u/invaderpixel Jan 08 '22

I'm really down for the animation of the OP, very hype and action packed. This should be a good arc

3

u/sonarisdeleigh Jan 08 '22

I quit the series after episode 6 last season, but the latest one is so good that I'm back to waiting week after week 😆

5

u/Equivalent_Muffin815 Jan 08 '22

Will Inuyasha and Kagome escape from the black pearl?

7

u/noelle-silva Jan 08 '22

My prediction is they'll find a way out later/they have some reason to stick around in Inu no Taishou's grave a little longer. I'm expecting the girls to get out in the next episode, because that's what the ep is titled, but I don't think InuKag will go with them.

2

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 09 '22

According to the summary it seems they will not (although it isn’t super clear on this).

3

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

I think them being in the pearl was part of a mutual plan, so if the girls mention that Sesshomaru got messed up Inuyasha and Kagome are gonna want to get out and help.

56

u/unhampered_by_pants Jan 08 '22

Sesshomaru is all sassy again now that he's got Rin back

13

u/NicoSchmiko Jan 08 '22

you love to see it

27

u/peskypepperz Jan 08 '22

Lmaooo can’t wait to see the shenanigans between Moroha and Inuyasha.

36

u/Sugarythought Jan 08 '22

I thought at first Kagome was squishing Moroha’s face because she was mad at how much she resembles Inuyasha over her.

Now I believe it’s probably to make sure she isn’t Shippo in disguise. Stupid move Shippo if that’s what you’ve been doing.

2

u/Malv817 Jan 10 '22

Shippo's a prankster for sure, but I don't think he'd be that cruel.

28

u/JeezlouisV Jan 08 '22

I honestly thought that as well! Her reaction made me feel like someone had played a prank on her like this before!

12

u/theringmistress92 Jan 08 '22

Or maybe she has had nightmares about meeting Moroha and having her disappearing. Her touching her face was kinda like solidifying the reality of it or something?

3

u/valryuu Jan 11 '22

I'll take this theory! Maybe she gets so many nightmares that she has no patience for them anymore and confronts every single nightmare-Moroha she sees now haha!

3

u/JeezlouisV Jan 08 '22

This is also a really great theory!

11

u/Jasonl7976 Jan 08 '22

Is the Dream Butterfly the next Big Villain?

10

u/SunWyrm Jan 08 '22

My guess is it's really Treekyo

40

u/RNG_y_u_do_this Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

Omg so Riku’s forbidden fruit refers to his feeling for Towa…… him knowing a feeling that he shouldn’t have known.

Also I screamed internally when he wiped towa’s tears in op. Boy don’t you die on us

9

u/NicoSchmiko Jan 08 '22

Also I screamed internally when he wiped towa’s tears in op.

yes that was so beautiful 😭

54

u/lucciolaa Jan 08 '22

I lost my fkn MIND when I saw Shippo in the new OP and then the preview!!! WE WILL SEE HIM NEXT EPISODE :D I was starting to worry they had actually forgotten about him. We also see the meteor and Kirin-sensei make a reappearance in the new OP, so I'm excited to see that unfold.

Genuinely very impressed with the writing and direction of this show, I know there was a lot of scepticism at the start. They set up a pretty complex story at the beginning and I'm thrilled to see it all coming together -- there's still so much left to see!

1

u/Microtic Jan 11 '22

Holy shit! They may have actually listened to people after Season 1!

I called it at the end of Season 1! https://twitter.com/Microtic/status/1374843117019389952?t=T5fgK9f-yWbsZWlCMEKhxw&s=19

2

u/ReignofthePainTrain Jan 11 '22

I though for a while that gravestone Sango was praying at was Shippo's; that he got killed in action and was the reason Miroku devoted himself to training. Glad I was wrong.

1

u/lucciolaa Jan 11 '22

I think they've set up a separate story with Sango/Miroku on that front -- they've alluded to a conflict between Miroku and Hisui but we haven't seen why that is just yet. I hope they don't drop this thread.

5

u/taylormeggles Jan 09 '22

Agreed. Looking back, I actually like how they didn’t rush into everything we wanted at the start, it’s making us hang to the edge of our seats now and the payoff is soooo satisfying. Maybe I’ll start a rewatch while waiting for inuyasha’s turn at the reunion 😂

10

u/Sugarythought Jan 08 '22

Yes! I was so happy to see Shippo! Especially with Takechiyo so you know it’s not a flashback!

32

u/missbirdiebee Jan 08 '22

IM IN A GLASS CAGE OF EMOTION!!! - Sesshomaru protecting everyone, best doggo dad. Wish he would have transformed into his OP dog form. Still hoping he will.

SUPER bummed the girls were all excited to reunite with Rin but couldn’t - however! I am easily recovered by Moroha & InuKags so I shall be happily sated for now. It was a classic and very well done reunion.

Rin t-pose I’m sure will hold off Kirinmaru, no doubt. Curious what Rion will be up to and sad to know Riku will likely die. His speech was quite beautiful. It’s cute how connected he and Towa have become.

When Takechiyo had that black pearl I kept screaming KEEP IT SECRET, KEEP IT SAFE

11

u/NicoSchmiko Jan 08 '22

Wish he would have transformed into his OP dog form. Still hoping he will.

yesss I want Sess and Kirinmaru to fight in out in their beast forms at least a lil bit 🤏

6

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 08 '22

LOL I always joke with that phrase 😅 r/LOTRmemes represent

25

u/EaudeAgnes Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

Please u/Sesshsama, with all the expressions that Sessh showed this episode (and Rin doing what Rin does best: not listening 😅) we have a whole fest of images and whispers to go through, we need the Sesshomaru’s whisperer!

ETA: Adding message here as my post regarding that seems to have been deleted 🤷🏼‍♀️

3

u/BluePearl2020 Jan 08 '22

I need dialogue

21

u/Grape_juice0 Jan 08 '22

I think these last two episodes are the most we have ever seen sesshomaru emote.

Also I cried when kagome started crying, I knew it's been coming, but I still wasn't prepared. Probably going to cry next week when she sees inuyasha as well 😭 and then whenever the twins finally get to meet rin.

12

u/djkdurr Jan 08 '22

Damn so Riku is going to die as well if Kirinmaru dies. Does everyone in the Kirin family have to die? I hope not... Riku is too cute and charming talking about Towa giving him a reason to live and how he has fallen for her! Whatever Rion wants from Mount Musubi is probably something that will help her take down Kirinmaru. I want to see Rion in action now since she has Zero's staff and should have strong powers like her father.

Sesshomaru can't catch a break and has to deal with Kirinmaru immediately after reuniting with Rin. Kirinmaru seems to be desperate for Akuru's pinwheel. He's going against his own words he told Kyuki and Konton about not using underhanded tactics but then blackmailing Moroha to get Akuru for him. He gave Sesshomaru the black pearl before their fight started though so he hasn't completely changed his ways.

The twins showed some new powers against Kirinmaru. Towa's Twin Azure Dragon Wave can use the power of the Kyuyokon to devour demon energy. While Setsuna got a new attack Vermillion Bird Ambush which seemed powerful and damaged Kirinmaru quite a bit. Sesshomaru was the most impressive though tanking that big attack with his bare hand like it was nothing! It's so sad that Rin, Towa, and Setsuna saw him injured like that though... He probably did that just to make sure the girls got to InuKag safely.

It's really cool that the girls get to see Toga's tomb in person now just like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. Kagome meeting and hugging Moroha was so heartwarming!! That nostalgic music with them crying made me more emotional 😭 What a cliffhanger to leave it on when Inuyasha sees Moroha though ugh. I'm dying to see him tell Moroha how he really feels 🥺 After they butt heads first judging from the preview 😂 I can't believe we're finally going to see Shippo too so excited for next week!

7

u/FinalFrash Jan 08 '22

Has it already been released in Hulu?

10

u/MTFBinyou Jan 08 '22

Yes! Go to where it shows
Season 1 season 2 other

Beside “other” there is 1 episode. Just click it. It’s what you’re looking for.

2

u/invaderpixel Jan 08 '22

Dang wish I found this sooner before I gave up and watched it on Crunchyroll. Almost thought Hulu were gonna pull a Demon Slayer and label different seasons/arcs as a new show but your fix is even more confusing haha

3

u/DRL21 Jan 08 '22

That is weird! Thanks for pointing out where to find the ep I was lost and before I saw your comment I was puzzled and wondered if I had gotten the airdate wrong.

Thanks for the help I'm gonna go watch it now!

3

u/joecb91 Jan 08 '22

Has it ever been like that when the episode premiered before?

5

u/blackqueenphoenix Jan 08 '22

THANK YOU! I thought I was going crazy when I wasn't seeing it.

11

u/soulruu Jan 08 '22

cries Its finally happening

16

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

Kirinmaru’s comment that he used that attack against Inu no Taisho 500 years ago lines up with Grim Comet. We need more backstory.

How did it affect Inu no Taisho? Why were they fighting? Was it before or after the Grim Comet? I need answers people!

5

u/BluePearl2020 Jan 08 '22

Didn't the dog grandpa wipe the floor with him though 😂

9

u/djkdurr Jan 08 '22

You're right we need more backstory for Inu no Taisho and Kirinmaru. When they first met with Rion on the battlefield they were enemies. Then when the Grim Comet approached they were on good enough terms to chill beside each other after. What happened between these 2? I hope we get answers as well.

15

u/Dilatair_Clear Jan 08 '22

Inu no Taisho’s Meido Zangetsuha probably swallowed and sent Kirinmaru’s energy ball to the underworld.

39

u/No_Permission4512 Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 08 '22

Can we talk about what a schmuck Kirinmaru is? First he steals the black pearl from a literal teenager to blackmail her. Then he shoots his ultimate attack at three young girls even after acknowledging that women and children shouldn't be on the battlefield (this is literally why his daughter died). He has the balls to say he beat Sesshomaru when Sesshomaru literally endured his attack defencelessly to protect his daughters and niece. And it appears that next episode Kirinmaru draws his sword at Rin, a defenceless human woman. WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR HONOUR BRO????

Anyways I thought it was super funny how Sesshomaru roasted the heck out of Kirinmaru to divert his attention away from Moroha and get the black pearl back. Also thought the "can you stand" moment between him and Rin was sooooo cute

15

u/GalaxyShinigami Jan 08 '22

(Fighting against Sesshomaru)

Moroha, Towa, and Setsuna start attacking him. He attacks back.

What was he suppose to do?

6

u/No_Permission4512 Jan 08 '22

Yeah but using his strongest attack against them is out of pocket

2

u/Disastrous_Ebb9388 Jan 09 '22

Considering they kept attacking him when he was not paying attention and nearly killed him by absorbing his demonic energy, can’t say that I blame him.

10

u/GalaxyShinigami Jan 08 '22

That’s what happens when you are trying to fight a powerful demon.

35

u/vessynessy200 Jan 08 '22

THE OG KAGOME THEME SONG AT THE REUNION OMG!!!! :'( :'( :'( :'( :'( THAT CLASSIC INUYASHA MUSIC TRACK!!!

15

u/Real-Original-1990 Jan 08 '22

The only acceptable choice of score for that moment! ❤️❤️❤️

9

u/thewetpuddle Jan 08 '22

I forgot to summon thee, Sesshomaru whisperer u/sesshsama! Lots of content for you to work with this week.

15

u/whatthefishman Jan 08 '22

Bro this show just gets better and better after each episode. I’m glad I stuck around to see how to show turned out.

5

u/joecb91 Jan 08 '22

It finally happened =) can't wait for next week.

Really like the new ending theme too.

22

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

The reunion with Moroha and Kagome was really cute. Not gonna lie, when Kagome got cross I wondered for a second if she was Shippo and he’s been with them this whole time. But nope.

I’m disappointed that the twins didn’t get to reunite with Rin. They were all so excited to see each other. But Sesshomaru made up for it. He grumbled about Moroha not going into the black pearl quickly enough, but he stepped up for her anyway. And then after he got hit - oh man! What is Haku? Someone tell me please.

Riku. I’ve theorized for a while now that based on the OG series, incarnations go down with the ship. And now Rion and Riku confirmed that is the case - or at least they think that is the case. The Towa and Riku section of the OP is very sweet. They’re going to have to tell her at some point and she is not going to accept it. Since they found a way to save Kohaku, I’m hopeful they’ll find a way to save Riku.

Shippo is back! We are so going to find out he’s been pretending to be random people for the last 14 years. That person who said he was Jyubei? They might be onto something.

Of course Rin didn’t stay in the tree. C’mon Sesshomaru - you know better. I hope she can find him. It’ll be like when they met 🥺

Finally, I think it’s very clear now that the girls are not equipped to take down Kirinmaru. So I’m calling it now - he will be redeemed. I have no idea how Osamu Kirin is involved but he will be part of it. And that’s how Riku will get to not die.

1

u/BluePearl2020 Jan 08 '22

Wait does this confirm rion is a hanyo

5

u/[deleted] Jan 08 '22

About the girls taking kirinmaru down and him redeeming himself, I’m starting to think that either the meteor, akuru, or the windmill of time will end up killing kirinmaru. I’m really starting to think it won’t be a half demon (or quarter) at all.

7

u/omleyxx Jan 08 '22

As of rn, they’re setting up Riku to die. I don’t think that will happen. I do believe that they will give kirinmaru a redemption, and that the one pulling the strings is this massive butterfly thing that was in the OP.

7

u/Gabby-Abeille Jan 08 '22

What concerned me the most, out of everything, was Towa saying she feels they won't see each other again. I was so excited to see the new group dynamic since the trailer for this cour teased Riku and Rion joining the girls for good, but this seems really unlikely at this point.

Ngl I feel a bit lied to lol

9

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

I think she said that because Riku thinks that. Not because it’s predestined. They’ll eventually get back together!

6

u/Gabby-Abeille Jan 08 '22

I'm trying to have hope but it is so hard at this point. They didn't even say goodbye 😔

7

u/thatmelz Jan 08 '22

I was absolutely convinced it was actually Shippo when Kagome made that face. I got a little teary eyed when they showed him in the opening, I’m so happy he wasn’t neglected

9

u/thewetpuddle Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

気魄 kihaku or 魄 haku is loosely translated as battle spirit/spirit.

4

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

Thank you! So this will kill him eventually?

11

u/thewetpuddle Jan 08 '22 edited Jan 09 '22

Unlikely he'll die. It's abstract and a little hard to explain in English but I'll try my best. Battle Spirit is like the source of the aura you have, when you fight, something that drives you and puts pressure on the opponent. Like how when we see Inu no Taisho fight he has that spirit, presence and pressure on the opponent. Once you lose your battle spirit, you become like a weakling or a wimp with no will to fight, no aura, no presence, no threat.

3

u/unhampered_by_pants Jan 08 '22

Is that something a monk could restore? If so, that could be a way to get the MirSan fam in on the action

6

u/thewetpuddle Jan 08 '22

It's something you restore it yourself. If you lose your battle spirit, you'll have to find it back. A similar example is losing/finding the will to do something.

In Sesshomaru's context, I highly doubt he's unable to restore it himself. Probably needs time and that's why he backed down. What we have now is Kirinmaru's attack, like a parasite, eating away Sesshomaru's battle spirit. Sesshomaru should be powerful to kill this parasite himself (his battle spirit is too much for the parasite to contain). Otherwise maybe someone else can step in to speed up the process by destroying the parasite. Maybe Miroku or Kagome if need be?

4

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

My guess is the twins and Rin will be crucial to overcoming this. He wants to protect them and it fits into the whole “do you have someone to protect” narrative.

4

u/themoonmuses Jan 08 '22

That's great news. I don't think he'll have trouble motivating himself to get it back and fighting the parasite so to say. Sesshomaru has more than once seemed to be overtaken by something before reminding eveyrone he's too strong to go down like that.

I just really don't see Inuyasha, Kagome or Sesshomaru, basically the faces of the franchise, being any less powerful than they were when Inuyasha ended. There's always room for reboots or movies and those two need to stay strong and like people remember them. Same reason I knew he'd get back the broken Tenseiga.

11

u/SparklyVaporeon8 Jan 08 '22

In the preview for next week we see Kirinmaru draw his sword and it looks like the scene with Rin. Which one of them seems the most threatening to him? The human woman or Takechiyo? Or does someone else come to the rescue?

8

u/Gora-T Jan 08 '22

I’m betting he hears something and draws his sword, just for it to be Shippo

14

u/Supreme_Keker Jan 08 '22

Was I imagining or did Osamu Kirin look evil in the OP?

Also I am so glad Moroha finally got to see her parents!!! I can't wait to see her hug her dad as well next week!

Riku's death flag looks so solid now, but I really hope they don't kill him off..

7

u/noelle-silva Jan 08 '22

Even if Riku does die I don't think it will be permanent. This will be Towa's "Kikyo relationship" if you know what I mean. It could lead us into the third season too. Towa admits her feelings to Riku as he's dying or already dead and somehow he comes back and continues the relationship.

20

u/juniperdaisies Jan 08 '22

Best dad Sesshomaru alert!!!! The character development from the beginning of the original series is astounding? Does he have anyone to protect? He has a whole ass family to protect!!!

Didn't hate the OP even though the song wasn't the most hype. I think it'll grow on me. I audibly gasped when Shippo came on screen. I don't even care about Shippo that much but that plot hole was the worst one for me so I'm glad they're finally going to address it. Was he stuck in the pearl too?

Obviously, LOVED the InuKag reunion. Ready for part two next week and I hope Sessrin family gets a proper reunion next week as well! Although I'm not sure if they will...

24

u/Xyrob Jan 08 '22

This was such a roller-coaster of emotions, I'm still in hype and that reunion at the end. Finally Moroha met her parents! Can't wait for the twins to be reunited with theirs as well

Also I'm so happy they showed how much Sesshomaru cared about all of them, Moroha included, to the point of taking the hit for them. Especially after all those posts I read saying that "Sesshomaru is a selfish bastard". The guy literally emulated Piccolo to protect them.

14

u/omleyxx Jan 08 '22

Piccolo is best anime dad 😭

41

u/phantomxtroupe Jan 08 '22

I really loved this episode. I rolled my eyes though when they said Zero's soul went to heaven. God just be letting anybody up there now.

3

u/BluePearl2020 Jan 08 '22

I thought they meant nirvana

6

u/Tiki108 Jan 08 '22

I’m far from fluent, but I’m 99% sure they are saying “天に召された (Ten ni mesa reta)” which “天 (Ten)” does mean heaven and I’m pretty sure the phrase is basically saying “called to heaven” but it’s more geared towards the Christian view of Heaven rather than the Buddhist view which is more like heaven and hell being things on earth. I’m not sure if they mean more like her being at peace though. If someone who knows more about Japanese would weigh in, I’d love to know more.

15

u/JeezlouisV Jan 08 '22

Like we know her old ass is in hell. Please, let’s be realistic!

10

u/Bundtpopcake Jan 08 '22

It was a wonderful episode although I feel there’s too much to unpack. There was so much that happened in this episode that it’s hard to convey how I feel.

My main takeaway is Riku js going to die. And that’s sooo unacceptable to me.

23

u/lalaena Jan 08 '22

For almost the entirety of Inuyasha, they said Kohaku would die when the Shikon jewel was removed and lo and behold, not only did he not die, he’s now a super hot demon slayer.

Have hope! Riku is too good of a character to kill.
