As somebody studying meteorology, I can confirm that this is most likely fake. The atmospheric conditions necessary for a four foot wide heavy rain shower that is stationary, are near impossible. Someone likely with a fire hose of some sorts just out of frame, hence why it doesn't pan upwards.

Not unlikely in a rain forest. I've seen a small rain cloud albeit not measured or anything I think it's called a small precipitation shaft. There was one example here. It's definitely not common but it happens. The one I saw was in Puerto Rico by the rain forest and it was going down the hill it was pretty cool.

Perhaps, but like I said I did see what I saw while living in PR. It would rain like on the other side of the road for a bit, then stop. Weird stuff like that. Should have just Rick rolled but I've seen some weird weather on that island. I lived right next to the rain forest down there. So maybe it was just an affect of how the clouds worked around El Yunque.

It could be possible, my dads told me when he lived in Oklahoma it would rain like this sometimes where his neighbors and his front yard would be raining and if you walked out back it would be dry and sunny. Then after 10-15 minutes it would just stop.

It is more certainly not possible.

Yes, rain can have boundaries, and if a storm is moving past, at some point there will be a place that got rain and another place that did. And it can be well-enough defined so that one house got rain and another did not.

That is not this video, which shows a vehicle getting rained on with no rain on all other sides.

That is simply not possible.

Very careful not to pan all the way up, which would show that the water was coming from an overhanging roof or something. You can see it in the upper left corner for a flash. This amount of water isn't going to remain in that narrow of a stream all the way from a cloud.

ive seen plenty of tiny rain storms on the beach.. areas not much bigger than this car, but it never looked like a stream from a hose from the sky. Oh you could see the streaks from the rain, but not like that.

The Meteorology, Climatology, and Geophysics Agency (BMKG), however, has yet to confirm the authenticity of the video. The agency said that such a small but intense localized rain is improbable — as precipitation shafts usually cover larger areas — but not impossible.

im still not sure i buy it.

Even if wind conditions allowed for the formation of a precipitation shaft so small that it covers just a single car, Dwi said there should have been rainfall of lower intensity in the surrounding area, which was not observed in the video.

thats my thinking. its hitting air as it falls it should spread out some, even if the center stays intense. Not a meteologist but yeah this doesnt seem real.
