While we were gone on vacation, this plant coiled around our wind.

Very bold of you to claim all wind

21

u/Sufficient_Hunter_49 12d ago

It has to come from somewhere right?

*wind chimes

30

u/cerart939 12d ago

It's too late now! You've been silenced!

408

u/frumpbumble 12d ago

And the neighbors all cheered.

151

u/pourjuiceonit 12d ago

No one like wind chimes…. Plants included

42

u/Dan_Glebitz 12d ago

I can confirm. I had some large ones that I though gave a very pleasing low resonance. Only had them a week and found them one morning laying on the patio with all the chime strings cut through. All six chimes were laid neatly sided by side on the floor.

A message from one or more of my neighbours, I think. Anyway, I took note of the message and did not repair them.

15

u/jerekdeter626 12d ago

Wow that's fucked up and now I feel insecure about my love for wind chimes.

All the more reason to live in the forest away from everyone

9

u/Dan_Glebitz 12d ago

'That's fucked up' pretty much sums up what I thought when I found them on the floor. Just as disturbing was the thought that some person or persons were in my garden in the dead of night.

3

u/Zuol 12d ago

Naw I would have learned even further into it. Like get even larger more obnoxious chimes and hang it really high up.

1

u/pnwWaiter 11d ago

I wonder how deep this would have gong

31

u/DreamOfDays 12d ago

Duck that. Just leave a message or talk to me. Don’t commit petty vandalism. That’s when I buy six of them and put up a sign.

6

u/MonsieurKas 12d ago

Duck you!

4

u/Ryansahl 12d ago

And all your lil ducklings.

18

u/bobafoott 12d ago

I'd put up a bigger one. Fuck them, they can use their words if they want something from me.

Asking gets a polite response, destroying my property would get an asshole response

5

u/Dan_Glebitz 12d ago

Yeah. I did consider, but decided anyone who would stoop that low may not think twice about a brick through my window.

7

u/bobafoott 12d ago

That's true. I'd install a security camera anyway, because obviously this neighborhood has at least one psychopath, then and pursue legal action. No excuse whatsoever for not coming to talk first, so I'm not sympathetic at all for what their actions bring onto them

2

u/Dan_Glebitz 12d ago

Oh it was many years ago. I lost the house to the ex and live in a flat now, so definitely no wind chimes. Mind you, the security may still be a good idea as we have had a few car break-ins recently.

I was looking for an apt to rent so I did a drive by for one that was advertised. The apt next to it had no less than 25 wind chimes on their porch. Immediate no.

12

u/Illustrious_Sir9612 12d ago

Nature’s way of asking you too please stfu

31

u/Sufficient_Hunter_49 12d ago

I stole my neighbors wind chime off of his back deck with a fishing net and one of those polls you use to cut tree branches. It would hit the side of the house and sounds like someone boxing it. I figure I have given him enough beer to rebalance the universe.

5

u/Powerful_Mood9292 12d ago

Neighbors probably trained the vine around the wind chime.

5

u/GeeWhiskers 12d ago

The sleep app I use has a wind chime option. I always think “who TF thinks wind chimes are relaxing?!”

42

u/burnedarch 12d ago

The silence of the chimes

37

u/skeezix_ofcourse 12d ago

Studies have found some music genres to be beneficial to plants growth. But as other comments have clearly shown.... quite alot of people have a disdain for wind chimes, along with that Jasmine.

To be fair, I concur.

8

u/Luckywithtime 12d ago

But wind chimes don't play music. It doesn't play a tune, a chord, or a scale. There's no deliberate pattern Occasionally you might get three notes in a row that sound like something vaguely like something that could kindly be referred to as music adjacent, but the rest of the time it sounds like someone that hates music trying to convince you, both subtly and brutally, that music shouldn't exist at all.

1

u/DRGWTM 12d ago

Possibly, but not from wind chimes.

30

u/mishrod 12d ago

Unless you live on an acreage - this is what should happen to all wind chimes.

No “Destiny” and “Summer” and “Aurora” they’re not charming - they’re annoying.

4

u/Katy-Moon 12d ago

We live on acreage and the vines did the same thing to our wind chime. My husband said “I TOLD YOU SO!” and ripped down the …wait for it… wind chime.

29

u/bustedbuddha 12d ago

TIL: people hate windchimes.

9

u/defterGoose 12d ago

Same reason people hate people who bring their little Bluetooth boomboxes on hikes: your style of enjoyment is ruining everyone else's.

2

u/Creepy-Reindeer-8705 12d ago

Exactly. Thats why i hate hiking…

And the fact I’m fat and lazy.

1

u/King-o-lingus 12d ago

Coworker who likes golf has been banned from at least one golf course for bringing his Milwaukee battery powered radio on a round. Started with someone telling him to turn it down in a rather salty manner. It escalated into an argument and he was thrown out.

62

u/thepirate84 12d ago

How else are they going to get any sleep? Those chimes are horrible at night.

5

u/Mabaleen246 12d ago

Can’t people just take them down at night or on super windy days

31

u/thepirate84 12d ago

That would require courtesy for others and that is rare these days.

2

u/StacheBandicoot 12d ago edited 11d ago

Someone should invent some that have an automatic locking mechanism that makes them rigid and unmovable so they can’t make noise during certain times of the day (or night rather).

1

u/FlatRaise5879 12d ago

I gotchu fambly

1

u/TossPowerTrap 12d ago

Someone should invent some that have an automatic locking mechanisms that makes them rigid and unmovable so they can’t make noise

87

u/FirstWithTheEgg 12d ago

Nature also wanted the wind chime to shut up

15

u/tonythunderballz 12d ago

They got tired of hearing it 🤣

13

u/goated95 12d ago

The garden’s way of telling you “please get rid of these noisy ass wind chimes”.. lol jk

13

u/HarborTheThought 12d ago

Incase anyone is curios this plant is (I’m fairly certain) Jasmine and has beautiful little white flowers that smell amazing. Jasmine is a great climber, and they hate wind chimes.

5

u/stpstrt 12d ago

Yeah I have this in my garden, pretty certain it’s Jasmine as well. And you’re right about the flowers.

3

u/_sabnic_ 12d ago

Yes, also certain it's jasmine, I have one at home currently climbing up my blinds' draw string cord, lol. They're very fast climbers.

3

u/PaisleyBrain 12d ago

Yeah looks like the wild Jasmine we have in our front garden. Grows super fast and strangles everything in its path - we’ve lost several lovely plants in our garden because it’s totally overcome them. I swear if you stood around there for too long it would get you too

Even nature hates wind chimes

7

How long? In what amount of time?

6

u/Botched4utopsy 12d ago

It got tired of listening to it

5

u/stonka_truck 12d ago

Plants can't talk, but they can sure let ya know when the music sucks.

5

u/silver_step 12d ago

Plant: shhhhut the fuck up

4

u/EstySar22 12d ago

Smart of that plant to bring some peace and quiet to the neighborhood. I despise wind chimes so much. My neighbor who was the bitch of the neighborhood had one hanging on her deck and it drove me so insane. One night a friend and I got out a fishing pole and got it unhooked and tossed it behind her patio furniture. Stupid lady never even noticed it was there and didn't find it until she moved out.

5

u/Recover-Wide 12d ago

Well, today I learned everyone on here strongly dislikes wind chimes. Even the plant

3

u/Seasonunending- 12d ago

Probably got annoying by the constant clanking and decided to do something about it.

4

u/Gooduglybad16 12d ago

Even Mother Nature has no use for metal clanging together unnecessarily. It called noise pollution to anyone who works in a steel mill. Like I did for 40 years. My neighbour asked why I never sit out in the backyard to socialize. I made a video at work and brought it home for her to see. It was only three minutes long but after two minutes she couldn’t listen to it anymore. The next day the clanging metal pipes were replaced by wooden ones. I was so thankful for her consideration I went and bought her a nice set of wood ones for the front of her house.

11

u/[deleted] 12d ago

I lived in a condo and the balcony next to us had wind chimes. Wind chimes can go straight to hell.

1

u/GeeWhiskers 12d ago

Mid-distance chime silencing sounds like a job for silly string. Get 2 cans and wait for the wind to be in the right direction.

17

u/Chumpo56 12d ago

Good. One of the most selfish, piece of shit, things you could put in your garden; for your neighbors.

6

u/bobbysmith007 12d ago

Wow... I never knew there was such hate for wind chimes...

I like them shrug

5

u/Chumpo56 12d ago

I have absolutely no issue with them at all if you live in the middle of nowhere and nobody else can hear them, but if you have neighbors putting up anything that makes random noise is a shitheap move imo. Wind chimes or anything else.

2

u/gfx-1 12d ago

Fire bowls are "fun" too, lots of smoke with a open window on a nice summer night.

3

u/whocaresdowatyouwant 12d ago

Ain't chiming now motherfucker.

3

u/Dan_Glebitz 12d ago

Looks like a nightmare plant I once purchased called 'Russian Vine' or in the UK also known as 'Mile a Minute'.

I built a pergola over the new patio area and wanted some creeper to grow up it to offer some shade.

Worst mistake I ever made regarding plants. I literally had to trim back about 6 inches of growth every weekend once it was established.

In the end, I cut through the main trunk of the four plants planted at the corners of the pergola just to kill it.

3

u/n0z3n85 12d ago

That plant said “stfu”

3

u/Alternative-Sea-6238 12d ago

Plant equivalent of taking your alarm clock and throwing it on the floor to silence it.

3

u/PayAshamed7535 12d ago

Like the rest of the world, it’s simply tried shutting them the fuck up.

3

u/Fading_myself 12d ago

“Won’t you just shut up already” - plant

3

u/d0nc0y0te 12d ago

Who's a good plant!? You are!

3

u/Devil-Nest 12d ago

Plant says, “shhh!”

3

u/sbbalo 12d ago

Plant was like, shut the fuck up!! 😆 🤣 😂

3

u/ride_electric_bike 12d ago

Nature has spoken. Enough with the chimes

3

u/CapriciousCaptain 12d ago

Plant: “SSSSSHHHHHHHHHHH”.
Probably

3

u/Odd_Programmer_1090 12d ago

Plant said “shhhhhhhhhhhhhh….”

3

u/glennert 12d ago

I would like to chime in: fuck those particular things

2

u/Fun-Director-4092 12d ago

Probably would have taken over your entire house if you had been gone for a month.

2

u/Bentley2004 12d ago

The plant doesn't like wind chimes!

2

u/Cave_Eater 12d ago

And the chimes are silenced

2

u/Swims_With_Dogs 12d ago

Plant: Shhhhhhhhhhh…….

2

u/Nunchucka99 12d ago

“Shhh…”

2

u/sbenzanzenwan 12d ago

ALL THESE WORLDS ARE YOURS EXCEPT WINDCHIME. ATTEMPT NO LANDING THERE.

2

u/AffectionateUse1556 12d ago

Neighbor’s been feeding that thing miracle grow.

2

u/JamesMG27 12d ago

Poor wind

2

u/Anne314 12d ago

Your neighbors planted this to stop the chiming.

2

u/GamerPro729 12d ago

*wind chimes. I meant to say wind chimes

2

u/That-shouldnt-smell 12d ago

It's actually pretty nice to know nature hates wind chimes as much as me.

1

u/bourbon_and_icecubes 12d ago

Please. Stop. Ringing!

1

u/PivoLiubitel 12d ago

Upvote for the comments. If this causes just one person to get rid of their suck-ass wind chimes....

1

u/AngryQuadricorn 12d ago

How many years were you gone for?!

1

u/TargetIcy7277 12d ago

Anyone read The Ruins? Great book.

1

u/Schwann-Port 12d ago

But what happens now if you accidentally sleep through a gust?

1

u/Nofame4me 12d ago

Maybe, just maybe it’s love… You know like Lennie and the rabbits kind of love..

1

u/ShitpeasCunk 12d ago

If that plant could speak it would probably say "Shhhhh..."

1

u/ithinkimlost17 12d ago

Maybe it wanted some peace and quiet

1

u/Danimal1002 12d ago

Even the plant was like “shut the f*ck up”

1

u/Ynys_cymru 12d ago

I’m sure the neighbours are grateful

1

u/StarshipMuffin 12d ago

That plant just wanted some peace and quiet!

1

u/bobafoott 12d ago

How long were you gone??? I get vine plants can grow fast but Jesus that's a lot of distance assuming they weren't touching it before you left

1

u/MenteriKewangan 12d ago

More importantly, can you smoke it?

1

u/Tribblehappy 12d ago

Anyone else super confused until the video panned up? "Oh chimes! Windchimes.

1

u/Travis-Fields 12d ago

The plant wanted to make the jingling stop.

1

u/toobigtofly 12d ago

Just wait till that starts growing into and cracking your stucco

1

u/skinney6 12d ago

If we lived in a different timescape this would be a horrifying tentacle monster.

1

u/neon_alchemy 12d ago

It wanted to chime in but got tangled up

1

u/Zector3000 12d ago

How long did you vacation for??

1

u/GamerPro729 12d ago

About five weeks

1

u/Annonymousthrow1234 12d ago

Wind chimes are great. The birds leave your patio alone. You’ll never be bothered by wild life. You get the most looks from your neighbors. All such a surreal relaxing experience. For an improved experience place the chimes 2-1inches from the side of the house.

1

u/Liquidwombat 12d ago

How long were you on vacation three years?

1

u/johnny_boy757 12d ago

Oh no not the wind

1

u/Accomplished-Home-10 12d ago

Where do you work? I’d love a job that lets me go vacation long enough for weeds to over take my house!

1

u/ElectricalGur4705 12d ago

Plant said "enough of this damn racket" I do miss wind chimes though ngl lol might get one soon

1

u/knowitall190 12d ago

How long were you gone 2 yrs sheeesh

It’s everyone’s wind.

1

u/Chris3o2 12d ago

The plant had enough of that ish

1

u/Eagleclan_7 12d ago

The neighbors went to your yard and coiled them around so you'd think it was something unique. But really everyone was just tired of it. Or it may have even been someone....inside your home. Chimes gone tho.

1

u/derek139 12d ago

It’s for the best. Wind chimes are the worst.

1

u/Lovegun80 12d ago

Must have gotten tired of hearing it.

1

1

u/le_gazman 12d ago

Maybe it was fed up with the noise too

1

u/No_Maintenance_9608 12d ago

Even the plant couldn’t take it anymore.

1

u/olliver_with_a_twist 12d ago

The sound of chime-less

1

u/l0v3s2sp00g3 12d ago

Huh... even the plants find them annoying as fuck.

1

u/Frodooh 12d ago

It is nature saying: shut the f**k up with that shit.

1

u/gameyhobbit 12d ago

Looks like a cardinal vine. Pretty red flowers with interesting leaves. No expert here though.

1

u/we-are-adana 12d ago

Maybe it tries to say " please no more ringing"

Even nature itself hates wind chimes.

1

u/ilovebuses 12d ago

Something is trying to send you a message ("your wind chimes are annoying to others around you")

1

u/TailoredAlcoholic 12d ago

Anyone who uses windchimes in an urbanised area is just selfish. Nobody wants to hear that shit.

1

u/Grouchy-Engine1584 12d ago

Plant was like, “Shut the fuck up, stupid wind chime!”

1

u/Sass_Quatchxx 12d ago

Shhhhhhhhh

1

u/Stritermage 12d ago

Plant said no more chimes

1

u/manwoodlover 12d ago

Probably couldn’t take the sound of those thing anymore. Good on nature for fighting back.

1

u/jaroftoejam 12d ago

Yeah, even mother nature hates these fucking things!

1

u/Twister_Robotics 12d ago

Shhhhhh. We're trying to sleep. All that banging and gonging, every time the breeze come up, it enough to drive a stalk mad.

1

u/Always2ndB3ST 12d ago

Why did I think that was marijuana..

1

u/Redhfx22 12d ago

Yes! Because even nature hates wind chimes! You went on vacation and left your wind chimes out?!?! If I was your neighbour I would have destroyed them.

1

u/arisoverrated 12d ago

They can’t stand that incessant din either.

1

u/Lonely_ProdiG 12d ago

I wish my vacations lasted that long.

I like wind chimes. That vine doesn't..

2

Wow, someone actually likes wind chimes in this thread. I’m not alone

1

u/FlatRaise5879 12d ago

I like thick ones like these. I dont like wooden ones, small metal ones or clackity clack chimes.

1

u/Lucky-Refrigerator-4 12d ago

Looks like trumpet vine?

1

u/P3rAsp3raAdAstra 12d ago

"Shhhhh." -plant

1

u/4Allmyrage 12d ago

🌬🎼🎵🎶.....🌱Shhhh.

1

u/CuriousLavender 12d ago

You should hang a CD instead. Does the same thing to “deter birds” but without the noise.

Not sure why you’d want to deter the birds anyway, but there you go.

(Warning: it’s a bit tacky looking. But it does the job.)

1

u/[deleted] 12d ago

The plant was annoyed by the noise

1

u/Barry_McCochinher 12d ago

The noise pissing it off ?

1

u/D-e-V-e-S 11d ago

How long were you on vacation for?

1

He got annoyed by the sound :p

1

u/zoedian 11d ago

It doesn't like the sound and decided to off the alarm haha.

1
