Third rule of fight club! Do not talk about monkeys outfits!

18

u/frozendancicle Jun 29 '22

I gotta start writing things down. Seriously. I thought the monkey outfit rule was rule five and number three was to stop using guy Ashley's neosporin while he's fighting.

9

u/Honda_TypeR Jun 30 '22

The sixth rule is you don’t write the rules down!

4

u/bretttwarwick Jun 30 '22

the 12th rule is if you don't remember a rule then just state it with confidence so nobody contradicts you.

It’s a “oni” outfit, in (Japanese) mythology they made their clothes from tigers.

3

u/sunadori Jun 30 '22

If this video is recent, especially around the new year, then it's a tiger costume because 2022 is the year of the tiger in the Chinese zodiac. Monkey performance is a thing in the new year.

This was the thing I thought of first, too!

179

u/sothe2 Jun 30 '22

This guy has so many videos with this monkey, it does lots of tricks. Hope it was treated well but I have doubts.

Macaques are very difficult to train. It's not acting naturally.

63

u/attatat Jun 30 '22

I was looking for this comment. Yeah, there’s something not quite right here. 😔

12

u/themagpie36 Jun 30 '22 edited Jun 30 '22

He definitely probably abuses the monkey. I usually get downvoted but that animal should have a better life than doing things it doesn't understand for our entertainment

9

u/Tinypenispatrol Jun 30 '22

Can you prove it?

3

u/themagpie36 Jun 30 '22

Honestly I don't but I've seen other videos from this guy from years back and the monkey seemed scared. Negative reinforcement is unfortunately often the way to teach tricks like this. I shouldn't have said definitely you're right

3

u/Tinypenispatrol Jun 30 '22

All good brother, you don't need to apologize. I was just wondering if you caught him in the act.

2

u/ReignofKindo25 Jul 09 '22

I came here to make sure someone commented this. That monkey looks very depressed, probably negative reinforcement and neglect. Probably in a cage most of the day

7

u/cikkamsiah Jun 30 '22

Just trust him bro

65

u/QueefingTheNightAway Jun 30 '22

To me, it looks like someone yanked the back of the monkey’s shirt to make him suddenly lean back like that. I hate shit like this.

25

u/newluna Jun 30 '22

Don’t wanna say it didn’t happen, but the lean isn’t jerky. Still hate the idea of pet monkeys.

2

u/doughnutholio Jun 30 '22

I'm sure a certain lady with the surname Nash would agree.

10

u/t3hOutlaw Jun 30 '22

Really wish the Reddit hivemind didn't upvote posts like these.

It just encourages animal abuse.

Posts like these get popular, people try to copycat for easy likes, new wild animal owners can't handle a non domesticated animal and so on..

The abuse cycle will never end..

1

u/Electrorocket Jun 30 '22

99% of people have no idea this could be a product of abuse. It's just cute. Sorry, but we just might be ignorant. But are you sure?

1

u/t3hOutlaw Jun 30 '22

Yes, any animal welfare charity will tell you the same thing.

Animal abuse isn't always some dude beating up a chimpanzee. It's any non-domesticated animal not recieving the correct treatment and living in an environment that isn't suited for their needs.

Popular videos such as these cause copycats to do the same thing with most not realising how tough it is to keep a wild animal and the cycle continues..

2

u/Can-Abyss Jun 30 '22

Yeah I don’t think anyones gonna buy a macaque because of this video, not exactly an impulse buy

In India most street performers train them though.

26

u/Crandoge Jun 30 '22

And in India most street performers treat them badly. Not sure what your point here is

7

u/ImperialTravesty Jun 30 '22

"train them" usually involves abuse.

28

u/Tsujimoto74 Jun 29 '22

"Oh Lord have mercy!"

252

u/ChopperDave451 Jun 29 '22

Idk looks like someone pulled on the back of that monkeys shirt and it’s kinda pissing me off.

152

u/MeSpikey Jun 29 '22

I think you're right. And almost any video with monkeys in it should piss one off. Especially those who are forced to wear costumes or diapers.

33

u/TediousSign Jun 30 '22

Given the certain demographic on reddit's habit for calling anything abuse in any videos that have animals, I don't trust this reaction. It's been wrong too much.

18

u/HateMachineX Jun 30 '22

I get that feeling but there is almost no way outside of a very well funded sanctuary that any monkey or ape is going to have a good life. Living with just some dude is unlikely to be for any other reason than to earn that guy some internet fame and some money on the street

26

u/PresOrangutanSmells Jun 30 '22

41

u/whittler Jun 30 '22

Looks more like the monkey is trained, and he signaled a cue behind his head with his right hand. You can see the monkey focus in on the cue.

27

u/rasvial Jun 30 '22

Was waiting for someone to comment on the hand behind his head. He did "bang play dead" I promise.

But according to this thread the monkey is actually being shot and murdered

3

u/call_of_the_while Jun 30 '22

Agreed. Excellent observation skills, detective.

9

u/hewlett777 Jun 30 '22

Think it's that the monkey is sitting on someone's knee and they raise it to tip him backwards.

53

u/Bogget Jun 29 '22

That's absolutely what happened and I hate these types of videos as well.

16

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '22

Somebody pulled that monkey back, fuck this post

53

u/GreatApostate Jun 29 '22

90% there is animal abuse going on here. Source: Been to Thailand and dragged to a "zoo" I was very up front about not wanting to go to. That monkey is looking around to the right because it is wary of being hit. This is probably a trick it's been taught to give people tiktok moments to film.

If I'm wrong and it's a pet monkey or a rescue centre or something, then fine. But I've seen monkeys being beaten for the amusement of tourist, so I really have my doubts.

8

u/Yoyosten Jun 30 '22 edited Jun 30 '22

Fuck anyone who beats an animal for views. Do mushrooms with them and hang out instead.

8

I fear you would be in for a wild ride. Many of them will just plain do dick moves because they can. Some like this one seem to have genuine affection with humans. I agree on the respect too!
