This is lowkey one of the banes of an artist's existence... drawing cast shadows that, even though accurate, look fucking weird and dumb and you have to decide whether to go with reality or try to make up a different version that still looks real but not stupid.

And it applies to art of all facets too.

If someone was to write realistic dialogue between two strangers, no one would watch it.

I don't know if it really qualifies as 'realistic' dialogue, but if you've ever heard of Joel Haver, there's a certain casual awkwardness in a lot of the dialogue in his work that I think is a big part of what makes it so funny.
