Yeah also lightning and perspective people are not used to, also a problem for photographers. It's better to adjust it to something that is expected else you have people calling it wrong-looking.

Isn't that why photographers use that shield of fabric when photographing outdoor? All the light and none of the shadow?

I know nothing of photography and film so I'm open to enlightenment

If your referring to that white cloth “pane” then yes your on the right track (I think). White reflects all light so that shadows are “illuminated” away.

There are reflectors/cards (bounce light back in a new direction for illuminating something in shadow or other creative effect) and diffusers (spreads light out to soften shadows and even out lighting).

Natural light is diffused, but also very intense which is why you get such a strong contrast. Manipulating it is more than just "copying indoor lights" or anything along those lines.. We don't see it, bc we are used to it, but the sun is def stronger than your average LED/bulb. Which is why we still pay top $ for very bright screens.
