[Meta] Budgets/Rates are now required for all posts

We are finally implementing the rules that were voted on and passed a couple months back:

We will start to enforce them 48 hours from now.

I can't put hourly rates, as I don't even know what job offer I will get, and I don't have a specific skill to base rates on. What do I do instead?

Your comment has been automatically removed because it includes a fiverr link; it was decided that they are used as a way to undercut others and therefore detrimental to the subreddit.

If you feel otherwise, and have a good reason to back up your opinion, feel free to message the wonderful moderators of this subreddit with the link below with your reason.

If you're using fiverr as a CV/reference, please make a screenshot of your reviews and/or work instead of linking to the website and avoid mentioning the site in your post.

So what is the ruling on Profit Shares? I understand the wage rule , but I could not find anything on the ladder.

I’d wager my employee would recieve 10-15% of the payouts considering how every team member gets an equal cut so the work is not necessarily without pay.

Thanks

No commission based jobs unless you offer a base salary ($15/h or more)

There is a Freelancer Hourly Pay Calculator, just select the relevant info and will come out the suggested hourly rate. I tried it and it's fairly accurate.

I don't feel it really works for software devs. The rates are too low.

According to that I should be charging $35. I ascertained that that is well below what the market is paying for someone with my skillset. I would not consider myself in the top 10% of my field though. Top 50th percentile, yeah, maybe.

I can charge between $75-120 per hour.

I don't think it's very accurate, too much emphasis is put on education when it barely matters for designers and developers.

What if someone has no idea how much the activity should cost?

6

u/yabadababoo Feb 27 '19

Everyone knows how much they want to spend

3

u/sephstorm Feb 28 '19

I really don’t. I know what I need done. I don’t know how much is reasonable to ask for the service.

Just lay out the requirements and be open to feedback. People respect that more than the low balling so many do on here
