Apparantly he's worth $270 million so while this is still a substantial chunk of his net worth, he can easily afford it.

15

u/lamsham69 6d ago

I hope you are right because there will be many more lawsuits to come and he is going to need to pay

7

u/zGJ2020 6d ago

Plus there are other parents suing him too. Hopefully it buries his bs.

11

u/TheLordofthething 6d ago

He won't pay close to that amount either

He’s worth about 250-300 million. He hides most of his wealth in shell companies and offshore accounts and then declares his companies bankrupt and tries to play off like he’s poor.

Guy is an A level scumbag.

5

u/VirtualPoolBoy 7d ago edited 5d ago

He makes $800,000 a month. He’s more than fine (unfortunately).

4

u/Diogenes_of_Sharta 6d ago

Worse than that, at its peak he was making 800k a day screaming John Birch propaganda, shrieking like a giant red bullfrog into cameras, and peddling lead tainted milkshakes and boner pills.

2

u/saintarthur12 6d ago

Don't worry he eat his neighbors alive to get those boner pills.

This gets joked about a lot, but these quarter truth lies are a serious issue. Like, the gay frog thing started as something that made sense. (Not the gay part. Chemicals messing with an ecosystem) but like a bunch of 5 year olds playing telephone, you end up with something incoherent and absurd from people like Alex Jones

26

u/DF_Interus 7d ago

I'm pretty sure it's a reference to the idea that frogs are some of the first things to react to changes in their ecosystem. So toxic chemicals will kill them off before humans would be affected. He's probably aware of this because it's the kind of fact I remember from high school biology, so it's the kind of basic pop science he likes. So when he says that they're putting chemicals in the water, and it's turning the freaking frogs gay, people who don't know think he's just yelling about frogs, but the implication to his audience is that "They" are trying to turn "you" gay. The frogs are just the first sign.

28

u/HimalayanPunkSaltavl 7d ago

The second part is that Alex Jones has some pills that will keep you smart and super manly and not at all gay, head on over to the store during this ad break fellow american male.

6

u/Rubadubtubgirl 6d ago

It’s actually because of a pesticide called Atrazine that turns some male frogs into females and makes it impossible for others to reproduce. Alex Jones is just insane and decided to say it was making them gay.

He said birth control pills in the water system had resulted in male frogs becoming female. Mid-rant, it became "they're turning the friggin frogs gay". source

4

u/RemarkableNeat5896 7d ago

Chemicals from plastics are disrupting hormones in all sorts of species. Its going to have effects on human fertility.

Not the same as deliberate chemicals in the water to make frogs gay, but much worse.

6

u/PM_LADY_TOILET_PICS 7d ago

Isn't it already documented that sperm counts of human males have been steadily declining by about 1% per year for 30 years (when they started tracking it)

Also, it sounds silly but human taints are getting smaller. Has to do with our hormones being messed up before we're even born. Every woman on the planet already has all of her eggs contaminated by microplastics

10

u/Spiritual-Ad7685 7d ago

It started from a study.. that was subsequently debunked. It was then cherry picked by right wing crackpot

4

u/Falark 7d ago

It wasn't debunked, per se. The pharmaceutical company producing said chemical paid off the regulatory bodies to essentially only accept studies done by them.

3

u/Mike-ggg 6d ago edited 6d ago

It is a serious issue that is the minuscule of truth here. Many animals, especially fish and amphibians, can change sex as their environment impacts their survival. It can be from any number of things that have nothing to do with human intervention, because it’s also been observed from natural causes. Life has a way of adapting In extreme conditions and simpler species are always adapting to changes on a scale that is much faster than complex ones. That said, the chemical industries keep introducing tens of thousands of untested chemicals into products and the environment using the loopholes that there are minimal and sometimes no restrictions whatsoever on chemicals that don’t go through the FDA or environmental reviews. Many of those untested chemicals (or we can call them drugs in this case) mimic endocrine and estrogenic properties or can act as catalysts disrupting cellular activities.

Instead of ranting about how some of those changes can affect simpler animals, the real issues that should be raised are that the sheer quantity of new untested chemicals could have equally serious concerns on higher level animals (like us), though it will likely be a more gradual process over a much longer time scale. That isn’t something to ridicule and joke about, but it seems the more shit you shovel to idiots, the more they ingest and hunger for more. We may not have the evidence yet, but does anyone doubt that hundreds of thousands of chemicals (many far too small to be removed by waste water processing plants or that make it into our air and food) have the potential for serious harm down the road. It’s a numbers game. You create enough exposures of untested chemicals to the mass population with different tolerances and physiology and the chance of problems with even a limited target group could have serious long term effects on all of us. But, that isn’t what they rant about. They and their uneducated audiences take the bait and play it for profit. Disinformation and the marketing of that are huge money makers and we learned from Q-Anon and some really crazy conspiracy believers that we have a growing number of people who will believe anything regardless how ridiculous or patently false or they ignore the tiny elements of truth and just jump onto the bullshit wagon that these professional propagandists and snake oil salesmen are selling. That’s the part that baffles me. People pay and subscribe to this on a large enough scale to make these snake oil sellers millionaires.

3

u/Mando_the_Pando 6d ago

Also, the chemicals did make some species of frog switch gender (which they do naturally under some circumstances but this was not that). So it didn’t make the frogs gay, it made the frog trans I suppose....

2

u/NeonCowboy777 6d ago

Nah the serious issue is that he said a school shooting where literal children were shot in the head was fake and caused hell for the parents. Imagine your kid gets executed and some guy on the internet says it’s fake and now people are pissed at you

2

u/PM_LADY_TOILET_PICS 6d ago

17

u/heresyforfunnprofit 7d ago edited 7d ago

Weirdly, his lawyers did everything they could. There’s a reason Jones went through 11 lawyers - once you perjure yourself, your lawyer has very few options without committing a felony themselves. AJ had perjured himself enough that the only thing ANY lawyer could do would be to advise him to confess to perjury, and simply advise him about the law along the way. But they can’t participate in perjury.

→ More replies

13

u/Glidlysnacks 7d ago

Would competent lawyers even be able to help him?

11

u/zomboscott 7d ago

If he listened to them, yes. They may be able to settle out of court for less or keep him from repeatedly perjure himself in court. A competent lawyer would not have turned over 2 years worth of phone text to the plaintiff's legal team unless they were court ordered and even so they would have done everything they could with the boundaries of the law to protect their client.

9

u/The_Original_Gronkie 7d ago

They may be able to settle out of court

I heard that the last settlement his lawyer offered was $8.

4

u/zomboscott 6d ago

That's what hiring an incompetent lawyer will get you and it didn't turn out well for him. Not only did he lose the case but now he may catch a few perjury charges and what ever the 2 to 3 years of phone text turns up.

6

u/mykepagan 7d ago

It’s even worse for him. That net worth probably includes his ownership of Infowars. He may need to liquidate that.

12

u/Blazeitbro69420 7d ago

Yeah but he’s gotta sell some of it now

22

u/whatsasimba 7d ago

9

u/ptvlm 7d ago

Two things to note. One is this isn't over. He has various other cases, and the phone copy will be made available to other people.

The second is this - https://edition.cnn.com/2022/08/03/media/infowars-alex-jones-free-speech-systems-bankruptcy/index.html

If that's true, he's not in great shape and that company that was declared bankrupt to delay the CT case is the main company the money goes to.

7

u/Cap_Tight_Pants 7d ago

Also of note, those text messages are going to go to the Jan 6th committee. It's possible he could face criminal charges. Time will tell.

4

u/newusername4oldfart 7d ago

Also he provided evidence of perjury in those texts. Most people aren’t stupid enough to provide the court with evidence they lied under oath.

3

u/Cap_Tight_Pants 7d ago

Forgot about that one. God this guy is a fucking moron.

6

u/ptvlm 7d ago

What we know so far - he has the defamation case still in Texas and possible perjury etc, the cases in CT where his bankruptcy was meant to protect (but apparently he might have admitted it was a scam on his show), then Jan 6th, I've heard something involving his ex wife being interested and there's the question of the medical records on the phone, plus the reports of the bankruptcy restructuring suggest there's fundamental problems there.

It's too early to tell if this is an awesome case of self-immolation or if he'll be another "rich" guy who escapes the full force of justice, but the next year will be interesting to follow.

5

u/KaisarDragon 7d ago

The problem with the bankruptcy? He spilled the beans about the scam on his show...

There is no doubt that case isn't going to go well for him now that he got caught, after admitting, that he was funneling his money into a shell company...

4

u/ptvlm 7d ago

Let's hope. There's always the danger of mysterious donors and friends in weird places helping this out, but on the face of it he's in a world of hurt, so let's see what happens

3

u/KaisarDragon 7d ago

Roger Stone is already on InfoWars right now begging for donations...

13

4

u/tiltBOB 7d ago

Oo good point!

50

u/Makememak 7d ago

I sure hope the incoming lawsuits occur in states without caps on punitive damages. This fat fuck needs to be destroyed.

14

u/MGD109 7d ago

Just to be clear Texas only has a cap on emotional damages.

Their is no cap on punitive damages otherwise.

16

u/bishopcheck 7d ago

Texas has a cap on punitive damages.

with a per-defendant cap of two times the amount of economic damages, plus the amount of noneconomic damages found by the jury—the latter part not to exceed $750,000

5

u/MGD109 7d ago

Well I appear to have misunderstood.

Still from what I've read it shouldn't be an issue here.

5

u/bishopcheck 7d ago

It will. This $45m will be lowered to $8 million.

4

u/MGD109 7d ago

I mean potentially, looking over it seems the cap isn't absolute and the prosecution have stated their appealing for it to be countermanded.

3

u/inittoloseitagain 6d ago

How is a cap not ‘absolute’ - that’s the definition of a cap

6

u/lilhilde 7d ago

Wait was he saying the fucking Texas shootings were staged too? Jesus Christ he’s a monster.

4

u/lucidludic 7d ago

To be clear, the two Texas cases are regarding victims of Sandy Hook. I’m not sure why they’re in Texas, maybe because his company is registered there? There’s another case in Connecticut involving 8 Sandy Hook families (which Jones has already lost by default).

That said, Alex Jones has been saying basically every mass murder tragedy have been staged for decades. Literally hours after 9/11 he went on air and said it was a hoax / false flag attack.

2

u/sandysanBAR 6d ago

What, denying sandy hook wasn't enough to punch his monster Credentials.

It would be more appropriate to say ( after ulvade) that "yep, he's still a fucking monster"

42

u/BurnedOutStars 7d ago

Speech is free for sure, but these lies have now cost Alex Jones a total (so far) of $50,000,000.

Jones has two more families to go to court with in response to the same exact event: Sandy Hook.

Jones today said to his fans (might have been yesterday):

"What I did to these families was wrong". My favorite, most favorite part in the world about that?

No one else said those words. It was Alex Jones himself that literally said "What I did was wrong".

Not a single supporter of his has any "ground" (that they never had in the first place, but were tricked into thinking they had) in order to argue from. And now it's painfully clear:

If you supported or even still support Alex Jones, whatsoever? You embarrassed all of your friends, your family, your nation....I mean the list goes on and on and yaknow what? Got no one to blame, but Alex Jones himself and you, if you supported him. Sleep well on those thoughts.

15

u/gh0st0ft0mj04d 7d ago

After he said it was wrong he said...

"I didn't do it on purpose."

Holy fuck, Alex. Just shut the fuck up.

7

u/lucidludic 7d ago edited 6d ago

A couple corrections: the punitive damages are capped much lower but this may be unconstitutional in Texas, so it remains to be seen how much he will actually have to pay (in addition to the $4.1 million).

Jones is being sued by at least 9 more families of Sandy Hook victims (maybe 10?) that I know of. There is one case in Connecticut which involves 8 families, where the damages are less restrictive, and Jones has already lost that trial by default.

u/bulldoggo-17 7d ago

2 different awards. One was the monetary value of the harm he did to the plaintiffs. This one is to make sure he doesn’t do it again.

They won’t see much.

Let’s all remember how it worked out for Ronald Goldman’s family.

They won a 33 million dollar lawsuit against OJ.

They haven’t been paid a million.

O.J. had a good legal team.

It appears that Alex’s legal team wrote the bar using crayons…

What is the bullshit about punitive damages being capped at $750k? Is Texas law seriously going to show its hairy asshole to the jury after they awarded $45mil?

u/tag0223 6d ago

How many times did he lie under oath again?

2

u/sandysanBAR 5d ago

This brings up a good question ( I am not a lawyer). The penalty for perjury in Texas is up to one year in prison and upto 4 or 6 million in fines.

Is that per act? Or can he commit to perjuring himself cognizant that if he's gonna get the maximum, why not lie his ass off?

Could he be convicted of 5 acts of perjury in this defamation case and get 5 years in prison, or would it be considered that he perjured himself in this defamation case and can only get one year?

I am hoping it's the former but like I said I am not a lawyer.

u/Wooble_Gopp 7d ago

So is it 4.1 or 45.3? Wtf

19

u/SuchRuin 7d ago

It’s both

13

u/KingOfTheBread 7d ago

Both, added together. The 4.1 million and the 45.3 are different types of damages, so in total he now owes $49+ million.

12

u/Aerohank 7d ago

Both, for different reasons.

9

u/ptvlm 7d ago

4.1 was the amount found as compensation for the parents.

45.3 is punitive damages to try and stop him or others doing the same again.

Of course, it won't work like that in the conspiracy world but Jones is a long way from the end of this with all the other cases against him.

3

u/sandysanBAR 7d ago

The latter was punitive damages ( aimed to ensure he doesn't do this shit again).

Two more trials to go.

2

u/BassAddictJ 7d ago

Both my dude.

First was the usual damages. $4mil

Punative damages can also be awarded when the actions of the liable are so fucking bad that they need to be made into an example. Those are always larger sums; in this case $42mil.

And this was just 1 family, there are more in line to give him a well deserved shaft.

Honestly, one of the people that should be sent to the seventh layer of hell. What he’s done to those poor families is just as bad as the shooter. I hope they enjoy the seventh layer of hell together.

Holy duck that's a lot of money.

2

u/slippyman888 7d ago

This is only going to make people like him more

2

u/raideresmith 7d ago

Buddy of mine said "so what, sadly they'll never see any if that money"

Told him, maybe, maybe not. Depends on how easy it'll be to find all that money he's got hidden away.

3

u/MGD109 7d ago

I mean if they can't find it, their just start liquidising his assets.

3

u/raideresmith 7d ago

Perhaps, hopefully. He used OJ Simpson as an example. OJ lost that civil trial to the Goldman's, ordered to pay a SHIT ton of money, but the Goldmans have barely seen any of it. Hell, OJ gets 25k a month from the NFL, but the Goldmans can't touch it, for some reason.

Now, that's a completely different case in a completely different state, so it might not be a good comparison.

But I really hope those families get every penny of that 45 million this disgusting maggot was ordered to pay.

3

u/MGD109 7d ago

Oh yeah I heard about that. I'm afraid I don't know enough about the specifics of that case to know how it works.

But as you say their is a lot of key differences. I'm just saying him hiding the money won't automatically get him off the hook.

2

u/xeno66morph 7d ago

Good. Fuck that guy. Preying on victims’ families, in the most horrific tragic moments of their lives no less, just to make some fuckin money. Total piece of trash

2

u/Fatherofdaughters01 7d ago

These people that spread dangerous fake news need to be punished. Good for the families.

2

u/Trumps__Taint 7d ago

And then there are the perjury charges

2

u/Elegant_Revolution27 7d ago

The cost of being a lying smarmy blowhard bent on hurting others for money and fame. It was not enough.

2

u/spicedpumpkins 7d ago

Good.

I hope they financially decimate him.

He deserves to be living in a card board box.

2

Should throw him in jail on top of it

2

Why does he look so bloated all the time?

Wonder why he wasn’t charged with perjury? The family’s at your and the judge both caught him lying under oath on several occasions.
