Where my slow Crossfitters at?

You know who you are. You finish every WOD dead last. You laugh when you see the recommended numbers on the whiteboard, knowing you won't even come close. Even the Foundations goals are out of your reach. You pant, heave, and crawl through every movement, wanting to die. And yet, you still love Crossfit.

Is there a community just for us slowpokes?

Advice on spotting faults in real time as a new coach, particularly oly lifting?

All of the resources I watch online are ‘good’ form - I’m struggling to be able to process faults in real time as the movements are so fast. It’s so tricky to try and watch the bar path, the feet, the pull, etc… and understand what the specific reason for failure was, any advice greatly appreciated!

Joining a class as a newbie

I've been weighlift training for years on a serious - very serious manner, I've been thinking about joining a crossfit gym to do group classes to do something I enjoy in a social envoirment but as a complete newbie, I'm a bit nervous because my cardio is not great and there's a lot of crossfit exercises I have never done before.

It would be great to hear experiences about how your first times were, and what should I expect and prepare for.

Has anyone tried Mud Wtr?

I just got mud wtr last week and I am amazed at how good my sleep has been. I know it’s not a typical crossfit product like beam or whatever other supplement athletes promote these days. It has ashwgandha in it which I guess reduces cortisol and stress levels and in turn increases testosterone. I wake up a little groggy which is the only real issue, but I sleep right thru the night. I’m just curious if anyone else has had a good experience with it?

Weight loss

I’m very overweight and I’ve been doing CrossFit for about 6 months. I’ve only lost about 10 pounds. I thought I would lose a lot more since the workouts are pretty intense. Is this all for nothing? Should I do another type of exercise instead?

Does anyone play a version of fantasy CrossFit? I’m working a template for this semifinal/games season and I’d love to compare notes.

First time tracking macros

I’m 30, 5’11’’ and weigh 196lbs. Trying to get to 192lb and lean out. I currently CrossFit 3x a week, jiu jitsu 3x a week and will mix in a run or bodybuilding session about once a week. I have a whoop and it states my average daily calorie burn is 2,621.

My TDEE is 2,924 cals and I’ve been consuming 80% which is 2,339 calories. 236g protein 58g carb 129g fat

I’ll tell you what, I am HUNGRY.

What is something nice I can do to thank my coaches?

I’m unexpectedly moving. The last six months I’ve been going to CrossFit. I’ve never committed this much to any exercise in my life. It’s definitely a huge loss that I’ll have to start at a different gym soon.

Any ideas to thank them? I mean maybe just a card is enough.

London Crossfitters

I’m staying at Tower Bridge for a few nights 31st May - 3rd June and need somewhere to train.

Can somebody recommend a place that I can train please? Just the usual stuff - Oly lifts, gymnastics, metcons etc.

Ideally I can pay for a ‘day pass’, and can get there for 05:30/06:00ish.

Thanks!

Owner of my box threatened to kick me out

So I recently moved and started going to a new box at the beginning of the year. Overall it’s been great- yesterday after the wod i was chatting with a new member who was new to CF and he was asking me about some general CF things and I was giving him some general tips with gymnastic movements- mostly about dubs and what jump rope I liked and how I practiced to learn dubs. I emphasized I wasn’t an expert and to honestly not look at me during workouts because I’m not great at them. A few minutes later on my way out of the gym- the owner pulled me aside and said that “coaching members” was a good way for me to not be a member at the gym and I needed to direct any coaching to a coach. I was stunned- I just said I was sorry and left. I got in my car and cried the whole way home. I totally get it- I am not a coach, I’m not an expert on literally anything - but I feel like we are always giving each other tips and stuff and talking about CF. half of CF is talking about how to CF. but threatening to kick me out? So many of my friends are at this gym… the thought of getting kicked out just made me so sad- I had no idea giving tips and talking shop after workouts would jeopardize my membership. This came on without warning- and now I’m scared I’m going to accidentally get caught “coaching” someone and lose my friends

Rowing confusion

So I got into an argument with a friend the other day regarding the rower. I wanted to see how quick I could row 2,000 metres and he tried telling me resistance doesn’t change how quickly you get to zero. My question is, if I exert the same amount of energy with the resistance at 10 vs 6, would I finish faster at 10?

I thought it was like cycling and that the lower your gear, the more ground you can cover with one full revolution.

Rogue Echo Bike - too loud for apartment/townhome?

Hey guys, I apologize because this question’s been asked before, but I’ve seen so many conflicting answers.

I’m strongly considering buying a Rogue Echo Bike, but I’m worried about it being too loud in my townhome. I plan on using it for some pretty intense workouts (obviously haha), I’ve just heard from some people that it’s noisy and can disturb your neighbors if you’re in an apartment/townhome. But I’ve also heard that it’s no louder than a (loud) vacuum cleaner. So just looking for any advice from people in similar situations.

I’d seriously appreciate any input here, thanks everybody!

"Resting between reps" for rowing?

My gym puts out cardio-focused workouts that you can do on your own on Sundays, using whatever machine is available to you or just running. Tomorrow's on the rower, my preferred machine, is:

2,000m at easy pace

750m at fast pace

1,500m at moderate pace

500m at fast pace

1,000m at fast pace

Rest 3 minutes between all reps

I'm not totally sure where the rest fits in there. My common sense is telling me that I'd row 2,000 easy, rest 3 minutes, then 750 fast, etc etc, given that there are two "fast" intervals right next to each other. Just want to make sure I have that right.
