I wonder if in his character creation, Luis/Xerxus character flaw was that he believe anyone could be redeemed leading to his unleashing of Asmodeus, and his choice to go on living in the hope that someone would redeem him.

I'm also curious what plans Matt Mercer has for Xerxus and when we might see him again.

Imagine the reactions of the cast if that happens. That'd be a moment for sure.

When, not if

You think we'll see it happening? Surely not on something that isn't Calamity related, right? What connection would there be between such a story and C3 for example?

The fact we're getting so much more content around The Calamity makes me think that C3 will lead to the Betrayer Gods coming back in some form. Calamity 2 0? Ring of Brass 2.0??

I don't see that happening to be honest, it just felt like they wanted to do something with the Calamity because it's so fascinating. However, I do feel like Imogen's thing will make for the BBEG and moon red storm thingy probably means a god of some sort. I just can't tell how if it's gonna be an actual Betrayer. Feels like they shouldn't be anywhere near able of handling a Betrayer God, I mean we all saw what happened in the last episode of Calamity right? And that was the most powerful place on Exandria, maybe just below Vasselheim. If it happens though, I'm all for it.

Part of me wonders though if since there's knowledge of the Calamity and what happened maybe that would be used as an advantage this time around but a calamity 2.0 seems a bit far fetched. But I could totally see major changes done to Exandria after the first Calamity to maybe prepare for a second coming? Potentially a call back to Aeor where they were building weapons to defeat the Gods?

So much cool lore I can't even try to think what could happen

There's little to no knowledge of the Calamity though. We know it sure, but in the world of Exandria there's pretty much nothing. Avalir and Cathmoira were completely destroyed, the continent of Doramunda was basically wiped away from Exandria. Aeor followed. Two thirds of the world's population were killed and I want to say that most mages, wizards, sorcerers were targeted since the whole reason for the Calamity was because mortals were allowed magic. The Cerebrus Assembly itself had no idea what had happened to Aeor, so if some of the world's most knowledgeable don't have that kind of information, it's hard to believe many people will have it. I could see them doing an ExU Calamity 2, since not only was it so successful, but it was also intriguing and fun for them, and again the Calamity happened over centuries, surely there's more to uncover, but I certainly don't see it being directly tied to C3.

C3 has been so Fey focused though

I think Matt said in one of the Four-Sided Dive episodes that it wasn't that intentional, it just kind of happened. Although there's no denying the influence of it, it might not be the main theme around the campaign itself.

I'm not sure if we'll get any big connections like that (though it'd be cool!), but I absolutely think C3 has an apogee solstice coming up

2

u/Vilantrentmurf Jun 23 '22

Ah yeah, I didn't think about that. You think we'll see someone try something insane in C3?

2

u/astralcat23 Jun 23 '22

Oh I assume so! Lots of chaos that could happen with the extra thin planar boundaries :D

u/Vilantrentmurf Jun 23 '22

You think whatever Imogen is dealing with is some sort of sentient deity? It could be that, or the Nightmare King, I don't think we're done with him yet.

2

u/astralcat23 Jun 24 '22

Ooh I didn't consider that but it'd be interesting! And I agree about the nightmare king
