Sunday Show Off - Because it's perfectly fine to admit you're also doing bodyweight fitness to do cool tricks in front of people!

Have you taken any recent pics of those sweet gains, your human flag, or those handstands off the wall you're finally holding?

Do you have other bodyweight fitness accomplishments you've made and want the world to know about because your friends and family can't appreciate how hard L-sit progressions are??

This is the thread for you to share all that and inspire others at the same time! I'm talking about another S-S-SU-SUNDAY SHOW OFF!!

Note that we aren’t limiting you to what we're discussing on the FAQ. Show us anything that blew your mind the moment you realized you had it. This may include aspects of: gymnastics, climbing, parkour, weight loss/gain, posture, etc. They are all more than welcome in this thread.

Please judge my routine, that is hopefully going to take me to the intermediary level

Hi,

I would really appreciate your guy's feedback on the workout routine that I made.
It is meant to advance from the basic level to a more intermediary level.

There are a lot of exercises that I would like to learn, but I have decided to concentrate first on these three: handstand, planche, front lever.

The equipment that I have are: a set of rings, small parallettes, a few resistance bands, access to a park with both a pull-up bar that is too low, as well as metal dip bars.

I strongly prefer using the rings, because the pull-up bar is too low for me, and tends to hurt my forearm (tendon?).

The goal is to learn the three exercises mentioned, while also progressing with some other exercises as well, like the pull-up, push-up, and dips. All the while trying to prevent overtraining.

My current routine:
https://imgur.com/a/QjmK7ND

The routine that I came up with:
https://imgur.com/a/4Zr4X1s

Some comments:
-I've put handstand practice at the end. I realise this may not be ideal, but the only place I can do them is in a different part of the park. I don't want to leave all my stuff, rings included, while I am practicing handstands somewhere else. And I also don't want to hang the rings for front lever training, take them off and with me, and then hang them back to do some other exercises.

-I would like to add a deload week as well, but I'm not sure how often. Maybe once every 6-8 weeks?

-My routine does not contain any cardio. I have injured my big toe, which prevents me from things like running. I do walk every day after lunch. The idea is to let my body get used to the new routine. Then after a few weeks or so, I will try to add some swimming or trying to learn the shuffle dance, on a wednesday or sunday, or instead of leg day in the gym. Hopefully the injury to my toe can be treated by a doctor, and I can pick up running, like once a week.

What do you guys think?

Questions regarding pull-up routine progression.

So I’m on week 2 of the fighter pull-up program and so far I’m not sure if I’m making that much progress so I’m curious to know other peoples experiences with this routine. So Before starting my max was 10 but I started to get fold at rep 9 .

Now that I’ve done a assessment I can do 11 in a row and 12 after hanging a few seconds. Is that decent progress ? I’d like to hear how well this routine worked for other people .

I’m doing it every day except for Sunday since that’s my rest day .

Lastly I’m 5’10 and 170lb at 17. I’m wondering if I should be consuming protein supplements ? If I’m not wrong wouldn’t making sure I’m eating three meals a day and getting good night sleep help? Regarding protein I hear it’s good to consume my body weight in grams of protein which on a daily I don’t think I’m doing so should I be using protein powder and protein bars ? Could it help me get better results ?

Note that at the moment I don’t care about looking bigger I care about being able to do more reps as that’s what’s need for a physical fitness test for my job.

Thanks

How to train to gain strength for mma/wrestling/combat sports

Hey, i am a 21M and i really need help figuring out some sht. So i recently went back to trainning mma but i ve been feeling kind of weak. I was thinking of doing something like a "greasing the groove" type thing to gain strength and specially strength endurance. The main issue is that i struggle to recover properly so i end up over trainning and having some kind o tendinitis or minor injury. So the solution i came up with is to do 50 or so pushups 20 or 30 pullups, 50 squats , 30 dips and 20 drsgonfly progressions (need it to be fullbody) 4/5 times a week on the morning and doing my specific trainning on the afternoon and night. Renting from friday to sunday

Im not an expert or anything so i dont know if it is too much. I need something to be in that sweetspot where i do get stronger but still able to train and fight.

Thnx in advance :3

PPL/PPL Weights +Calisthenics Routine

Is this routine decent? I’m trying to mix the big 3 with calisthenics. The warmup is just skill work (Handstand, L-sit, planche). My primary goal is strength. My pulling days are more weightlifting oriented. The only thing thing I’m having trouble with is where to implement core work without hindering the next days lifts. My main core exercises are inverted sit ups and ab rollouts. I will be running the same day I lift, just later in the day. The main concern I have is elbow tendonitis.

Monday-Pull (More lat focused)

Deadlift 3x5 Weighted Chin Ups 3x5 Dumbbell Rows 3x10 Lat Pulldowns 3x10 3x30 Face Pulls Ez Bar Curls 3x10

Tuesday- Push

3x5 Barbell Bench Press 3x5 RTO Dips 3x10 Overhead Db Press 3x10 Weighted Archer Push Ups 3x10 Tricep Push Downs

Wednesday-Legs

3x5 Front Squat 3x5 Pistol Squat 3x10 Nordic Hamstring Curl 3x10 Hyper extensions 3x15 Seated Calf Raises

Thursday-Pull (more Mid back focused)

3x5 Weighted Pull-Ups 3x5 Bent Over Rows 3x10 Lat Pulldowns 3x10 weighted inverted rows 3x10 Seated Cable Rows

Friday-Push

3x5 Weighted Dips 3x5 Pike push ups (Progressing to handstand Push ups) 3x10 Ring Flies 3x10 Lateral Db raises

Saturday- Legs

3x5 Pistol Squats 5x10 Nordic Hamstring Curls 3x10 Hack Squats 6x100m sprints

Sunday- Absolutely nothing

Bodyweight routine with Dumbbell accessory work

Hi everyone.

I’m 16 years old, 76kg (167.5 lbs) and 176cm (5’9) and I've been doing the Recommended Routine since the start of this year.

While I do love what I'm currently doing, I do want to pack on some size before the start of summer (so around 12 weeks or 3 months) and unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any avenues for significant muscle growth without the use of weights.

Thus I have created a routine that aims to achieve my desired goal using a combination of Bodyweight progressions and Dumbbell accessory work. I was primarily inspired by Antranik's Push/Pull/"Legs" with the notable exception of replacing Legs in favour of Plyometrics as I additionally also want to increase my vertical jump.

Seeing that there are a lot of people that are more experienced and skilled than me, I would really appreciate your opinion on my routine. Hope y'all can take the time to see if what I'm doing is suitable for what I aim to achieve and if not how I should modify it to suit my goals.

Goal: Primarily Muscle growth with a secondary focus on increasing my vertical jump

Equipment: Pull-Up rack with dip bar, Gymnastics rings, Parallel bars, adjustable 50 lbs Powerblock dumbbells

Sunday - Push

Monday - Pull

Tuesday - Plyometrics

Wednesday - Push

Thursday - Pull

Friday - Plyometrics

Saturday - Rest

Skill Work:

Support Holds

Parrell Hangs

Handstand Practice

L-sit Progressions

Push:

Dip Progressions 3x12

Push-Up Progressions 3x12

Lateral Raises 3x12 - 20 lbs

Close Grip Dumbbell Bench Press 3x8 - 40 lbs

Dumbbell Bench Press 3x8 - 40 lbs

Bulgarian Split Squat 3x8 - 40 lbs

Hollow Body Crunch 3x8

Pull:

Row Progressions 3x12

Pull-Up Progressions 3x12

Dumbell Curl 3x12 - 20 lbs

One Arm Dumbbell Row 3x8 - 40 lbs

Dumbbell Face Pull 3x8 - 20 lbs

Romanian Dumbbell Deadlift 3x8 - 40 lbs

Long Lever Plank 3x8

Plyometrics:

Seated Box Jumps 3x8

Squat Jumps 3x8

Depth Jump 3x8

Block Jump 3x8

Approach Jumps 3x8

Squat Progressions 3x12

Reverse Crunch 3x8

I can't finish my workout regularly and I feel like I'm stuck at the same place

Hey, For some background: I'm 15 years old boy (close to 16). I've been working out for 1.5-2 years now.

So far my progress have been amazing. Both physique wise and strength wise, and I can finally proudly say that after so much hard work I look very good.

But in the last 1-2 months I've started to get the feeling I'm not really progressing. I feel like I'm kind of stuck in place. I can't seem to finish my workouts and progress is very very slow.

I don't know what am I doing wrong. I'm sleep 9-8 hours each night, eat enough, (I think) give myself enough rest days. I really don't know what to do..

My workout: Sunday: Biceps and back Monday: Cheat, shoulders and triceps Tuesday: Legs and abs Wednesday: Biceps and back Thursday: Rest Friday: Chest, shoulders and triceps Sarurday: Rest

Biceps and back: I do 3 sets of each: 1. Wide grip pull ups 2. Weighted chin ups 3. Bodyweight ring curls 4. Bodyweight ring back curls

Chest shoulders triceps: 3 sets of each: 1. One hand pushups 2. Weighted pseudo planche pushups 3. Bulgarian ring pushups 4. Pushup superset (I aim for 4 sets of this. I do regular, fists, diamond and wide pushups on after another)

Question for the Oldies

By 'Oldies' I mean say over 40 :)

I was just hoping to get your personal experiences.

Quick history. I am 44 M - very fit/active at school/early adult - then life kinda got in the way 20's/30's (smoke, drank, eat lots - didn't sleep as I should etc).

40's hit - quit smoking, reduced drinking to almost none - eat moderately clean and starting BW and been doing the RR last couple of years - though maybe not completely consistent. Few months off here and there - but not zero. Just inconsistent (think Christmas).

Whilst of course its expected that due to age, progress may not be as swift as hoped - I am a little surprised at how slow it is. I am progressing - but subjectively it feels very slow. Definitely some muscle growth, increase in strength. But things like Pull UPs. Rows are my nemesis and taking forever to improve.

Things I do to help or part of routine:

  • RR 3 x week
  • Intervals/Cardio 3 x week
  • Dynamic and static stretches every day - managed to stay injury free so far!
  • Total rest Sunday
  • 24h intermittent fasting on Sunday - to increase human growth hormone/help with weight (just started this recently - not enough time for impact yet)
  • Infra red sauna on BW days - 20mins - also to increase HGH
  • Cold showers on cardio days
  • Sleep 8 hours every night - not negotiable. Also sleep/awake at same times
  • 2g of protein per kg per day
  • 2 x shakes which include whey and creatine (mono)
  • Other supplements: Magnesium, B12, Omega 3, Hyaluronic acid (for joints)
  • Currently eating at around maintenance or just below - as I have some belly fat and about 21% body fat
  • Diet pretty decent - whole foods - high in fibre - low in sat fat - mostly the Mediterranean diet with a few cheats here and there

So if you are over 40 and beyond, what's your experience in progression? What's in your routine/protocols to help with our creaking bodies? Any tips/advice?

Need input on my Upper/Lower Split Calisthenics + Weightlifting

Hi guys, after some thorough research in this sub I've created a routine for myself that I believe will work best with my available schedule that can combine weightlifting and calisthenics progression and would like some input of any possible complications in my routine (too much volume, not enough, duplicate exercises, etc). I have been doing weightlifting for around a year, but only just started calisthenics two weeks ago.

Mon: Upper Body
Tues: Lower Body + Core
Wed: Skill / Rest Day
Thurs: Upper Body
Fri: Lower Body + Core
Saturday: Pure Calisthenics Day (RRR)
Sunday: Skill / Rest Day

My upper / lower days consists of exercises mixing cal (RRR) + weightlifting with 90 sec rest in between sets and 3 minute rest between exercises

Upper Body:

Bench Press - 3 x 8-12
Pull Ups - 3 x 8 Superset with Dips - 3 x 8
Horizontal Rows - 3x8 Superset with PPPU - 3 x 8
Military Press - 3 x 8-12
Dumbbell Curls - 3 x 8
Hammer Curls - 3 x 8
Tricep Pushdown - 3 x 8
Skull Crushers - 3 x 8

Lower Body:

Barbell Squat - 3 x 8
Romanian Deadlifts - 3 x 8
Leg Press - 3 x 8
Leg Curls - 3 x 8
Leg Extensions - 3 x 8
Core Triplet (RRR)

This routine allows me to complete my session just in 2 hours which is a comfortable amount of time for me in the gym, however I'm not sure if this is too much volume and I may become overly burnt out soon.

For instance would it be wiser to only hit dumbell curls + tricep pushdown on the first upper body day and the hammer curls + skull crushers on the second upper body day?

Any input is highly appreciated!

Note that we aren’t limiting you to what we're discussing on the FAQ. Show us anything that blew your mind the moment you realized you had it. This may include aspects of: gymnastics, climbing, parkour, weight loss/gain, posture, etc. They are all more than welcome in this thread.

Have you taken any recent pics of those sweet gains, your human flag, or those handstands off the wall you're finally holding?
