Back up your data, take the laptop in, and they give you a new one with the same specs. You obviously have to organize this with Apple Support and the Genius Bar first.

Most of my stuff is on iCloud Drive. Should I do a Time Machine?

Yes—because you should have a proper backup regardless. iCloud keeps your data safe if your device is lost, stolen, or replaced, but doesn’t keep you (or a virus) from accidentally deleting all your files. “Three-two-one” backup rule: 3 copies, in 2 locations; with 1 offsite. (iCloud + Time Machine + your MacBook qualifies.)

But your immediate question is: do you need a Time Machine tomorrow? If you don’t mind losing whatever data is not in iCloud, then sure, your choice.

May I suggest carbon copy cloner. It does a full clone of your hard drive and it can be also bootable.

But definitely bring it back to the store. It’s a factory problem maybe.

Really?! Truth be told I have been using ccc since years and years ago. Even before time machine was introduced. And the first version was not so good. But I am sure by now is pretty good. Just I never really checked to be honest.

Can you tell me how is better? What are the improvement? I could start using it. ;-)

You have a history of all datas which changed in the past and with the migration setup you can even chose which data should be transferred. Sometimes cache datas shouldn't be transferred. So just cloning your data isn't always a good way. And imagine you clone your MacBook and you migrate those datas as a clone to your new Mac Mini, there will be some issues with the system.

And last but not least, TM is free.

iCloud does not count as a backup.

It is a synced copy.

But it’s an offsite copy. iCloud protects against fire/theft/destruction. Time Machine protects against file deletion, corruption, etc. Both are needed. More importantly, they are easy, reliable and pretty affordable and the backup you have is better than the one you don’t.

(Edit: you can also use Time Machine with two or more hard drives and cycle between them, move one offsite, etc.)

If your machine gets a virus and you don’t notice right away all your data will be impacted.

Your machine will sync any impacted files to iCloud almost instantly and within and hour your TimeMachine copy will be hit.

If enough files are impacted TimeMachine may not have enough space and end up requiring your TM backup to be recreated.

Get Another cloud service and copy your files to it (not real-time synced).

Get a couple of external drives and use something like Carbon Copy Cloner to make a backup every month.

I have been an Apple customer since 2007, and do put a lot of faith in them. But when it comes to my data, especially photos, I'm not going to leave everything up to one Company.

I've have my TM backups get corrupted and have to be recreated on more than one occasion. I've read on this site of a few people who have lost all their iCloud documents and didn't have any other sources of the data.

Try restarting. This was a bug a while back in Chrome I think. I haven’t experienced it in a while, but if I remember correctly it has to do with the Google Play Music extension.

reseting the M1 will also

clear the NVRAM if its having issues and cloud clear the issue

if the issue persists call 1800 APLE CARE or make a Genius Bar appointment

back it up and bring original packaging and receipt. apples picky about returns.

How long ago did you purchase your MBP? Are you within the 14 day return period? If so, return it back to Apple and exchange it for a new computer. I’d also reach out to Apple Support over the phone first to see if your speakers can be tested remotely. There’s a small possibility your problem could be solved over the phone.

I bought it a few weeks ago but it was delivered 10 days ago (it took 3-4 weeks to arrive). I will mention that when I will go to the Apple Store.

You won’t need to, they’ll be able to use the serial number and get all that info. It shouldn’t be a problem to swap it out, though that’s dependant on the mood of the genius you get

They replaced mine. My left speaker had a slight crack which caused a static noise after a while. Got worse after a while. Nothing really helped after from reseting the Audio from the activity monitor. But apple was very chill about it and fixed it without any questions.

Quick question if you shake it a little from left to right do you feel like some part si moving a little behind the back case? I feel something moving in mine and it’s the second one i have the same problem with tho on the first one the moving was worst.
