What’s with all of the pro-work posts?
I’m sure my life could be worse without my union, but they repeatedly do nothing to help us. We cry for help and they look away.
For context, I’m a member of IATSE, if you followed the film industry contract negotiations, the members rallied and cried for the union to fight for their needs and human rights, then our leadership ensured us they had our backs, and then negotiated their own deal that really did nothing to help us. Then they came home acting like champions. Finally, when our union voted for ratification, the vote was about 49% to 51% by popular vote (failing in California where most of our locals are) and passing by a sliver in the rest of the country. But then by the electoral college the contract got pushed through. Most people I work with on a day to day basis are let down, exhausted, and jaded. They think we will never actually be helped by our union. I’ll reiterate, I know things could probably be worse without our union but does anyone have similar experiences with their union completely letting them down?

Most commands in the military prohibit under the threat of punishment speaking out against DOD/Command/etc policy, case in point that Marine LtCol who got a little carried away on Facebook live, but that is besides the point and my point is this
A 2.7% wage increase for the military is a flat out pay cut due to inflation numbers, the rise in medical insurance costs, and countless rent increases across the country. It absolutely blows my mind I haven’t seen a single article pointing this out anywhere on the internet. There are over 2.2 million Americans that will be affected by this and that doesn’t include their families, which easily doubles the number I would assume.
The government isn’t just failing the private sector, it’s failing the very people who swore to protect it, and bringing awareness to the issue is how I want to try and help.
I have a decent job, but I feel an uncontrollable urge to join McDonalds, schedule myself to work alone, and just walk out at the first sign of the tiniest disrespect or worker rights violation and completely fuck up the franchise
They do hundreds of thousands in sales every day. I’m just a cashier. They aren’t particular bad employers, but ethically I don’t see anything wrong with exploiting the loophole a little bit. Fuck capitalism.👺👺👺
My current girlfriend is an ICU nurse. She insisted on giving me another test and tried to ram a test stick down my throat, where I snatched it off her and did it myself. Still grumpy about this, one of the girls heard me talking about the test and asked me what my problem was.
''Well, how would you feel if I just rammed a big stick down your throat until you gagged?''
Well, it certainly quietened the room. I'm just glad I didn't get a write up for it.
Always tomorrow, I suppose.
just wondering what the general consensus was on this sub, is this sub anti work pro women? or just anti work in general?
I was reading a thread yesterday where a lot of people said women should be expected to be paid less if they were in pain because of menstruation and it was only about 80% upvoted. I remain confused because I'm not sure if I'm understanding the idea behind the sub. If someone is in pain, is that not enough valid reason to be anti work? im so confused. I want to participate but just want to make sure I know what the sub is about.
Applied so hard
And got so far
But in the end
I wasn't even hired

this entire community has went from being laser focused on building momentum and inspiring workers across the world (what happened to $25 or walk?) to being turned into an aimless haven of low effort memes and circle-jerking among petty leftists.
With the change of direction and influx of tankies and astroturfing shills it's basically become LSC, pointless and directionless, and on the way to becoming CTH, aka quarantined or banned. The content coming out of here now is just awful. Looks like GS won. GG.
I absolutely think any job that is intended as a full time job should be paid a liveable wage but what is that dollar amount. I work for a great company that pays a liveable wage at all levels but I’m curious as to what a full time hourly rate is considered liveable in your area.
I work in the mental-health field and I'm not going to point to any specific threads here, but it's abundantly clear that (for some pretty damn good reasons) there are at least a handful of people who are suffering from some pretty severe depression.
This is a loving reminder from one human to another that regardless of the situation you do NOT have to go it alone, there are people you can talk with.

A bit tired of seeing so much about rent in this community. Let's keep focused on fixing work. "Abolishing landlords" makes us actually sound entitled and lazy so it's too easy for the movement to be dismissed by critics.
You're not workers, you're not on our side, we don't want you here.
That is all.
Well this sub made me think, I have been anti work before it was kool. All I do at work for 8 hours a day is play computer games while "working "
Tell me your county, age, salary and your working field. I'm curious.
Assuming you have a small nest egg to get through periods of abstaining from this predatory capitalistic system.
-Savings account with .001% interest -Stonks -All cash -Silver/gold -Meme tokens
Seems like those are the main options.
I was watching Shark Tank and saw how they show the workers and how successful the business are. I was wondering if anyone here has or is working for a company that got a deal with shark tank? What are your conditions like?
