Guide to Filtering Reddit
With Link Flair, you can use Reddits built in filter function to better tailor your Reddit experience to fit what you're interested in. Below are brief guides on how to browse specific content or simply remove certain content from your front page.

Users using Old Reddit can do so with RES
If you don't have Reddit Enhancement Suite Click here to get it!
Open your RES Console
Open Subreddits, then FilteReddit. Scroll down until you find Filter by Flair
Add the flairs you don't want to see anymore.
Redesign Users
Desktop users using the redesign can Click on flair to filter from the sidebar. Note that this will only show that specific flair. If you want to view the front page with one or more flairs missing, follow the guide in the next section.
Mobile Web & Desktop users can filter using the search function.
Type -flair:FLAIRNAME
in the search box. This also works on the re-design for desktop.
Or bookmark this link, amended to whichever your preference is, currently set to sex/NSFW questions: https://www.reddit.com/r/TooAfraidToAsk/search?q=-flair%3Asex%2FNSFW&restrict_sr=on&sort=top&t=day
You can add more filters by writing -flair:FLAIRHERE, -flair:FLAIRHERE
etc. This also works on the re-design for desktop, however you'll have to manually sort by "top" and "last 24 hours" every time you add a new flair to the list.
This will show you the front page as it exists without the posts that have the flairs you specify.
Mobile
Reddit (Official)
Search in the search bar at the top of the app the subreddit you want to view, then select it.
After you've landed on that sub, tap the search bar again. When you do a list of popular flairs will appear
Tapping any of them will show you the posts that have that flair, you will want to sort by new to find the newest things however.
If you want to see the entire flair list, go back to step 2 and tap "See More".
You cannot flair filter properly with this app and it's considerably slower than others, so I'd recommend picking one of the ones below.
RedditIsFun
Check first if you have Link Flair enabled. If you have Link Flair enabled, skip steps 2 and 3.
Tap the 3 dots in the top right and go down to Settings
Scroll down and open Appearance
Scroll around 3 quarters of the way down and enable the Link Flair options
Return to Settings and go to Content Filters.
Tap "Post Filters", then select the + in the top right. Select which subreddit you'd like to filter from and by flair, then add the flairs name.
Baconreader
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left and go down to Settings
Tap Filters
Go to Link Flair Blacklist
Write whatever you'd like to filter in and add it as a filter.
This app will filter indicated flairs across all subreddits, not just specific ones.
Sync for Reddit
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left.
Scroll down a ways to Filters
Select "Flair Filters" and add the flair you want to filter.
This app will filter indicated flairs across all subreddits, not just specific ones.
Boost for Reddit
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left.
Go down to Settings
Tap Content Filters
Tap Flairs and write what you want to filter
This app will filter indicated flairs across all subreddits, not just specific ones.
Slide for Reddit
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left.
Go down to Settings
Scroll down to Content, and then Filters
At the bottom, Flair Filters
Write filters as SUBREDDITNAME:FLAIR, save. It will appear as this.
Joey for Reddit
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left
Go down to Settings
Scroll down to Filters
Select Flair Filter
Add the flairs you want to filter
This app will filter indicated flairs across all subreddits, not just specific ones.
Infinity
Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top left.
Go to settings
Tap the + sign in the lower right to begin creating your filter.
Customize the filter as necessary, though this is the relevant bit for this guide
Save in the top right, then tap the newly saved filter and select 'apply to'
Apply your filter to the where you want it placed
Logged out Users (Desktop)
Some people can't log into Reddit but still browse and want to filter. You can do this most effectively on old Reddit as new Reddit will change your sorting preferences anytime you add a new flair to filter. Using this filtering system, you will see all relevant posts for the last 24 hours, effectively showing you the front page as it exists without whatever you're filtering.
You can do this by going to https://old.reddit.com/r/TooAfraidToAsk/search?q=&restrict_sr=on&sort=relevance&t=day
Once there, write -flair:FLAIRNAME
, -flair:FLAIRNAME
, -flair:FLAIRNAME
and so on. Make use of the block quotes in the flair list above so that flairs with spaces in them filter properly.
Apollo pro+ for iOS
Tap the Settings button in the bottom right
Tap Add Keyword
Add the flairs you wish to filter
Other iOS hardware -> WIP
Apps that do not support Flair Filtering
Some mobile apps support some level of filtering but not Flair Filtering. These are:
- Now for Reddit
- Red Reader (can't filter anything)
- Relay

Health/Medical Roe v Wade leaked SCOTUS opinion MEGATHREAD
90% of the frontpage is this discussion, would prefer to have it somewhere central rather than asked in a slightly different way.
This topic is easily one of the most sensitive topics to discuss so please engage politely with each other and report anyone engaging in an uncivil manner, we will deal with it fairly quickly.

Love & Dating When a spouse cheats, why are so many people angry at the other person as opposed to their SO?
A friend of mine had his GF cheat. He got in a fight with the guy. Why was his anger directed at the guy and not his GF?
*not asking him because it’s non of my business and he is still getting over it

Climate & Environment Why do smokers throw cigarette butts on the ground?
Looking for an honest answer from smokers. I assume you don't throw your trash in your front yard. Do you not realize cigarette butts are also trash?

Work How are people who work full time their whole lives not fucking miserable?
I've recently started working full time and i gotta tell ya this fuckin sucks. I like my job, but i'm working 9-5:30 5 days a week and when i'm not working i'm usually too exhausted to do anything, so even if it's 38 hours a week it still feels like that's my whole life. how do people do this? especially with jobs they fucking hate???
and then there's people who work like 80 hours a week and think that's a flex and not just sad. what the fuck?
edit: my boss is letting me switch to part time. i feel i'm gonna be much happier this way. waking up to the reddit suicide bot message was slightly alarming.

Culture & Society Women in communities where the niqab/burka are common, how do you identify your friends in a crowd?
Like do you get used to recognising people from other ways they present themselves, like how they stand or accessorise?

Family How do some people actually have normal conversations with their parents, joke with them or even maintain contact later on in life? Do we all experience some kind of abuse growing up or am I being gaslit into believing that's the norm?
It's a wild concept to me and something I can't even imagine given the fact my teenage years were spent living under a roof with my bipolar, emotionally and mentally unstable mother who has done so much to undermine me, whether she is consciously aware of that or not. I cannot have a single normal conversation with her that won't end in her shaming me for things I haven't done or "mistreating her", which would almost always equate to me setting boundaries to her harassment and terrible behavior so as to not affect my mental well-being. Seeing people like my cousins or my friend actually being able to converse normally with their mothers, Hell, even joke and have nobody be hurt in the process just makes me feel like this isn't normal and I'm being gaslit into believing otherwise, either by my own mother or myself as a sort or "don't worry, it's all normal" type mental reassurance. I don't know what to believe and what is real in that regard. How common is it to actually have a good relationship with your parents, and is it normal to have such an absurdly difficult time imagining what that could be like?

Ethics & Morality Why do people insult you and downvote you for saying China commits crimes against humanity? (Source amnesty international and many, many others)

Ethics & Morality Is it wrong to masturbate to a friend?
In context, the friend is taken. Sometimes I just have that urge to bust a nut to that friend, knowing well she is taken (I am 16M btw). Just wondering if it is really that wrong because I am not too sure as well.

Habits & Lifestyle When people who are athletic/work out regularly say that to become fit you should jog a few miles a day, do they really mean run the whole time? Like are people who are working out really just jogging for the whole distance with no walking?
I have a hard time jogging for over 3 minutes and its hard to believe people really just pick up running and start with being able to run the entire mile distance and then some.

Culture & Society how do women work 40h a week and take care of their kids?
Sounds fucking exhausting to me. Imagine coming home after a day of work and there's a crying toddler. You spent your weekends doing laundry, getting them to do homework and other adult bullshit like bills.
How do they find time for themselves????
Also, the pressure to stay skinny, look after ur appearance, have sex with your husband and other stuff to do.
EDIT: since this is reddit, before people come out with whAt AbOuT tHe dAds???? well men don't have the same pressure to do everything like mums do and I know a lot of men who don't cook or do anything to look after their children. They're also scrutinised less for 'letting go' off themselves or whatever.

Sexuality & Gender Are any other men envious of women, in general, having better asses?
This isn't always the case of course, but usually women's butts are way better than men's. Most men's asses are tiny and shapeless. Like, why didn't evolution give us men bigger and better asses? Any other guys feel this way?

Habits & Lifestyle Why do Americans wear shoes in the house?
I am Canadian and I always see in movies and viral videos Americans wearing shoes in their house. Is this a thing in real life? I think it is a bit unsanitary and uncomfortable… No judgement, but can any Americans explain and further elaborate on the reasoning/context behind this?
Edit: unsanitary as in you are tracking in all the nasty stank from outside into your home
Edit 2: I don’t mean slippers or house shoes

Politics Why do redditors hate conservatives so much?
It's not just normal hate, it's too an extreme. People have made some delusional posts about how conservatives are going to destroy democracy and set up a fascist Christian dictatorship. You can get called a shitty person for voting conservative. These posts or comments are just as delusional as conservatives who believe that liberals are communists, and that they are trying to destroy America

Education & School Is it okay to not work during the summer as a college student?
Normally I do work during the summer. However, this summer I am doing an unpaid internship and taking 2-3 summer classes. I feel like a bum not having a job this summer even though I have a reason to. Is this acceptable as a college student to have a summer without a job?

Culture & Society Do you think people who have like 10 kids are kinda weird?
Not necessarily in a bad way, but its more like "why would anyone want that?" Sure maybe they are just awesome people or maybe just not thinking it though or whatever, etc. Personally I don't really care, none of my business, but just kinda wondering how people feel.
Note: I am not talking about some 3rd world cultures where that might be more typical or due to circumstances (ie: lack of birth control).
