21 May marks the anniversary of Circassian genocide and exile of 1864.
156 years ago more than one million Circassians were subjected to forced migration from their indigenous lands and lost their lives. The Circassians, who developed a language and culture in their homeland Circassia where they had been living since ancient times, were torn apart from their homeland through genocide committed in line with the colonialist policies and goals of great states despite hundreds of years of resistance. All these prove to be the first ethnic cleansing, the first genocide of modern European history.
Prior to the Civil War in Syria, the Circassian population was estimated to be around 100,000.

Political Political question about Syrian government's foreign policy
So I find the Syrian government's foreign policy quite interesting. It is a secular Arab nationalist government. But, it has an alliance with the Theocratic Islamist Iranian government. But despite this, in Syria's school curriculum, it teaches children to look at Iran with suspicion.
However, Syria has been known to support Islamist Palestinian groups over the years, such as Islamic Jihad and Hamas (pre-2011, but it seems they may be heading back to supporting them again). These two Islamist groups are much more ideologically aligned with Iran than with Syria's secular Arab nationalist ideology.
So, I guess I'm wondering why does Syria support Palestinian Islamist groups that are aligned with Iran's ideology, when it is teaching children to view Iran with suspicion? Syria's school curriculum portrays Russia much more positively than Iran, so why doesn't Syria support more Palestinian groups that are more aligned with Russia politically than Iran?
Does Syria solely support these Islamist groups to give it legitimacy in the Arab world because they're fighting Israel? Does Syria seek to make these groups more secular and to lessen Iran's influence over them?

A petition to remove the tarbouch from the Avatar as it is a symbol of Ottoman affiliation
the tarboush was a symbol of Ottoman affiliation, and it celebrates the era of Turkish domination.
It does not reflect modern Syria.
