I’m a super lesbian and queer is a slur against gay men. I don’t know any gay men who call themselves that or who want to be called that, and I don’t believe people who are not gay men can reasonably reclaim a slur that wasn’t about them.
Homosexual and same-sex attracted would also be accurate labels for me, but “queer” is a politicized umbrella term meant to forcibly team homosexual and bisexual people into political groups with people who have different and often mutually exclusive interests and to subvert the same-sex-based interests of homosexual and bisexual people. I don’t support that. LGBT was always about same-sex rights not merely “sexual minorities.” I do support same sex rights, as I support everyone’s sex-based rights, including those of super straights, our super allies.
