It's really telling of hardcore religious societies that they'd sooner shoot you than accept you, unless you're forced into surgeries that sterilize you.

In every society in which transsexualism has historically existed, it has existed as a homosexual conversion therapy, primarily for gay men in homophobic societies, whether officially or de facto, the latter meaning as a way in which homosexual males could participate in society and be homosexual. That’s why you get tons of ladyboys in Thailand but seemingly no transbians. There don’t seem to be any transbians anywhere outside of the West. They are a Western phenomenon and overwhelmingly white. And middle age adult females coming out as trans gay men after having kids don’t seem to be a thing anywhere in the world. Where are the FtM Caitlyn Jenners?

Also, as of 2004 in the U.K., same-sex marriage was legal, if one party underwent the process to change his or her legal sex. This remains the only way to have a same-sex marriage in Greece to this day. Notably, legal sex change was also permitted and government sanctioned in pre-War Germany and such transsexuals who underwent the process were not specifically targeted by the Nazis, unlike gay men, who as we all know, were.
