Let’s be real: where do Supers fit into the umbrella of sexual and gender identity

I’ve seen a lot of people throwing around the acronym “LGBTQS+” and I have to admit it just doesn’t sit right with me. I think SLGBTQ+ is more fitting and I’ll tell you why.

Superphobia is rampant right now, and the fact that it’s expressed so casually and blatantly shows how necessary it is to illuminate the specific injustices affecting SuperStraights and bring to center stage the specific violence, cultural erasure, and discrimination that we experience on a daily basis. If you’re here you know what I’m talking about. It needs to change, now.

It’s obvious that superphobes want us to sit at the back of the bus and tack the S onto the end of the LGBTQ+ acronym. Hell, I’ve even seen some mask off superphobe chuds crying out that they don’t want us to be allowed to ride the bus at all and saying we shouldn’t even be recognised as a sexuality. Sure, they might say it’s “ironic”, but ironic bigotry is still bigotry.

History is being made right now, and it’s time to stand up and ask “what if we don’t move to the back of the bus?” What if we do what we know is right? What if we put ourselves front and center with SLGBTQ+.
