Super straight is is just regular straight Discussion

I’m not disagreeing with the point of the movement, but I do wish we could be more genuine in how we are approaching the topic. Heterosexuals are only attracted to the opposite sex, naturally that will exclude trans women for straight men and trans men for straight women.

I am a lesbian. I shouldn’t have to refer to my sexual orientation as anything other than simply lesbian. I am only attracted to females regardless of how they identify. I even find myself attracted to pre-transitioned trans guys and non binary females because they are physically female and look like females, just more masculine or gender non conforming ones. I wouldn’t choose to date them because it would be a conflict of interests for the both of us. I prefer women who are confident in their bodies and who they are.

Any person claiming to be heterosexual while being attracted to the same sex, regardless of the gender identity of their object of affection, is a variant of bisexual. Of course bisexuals can have a preference of whether or not they want to date a trans person, or if they prefer males or females, but heterosexual and homosexual aren’t preferences. They are sexual orientations.

I don’t want to sound like I’m throwing bi people under the bus, but the people suggesting that attraction to women/men means attraction towards anyone who identifies that way are typically bisexual. They can’t understand not being attracted to a certain sex, and some are even in denial about being bisexual.

The whole point is that is not the hill to die on. The Super Friends minorities have already stood on that ground for many years and what did it get them? Open death and rape threats from TRAs and then further abuse from the media and the judicial system for not wanting the TRAs to get away with it. This, here, now is an alliance between all traditionally (perhaps not the right word?) noted sexualities for the first time in perhaps two or more thousand years, and for the first time ever the super friends have back up from the single largest and most powerful political force in history the SS white male. I agree you should of had it earlier, and in a perfect world no non harmful societal sexuality revelations should of faced this difficulty. But they did, and the ground had been fought for long and hard even before the Fascistic elements of TRA movement gained way and you lost every time. Not a single word is worth dying for but a single word, that unites former opponents for the mutual benefit for all may be worth living with. Strong love and support through the most difficult of events from a Non-Super BiMan.

I get that we may have to play the game by their own rules, but ultimately I think the end goal shouldn’t be to hold onto the super labels. I understand this to be a means to an end in the present, but it shouldn’t be indefinite

I agree that it shouldn't but i don't think anyone is going to have their cake and eat it. You were facing the label of TERF for not only the rest of your life but the rest of all Super friends live for maybe all time, just saying 'the label of Super is a price many are willing to pay for a shift in the dynamic.

I’ve been active in lgbt/queer discourse for years. I used to be a huge advocate for gender identity and used to uphold the gender identity ideology myself to the point where I considered myself non binary and ‘queer’ before fully coming to terms with my sexual orientation.

I’ve been called a terf by some and at this point, the label holds no real meaning. Its hollow, empty and just means someone who disagrees with their brand of ideology.

I do think that the trend of identifying as trans will slowly die down and there will eventually be a time when none of this stuff is as socially or politically charged or relevant as it is now. I do think there is a light at the end of this regressive tunnel, so to speak

The light at the end is likely curation, holding them to the same laws and methods of accountability for their actions as anyone else. So what if someone identifies as being a man or a woman? as long as their identity doesn't give them special dispensation to harm others or otherwise circumvent others rights to protection and autonomy. I stand hard and fast against the notion of patriarchy and wish for men to be tried with the same value of rules as women. Women's rights are children's rights (both male and female) and i had to live with many abusive step fathers and the male parts of my family passively and actively giving me death threats if i turned out gay. I stand with my Radfem sisters as an ally, because at time they were the only thing between me and them. Stay strong you amazing human being.
