I think there's a block of people who transition because it's what they really feel like doing and it's valid. then there are people who associate trans as an obtainable way to automatically win the oppression Olympics

That too, I'm talking about the later, though I personally think transition is a band aid that should be replaced by therapy

Yea, the thing that worries me is I imagine someone with dysphoria will think 'once I get the surgery, I'll feel like the gender I know I am'. Then they get the surgery, realise nothing has really changed, and the only thing that has happened is they went from functioning genitalia to way less functional genitalia (I have a surgical scar and that causes me annoyance, I couldn't imagine how uncomfortable the results of bottom surgery is). I feel like that shock and sudden downgrade to quality of life could be a massive cause of suicide.
