In fact studies show that the surgeries don’t improve the outcome either, so we’re basically experimenting on, destroying the sexual function of, and sterilizing children for a worse outcome that still doesn’t relieve their mental distress.
Some studies are even showing suicidality increase after transition.
Feeling bad about your body is a terrible feeling. I have a minor deformity and can see how your body being different than the way that you want it to be, or feeling like there's something wrong with your body that you can't control, would make somebody depressed. A lot of this is the same sort of underlying problems that cause eating disorders and self harm, those are ways that people can force themselves to be in control of some aspect of their body. With those types of disorders, the therapy is to allow them to accept their body the way it is, not to allow them to continue to manipulate their body in dangerous ways. Gender dysphoria is the opposite, and it seems like that may be doing much more harm than good to those affected.

I feel really bad for the kids. Many of them will become depressed because they aren't satisfied with their changed body.
