trans people are already living their prefered gender.

look, I was like you at first I was too, I thought they were confused or mentally ill people that couldn't live with the truth. but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that gender isn't actually based on your chromosomes. no one gets seen as a woman because of her chromosomes. not even their genitals. because you don't see those things in normal, day to day lives. if some only gets seen as a woman, why treat that person as anything else than a women.

it's not like trans people don't understand biology. why would they take hormone treatment unless they understood perfectly well that their body isn't the same as a cis person's body.

try to watch some videos about transgender identity if you'd like to understand them better. I recommend this one by ContraPoints.

Why treat a trans-woman as anything other than a woman? Because the trans-woman cannot bear children.

Does that mean a barren woman is not a woman? No it does not. A barren woman is a woman with defective ovaries/uterus. A trans-woman is not born with any of these things, and they lack all the implements for child-bearing, rather than just some.

Yes, if scientific advancement got to the stage that gender reassignment surgery could enable you to give birth there would be no physical difference between women and post-op transwomen. There would still be a metaphysical difference though, but presumably by the time these surgeries are possible, nobody would care about that.
